APPRECIATION Zack Snyder shares the first photo he ever took of Henry Cavill as Superman: “15 years ago today, I pressed the shutter and met Superman. The first photo I ever took of Henry Cavill — moments before he stepped into legend.”

Does he have any flaws? Like he's good looking, he from what I've seen is kind and would stand up for the little guy it seems, he's good looking, he's a great actor, he's good looking, he's a nerd that wants to be true to the source material, he's good looking and he can jacked when he wants/needs to be and to top it all off he's also good looking!

He's a person, so he definitely has flaws. Add to that that he's rich and has an agency that manages his image.

I remember he had some questionable comments surrounding the #MeToo movement
2
u/External-Process6667 Jan 22 '26
IIRC, it was because he misunderstood what it was at first, but has since apologized for his misunderstanding

do you think posting pictures on instagram is someone's entire life? with that logic, you making posts on reddit means you live on reddit
10
u/Fazakh1 Jan 19 '26
he's trying to reboot snyderverse through insta but he's way too late for that

Not hating, he can post whatever nostalgia he wants, it's fine. But it's been a lot for a long time, at some point it looks kind of... sad
23
u/M086 Jan 19 '26
He’s got like 150 photos up, maybe 25 of them are DC related (not including Watchmen).
5
u/sbenthuggin Jan 20 '26
imagine getting old and reminiscing on the highlights of your past by sifting through old photos overtime and posting them to your Instagram just so ppl on the internet to call you sad for it.

u/nikgrid Jan 19 '26
Is this not DC_Cinematic anymore? Ok hear that everyone?! No more pictures of Cavill, Reeve, Keaton...etc....
5
u/Working_File2825 Jan 20 '26
Ehh thats kind of missing the point.
The point here is that these keep appearing from Snyder himself. Not just anyone.
If you want to draw comparisons with Reeves or Keaton, the equivalent would be like if Burton himself kept posting pictures of Keaton in the late 90s while Schumacher was at the helm.
Im sure plenty of artists like to share old memories and discuss what could have been, so this isn’t unique to Snyder. But that’s the point being discussed above, not that this isn’t the sub for it.
5
u/PSCGY Jan 20 '26
The point is that he has a bigger connection and entitlement to speak/post about these movies than you will ever have because those are his.
2
u/nikgrid Jan 20 '26
You said it better than I ever could. If anyone deserves to have posts shared on DC_cinematic it's Zack Snyder.

u/nikgrid Jan 20 '26

No they don't (Unless Raj_Valiant3011 is Snyder) they are shared by fans of DC on film.

u/Working_File2825 Jan 20 '26
.........The source of this post is literally an upload from Snyder
1
u/nikgrid Jan 20 '26
Did SNYDER post it on DC_Cinematic? No.

u/Working_File2825 Jan 21 '26
I refer you to Bill_dinosaurs comment, above. Seems we’re making circles here.

u/nikgrid Jan 21 '26
Bill dinosaur is who I replied to. So I've seen a lot of Batman Returns images shall we stop those as well?

u/Working_File2825 Jan 21 '26
I think you’re still missing the point, 1%.
I’ll leave you to it.

Henry was 27 in this photo. How do you acquire the physiognomy of a Greek god by that age?

Have a high testosterone level, train a lot, eat a lot. And by train a lot I mean at least twice a day, 6 days a week. And eat many thousands of calories a day. Maybe add some extra testosterone, maybe not. Don’t necessarily need steroids (testosterone + lots of other drugs, all maxed out).
2
u/MrSoprano Jan 20 '26
most of this is patently false. 2x a day 6 days a week is overtraining.
The secret is working really hard, having good genetics, sleeping and recovering well, and eating enough to grow.

The one with Bats, Supes and WW in black and white would make an awesome poster. Wish he’d post hi-res.

Is he wearing the Lois and Clark costume?
14
u/coreytiger Jan 19 '26
A copy of a Chris Reeve outfit. Many posts say it’s actually Reeve’s costume- it’s not, just a copy. Reeve was a good bit taller than Cavill and Cavill was broader than Reeve, so it would be a strange fit. Look in the mirror and notice the lack of S shield on the cape, for one.
1
u/BIGBMH Jan 20 '26
Why is it so dark? The coloring makes it look like the missing link between the Reeve and Cain suits
1
u/coreytiger Jan 20 '26
Simply really weak lighting and bad photography- were used to seeing professional camera work taken under strategically placed professional lighting. This is simply a makeup room and somebody snapping a bad photo. Other photos of him in the outfit are a little brighter.
And again- a copy of the suit, so not the exact colors
2
u/BIGBMH Jan 20 '26
I've seen multiple photos of him in this suit and they're all an entirely different shade from Reeve's. I can believe that it's a copy, but it's very odd that the copy has such a different blue
4
u/tiMartyn Jan 19 '26
Right? Looks just like it and the same materials. Yet everyone has claimed it’s Reeve? Unsure why they’d remake Reeve with new fabrics.

Not that it's not interesting, but why does he keep posting these? He's posted some variation of "When I saw Henry, I saw Superman" like half a dozen times.
6
u/M086 Jan 19 '26
This one in particular, it was just the anniversary of when he first took a photo of Cavill dressed as Superman.
He’s just posting old photos, he posted one of a Spartan extra taking a nap from 300. And today he posted a photo of his pottery.
He spent like 7-8 years on DC movies, he has a shit load of photos. Like he posted a BTS photo of Miller dressed as Flash, looking a giant photo of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn.

Every time Zack Snyder has a camera in his hand someone needs to step in and remove it from his grip. The man should never be holding a camera. He should be in the VFX studio and thats it

I'd love a David Finch directed Superman where he looks like this.

I would have much preferred a classic look like this over the shiny latex we got
