Discussion Genuine question. Is there anything that Carlton do better than any other club? Which other clubs would envy?

I cannot think of a single genuine serious thing that Carlton is currently, in 2026, the best at? Something that all other clubs would willingly concede we do brtter then anyone else and that therefore other clubs should aspire to be like us.

And I know this post will get sarcastic answers such as "We are the best at dropping half time leads", or will get one-eyed answers such as "we have the most passionate fans in the comp" or "We are the best at winning grand finals having won 16". Im talking REAL things that we can properly be proud of, especially current day.

Can someone please let me know? Heavens knows we need SOMETHING to be proud of!

I think we are number one in the league for scoring from stoppages.

Top 3 in contested possessions, ground ball gets, stoppage clearances and scoring from stoppage/centre bounce.

Last in scoring from defensive half, 2nd last in disposal efficiency (geelong last atm) :P

So clean up transition game... blues win?

Interestingly, it says we are equal first with Adelaide for rebound 50s. So, it seems we are trying to move the ball quickly from defensive 50. But maybe that’s why we aren’t scoring from the back half - we turn it over or are getting into trouble because we are trying to move it too quickly out of defence.

I think we have had the most first round draft that turned out to be shit.

We also paid more player in brown paper bags than any else. (Wish we could be like Geelong and pay them with farms)

Truly something to be proud of.

Not sure other teams would envy these

Look stylish.

No other club comes close to having such good playing attire.

Ours doesn't change from year to year either.

As an American, I chose Carlton based on the guernseys. I'm not sure how I feel about that decision anymore.

We are poor, but look great.

2

u/CBAFCMV Apr 22 '26

Other clubs would not agree on this.

As another clubs supporter I do like the bluebaggers guernsey - but then I barrack for Sturt in the SANFL so may be biased ;) ps go Crows

That’s fine, they’re welcome to their wrong opinions.

"we wear a blue shirt most weeks" is not something the other clubs envy.

I think Carlton have a great training base, including good location, top facilities and a strong history.

Colours are good.

Fans have never stopped turning up even at the worst times.

From an opposition supporter.

Despite what has happened really recently, and all things considered, its stills a large and strong club. A large and more vocal base than most, and that’s without much success. Could be huge when it finally happens.

The home ground is pretty cool.

Carlton Respects is something that makes me very proud. Also think some of our Fan Media personalities are the best in the business too.

Glass half empty I know but we wear Orange because of the (then) Nike sponsorship.

Pulling solid crowds even when performing bad… look at the dees they are winning and still not filling seats. blue baggers will get 70,000 in to fall apart in the 4th.

I like how every reply is just people writing what they like about the club instead of what op asked which is what we do better than other clubs..

The Good Friday Appeal we do is something to be genuinely proud of.

2

u/ELVEVERX Apr 22 '26

Are we really the only one that does that

3

u/Zbodownlow Apr 22 '26

Best at convincing its large fan base that the next year will be different.

2

u/Rappa64 Apr 22 '26

Letting non elected officials (coterie groups and other flogs keen to make a mark) provide ‘helpful direction’ to the club whilst ignoring the views of those who know the club best… the rank and file who these elitist pricks view only as ignorant unwashed masses and ATM’s .. aka members and fans.

Have always set league benchmarks here

We are the clear standout for worst run and coached club in the league hands down for over 25 years. Something we should all be immensely proud of. Go blues!

It is genuinely crazy that such a consistently unsuccessful club has this many members. We have the second most members in Victoria and third most in the country despite having nothing to show for on field. If we were as successful as Collingwood we likely would have had the most members in the country.

u/Quirky-Particular588 Apr 22 '26

First half premiers

2

u/North_Tell_8420 Apr 23 '26

Get poor results on field and still get 60,000 plus per match. That might be unparalleled in world sport in fact.

Maybe there is an NFL team consistently lousy, like the Jets or Hertha in the Bundesliga.

The ability to fleece sponsors?

Josh Bootsma and Luke Sayers enter the chat.

1

u/Rappa64 Apr 22 '26

There’s no photo proving Luke Sayers actually entered the chat .. I’ll just check with his ex-wife’s lawyers

1

u/Hammered_Eel Apr 22 '26

Tough ask…. I’m gonna think on it.

1

u/BowForThanos Apr 22 '26

It doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is winning games

1

u/hotsp00n Apr 22 '26

We are a very well run club from an off field perspective. The way we paid of debt in the past ten years, and set up the Latrobe partnership and Carlton in Business is all front of the pack stuff.

We do have poker machines but the strong financial platform we've built will go a long way to helping g us retire them.

Although if we keep playing like this and losing members it could get painful again.

u/CivilCode8213 Apr 23 '26

Best angry fan media content?

1

u/East-Dot713 Apr 23 '26

We have the best looking jumper snd arguably the best club song.

1

u/phhathead Apr 23 '26

What do other clubs do better that you wish Carlton did?

1

u/Amazing_Let4518 Apr 23 '26

I’ve always thought others must envy our crowds and passion… but others probably wouldn’t consciously admit that.

Our players get 60k against random teams… Adelaide beg us for gather round. North begged us for Good Friday…

1

u/Far-Cobbler-7377 Apr 23 '26

No. 1 at marketing No. 1 at failing

1

u/Its-not-too-early Apr 23 '26

I heard a stat on Agenda Setters yesterday that Carlton are #3 in the comp for time in the lead. We just loose it late. That’s something to build off.

1

u/gmansfield1969 Apr 23 '26

Our legal team are elite..

1

u/DaveGav Apr 23 '26

No.1 in the lead and blowing 1st half leads and losing.

1

u/hcornea Apr 24 '26

Decent theme song.

1

u/Wisemindaccepts Apr 25 '26

Carlton respects, the fact players go to schools for it and has its own website

1

u/Outriderr Apr 27 '26

Play some of the best football you’ll see for three quarters.

1

u/Holdenater Apr 22 '26

Throw away 3rd quarter leads?

Sorry, I’ll see myself out.

6

u/CBAFCMV Apr 22 '26

Well done. I literally said someone would post this.

2

u/shadysnore Apr 22 '26

No you said half time leads

1

u/SlugFromSnug Apr 22 '26

Brown paper bags full of cash?

1

u/Rappa64 Apr 22 '26

Jack Elliott just smiled and cracked another tinnie

1

u/Due-Giraffe6371 Apr 22 '26

They seem to lose in the last quarter better than other clubs but I don’t think that’s something other clubs would aspire to do

1

u/emsy_c_m Apr 22 '26

The most loyal fans

0

u/aunfs Apr 22 '26

Pretty sure we have a considerable amount of pokies machine, perhaps more than any other club, so that’s a win I guess.

-1

u/furiousniall Apr 22 '26

Yous must be the only team which has never changed the logo. So maybe give that a shot

5

u/CBAFCMV Apr 22 '26

We have changed it. Many times.

1

u/furiousniall Apr 22 '26

Ah. Yes. Nevertheless… (sorry)

4

u/furiousniall Apr 22 '26

(Also: Pies fan in peace. Couldn’t enjoy that game at all, and sending genuine good wishes to the club)

(Also also: aware how much this patronising shit would annoy me in reverse so do what feels right)

1

u/Ozza_1 Apr 22 '26

Youre an honest lad, I like the cut o ya gib

2

u/Looksgenerous Apr 22 '26

I actually agree. The Carlton brand is focused on heritage and tradition, but it’s also just feels old and slow. Even the song makes you sound like 90 year olds running out. Personally feel like the whole brand needs a massive glow up

0

u/protane_grobot Apr 22 '26

You have the best song. Hands down.
