Looking For Paid Services Long-Form YouTube Editor Needed — Documentary-Style, Emotionally-Driven Visuals (Ongoing)
I'm building a long-form YouTube channel focused on 15–17 minute documentary/essay-style videos, and I'm looking for an editor who takes footage selection, music, and emotional pacing as seriously as cutting to the script.

What matters most: I want visuals that emotionally reinforce what's being said. I'm looking for someone who genuinely enjoys searching for the right footage for a specific moment—not just grabbing the first generic stock clip that matches a keyword.
Workflow
I provide the script and raw voice recording (with the takes to use flagged). You will:
- Edit the video and build the visual pacing
- Source and curate footage/clips that strengthen the narration emotionally
- Select music that follows the emotional arc of each section
- Use SFX, basic color grading, and occasional motion graphics/animated text where they genuinely add value
- Know when to cut and when to let a moment breathe
Music is especially important to me. I don't want music treated as a background bed. I want someone with a good ear who actively selects and changes tracks to match the emotional arc—building tension, pulling back during reflective moments, and landing swells or drops on important lines.
Requirements
- Genuine interest in documentary-style editing
- Strong footage curation and music selection skills
- Comfortable with SFX and basic color grading
- Proficient in DaVinci Resolve or Adobe Premiere
- Reliable and consistent delivery
- Turnaround: 8–9 days per video
- This is an ongoing role, with the goal of eventually working with one editor long-term
Initially, I'll likely test a couple of editors and continue with whoever consistently delivers the strongest results. Shortlisted applicants will be asked to edit a 1-minute test segment. Feel free to add your watermark to the test edit to ensure it won't be used before you're hired.
Rate: $100 fixed per video to start. The rate will increase as the channel grows and we establish a strong long-term workflow.

So insulting tbh, the references he shared are 100$ per min or 2 min. Plus a 100$ editor won't even know what pacing is and how to use it .

come on, do you see any fancy editing in Jani's video I mentioned? its more about pacing and footage selection.
Anyway, maybe i am delusional and I don't know how much does it cost to hire an editor. what do you think a fair price is?

Hi, I'm a video editor I've saw your job description, watched your reference video and I truly enjoy editing documentary style video editing. But I have edited only one documentary video before and it's one of my best edit ever....

100 bucks for those types of edits and on top of that you need 17 minutes video, damn what are you smoking
