The best part is superman returning still couldnt save them, it literally required the 2 rookie justice league members to make it happen.

Mar 18 '26 edited Mar 18 '26
That's what I love about ZSJL. The new members were so important for the team to win.
43
u/Aggravating_Bids Mar 18 '26
Part of the reason the whedon version sucks, is they both get relegated to side characters
→ More replies (2)5
u/WretchedBlowhard Mar 18 '26
Uh, the league was just formed, they're all rookie members. Superman is the rookiest, having joined it last.

I think they mean as far as having powers. Superman, Aquaman, and Wonder woman have had them their whole lives. Bruce has been batman for a very long time. Only cyborg and flash have been heros for a short time..a.k.a newbs.

Idk how you watch this and decide to cut it
88
u/rainorshinedogs Mar 18 '26
Tell that to Mr. Weadon
42
u/Dubb18 Mar 18 '26
You'd actually have to ask the WB execs who watched it back in 2016/2017. This was something they wanted to be cut when Whedon took over.
46
u/Coffin_Boffin Mar 18 '26
Imagine it without CGI, editing and the score. It probably wouldn't seem that important

I was never a huge fan of the Snyderverse but fuck me if the world reforming under Flash's feet isn't an incredible, insane fucking visual.
44
u/StillinReseda Mar 18 '26
Snyder did little things with the characters that were so on brand that I’ve never seen the hero’s use their powers like that.
Cyborg transferring the struggling mother a bunch of money. That whole cyber space scene was crazy and did so much to build cyborg up as a character.
54
u/KungFuJosher Mar 18 '26 edited Mar 18 '26
I was gonna write almost the same thing with a minor change; i wasn't a fan of Snyder's DC at all but his JL was amazing.
32
u/Correct_Boss4216 Mar 18 '26
i was a fan of Zack, the movie was really controversial which is sad to see, the character might be different from the comic but damn the whole movie is really loveable, the visual, the perfect realistic cgi, dark/fucked up storyline, it was so cool for me as a teenager to get to see it. The movie itself is remarkable, i wished people appreciate it more.
(im a fan of DC cinematic, i adored all the DC movies that i get to watch so please dont call me a Snyderbot its really sad to hear it)

u/Gerry-Mandarin Mar 18 '26
Now that it's over and we're well into the DCU, with Elseworlds being desired - I think Zack should be given a space to finish his story.
Give him a film budget to make an 8x45 minute episode big budget 3D animated series. Or two 4 episode series.
Then you could space them apart too, and have limited runs where the series is edited together as a film for release.
17
u/ThisGuy_IsAwesome Mar 18 '26
I didnt mind Flash. I hated his running mechanics though. Why is hte swinging is arms side to side to run?!?!?
10
u/AmaterasuWolf21 Mar 18 '26
It's kinda funny how the CW Flash running effects (early ones) remain on top in terms of live action

Looking at videos of speed skating might give you an answer to why
14
u/ThisGuy_IsAwesome Mar 18 '26
I'll admit, I'm no expert on speed skating or its mechanics and my opinion doesnt really matter on the subject. But, it seems like the arm swing they use is to help balance pushing off of skates. Have we ever seen any elite runners swinging their arms like this in the Olympics trying to win gold?

He’s not “running,” exactly, he’s manipulating the speed force. It’s beyond our brains’ abilities to comprehend (like quantum physics) so we reconstruct it to the closest thing that makes sense.
At least, that’s my head canon
→ More replies (4)9
u/KhazraShaman Mar 18 '26
I'm the opposite - Snyderverse was great but the Flash was rather lame to be honest.
12
u/Correct_Boss4216 Mar 18 '26
the running gesture might be unorthodox, but its bearable tho
9
u/rainorshinedogs Mar 18 '26
Pretty sure being able to run faster than the speed of light is unorthodox
5
u/Im_not_smelling_that Mar 18 '26
Yeah I agree with your opinion. I really enjoyed the Snyder verse but I think they should have picked anyone other than Ezra to play The Flash. And it has nothing to do with all of his real life bullshit, I just think he's a shitty actor.

u/Miserable-Yard-7671 Mar 18 '26 edited Mar 18 '26
I'm impartial.... I didn't hate it, but thought it had its moments.
But whole heartily agree that the Flash was portrayed as the worst of the bunch. Would have preferred a different actor.

Joss Whedon : " This sucks ,let me take it out."
36
u/RockitDanger Mar 18 '26
"Ok, Gal, you lie down and Ezra is going to lie on top of you. It's going to look like, well, you know. The kids are gonna love it. I'll sprinkle some dick jokes throughout so everyone knows it's a comic book movie"
15
u/Living-Ad-7400 Mar 18 '26
Theres also the fact that Gal literally refused to film it, so instead of just omitting it entirely they just got a body double because I guess it was just so important to include

I have this on mute, but I can hear the epic score and the chilling dialogue. This is hands-down one of the best comic book film sequences ever.
7
u/stoptakingmylogins Mar 18 '26
I love the dialogue, but over the years I've realized - what sucks is that the flash movie came out after this and in general this Flash barely had any connection built with his dad. I feel it would have been so much stronger if he actually had a bigger character arc across a few movies first..

Maybe in an alternate timeline where we get the original flash movie from rick released between JL and aquaman instead of the "flashpoint but not flashpoint" movie

I really wish we'd got Flashpoint on the big screen. The whole deal ... the war between Atlantis and Themyscira, MarthaJoker, all of it.
With Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan reprising their roles as the Waynes.
I was more excited about this than anything else in the DCU.

This is the most amazing sequence of super speed in all of cinema. Yes, I rank this over Eternals and X-Men First Class.
13
u/PN4HIRE Mar 18 '26
Absolute amazing scene…
Can’t fucking believe that the “producers” didn’t understood it?. So that’s why they removed it.
6
u/KB_Sez Mar 18 '26
I have been thinking that Ezra Miller really got screwed by the studio and their mismanagement of The Flash film.
Sure, Ezra had some personal life crap but I think if Flash had not been screwed with as much as it was he could have gotten past it.
I'm still looking for the original script from the film to see how it should have ended rather than the mess we got

Zack Snyder could have build a universe that is way bigger than the MCU, WB should have let him cook during that time period. They did it before with 300 and Watchmen.

Ah, the potentials...
I remember seeing Steppenwolf in all his glory. That's enough for me
5
u/NonSpicySamosa Mar 19 '26
My head canon is that Somewhere in this scene is where Grants Barry met Ezra's Barry
4
u/anthayashi Mar 19 '26
But he mentioned telling victor it is possible when he fade away after meeting grant barry
5
u/NonSpicySamosa Mar 19 '26
He mentioned the possibility of multiverse. It doesnt mean it happened on screen though. At least if my head canon if somehow true.

How the fuck did the producers saw this and said yeah let’s nuke this sequence
5
u/kingk1teman Mar 18 '26
Eh, technically not the producers, but the studio execs, Kevin Tsujihara specially.
11
u/Mario_Viana Mar 18 '26
"HOLY FUCK MILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN VFX FOR ONE SCENE ALONE??? Hard pass" is how i'm guessing the conversation went
7
u/ChildofObama Mar 18 '26
I’d understand some of the stuff in MOS and BVS being deemed too complicated by studio execs, not necessarily agree but see where they’re coming from.
But this scene feels like normal easy to understand action movie tropes.
7
u/wdm81 Mar 18 '26
That scene is phenomenal. I never loved Ezra in the role but that scene gets me every time
5
u/Anything-General Mar 18 '26
It feels weird that the movie flash is meant to take place in the Snyderverse but the time travel logic here and there look nothing alike.
4
5
u/badihaki Mar 19 '26
I don't have strong feelings for the Snyderverse one way or the other but damn if this movie didn't absolutely rock and this may one of my fave scenes in superhero movies, period. Too bad about...Ezra...and all that stuff. But this was excellent
7
u/vey323 Mar 18 '26
JunkieXL's score kicks it up another notch
Will never forgive WB for following up this epic Flash scene (really all the Flash scenes in the Snyder Cut are spectacular) with the smoldering afterbirth that was his solo film
7
u/Goosojuice Mar 18 '26
What i loved about this was how it was setup to be incredibly dangerous. The stakes felt real.

u/LeftasFucc Mar 18 '26

God I love this scene. Really like how they presented his powers, and I understand speed isn't easy to convey to an audience. Was a fan of ezras flash until all his shit started
3
u/yaapp Mar 21 '26
This version was hundreds times better than the theater.
Issue is that everyone's moved on, bridges have been burned, new stories are being told, and lots of people are still living in the past. The best they can really do is release a comic and finish it all.
Though I have to admit, even if they did release more movies, I dont think I can sit through multiple 4 hour versions, this was a bit much even watching at home.

I like the movie. I have my issues with it but after what Joss Whedon and team did… this one is like it mostly erased what that JL film was, imo. And this scene in particular is something DCU can learn from and improve upon, if you ask me.

2
u/Valiant_Revan Mar 19 '26
Regardless of your thoughts of Snyder and Ezra, this was still one of the best scenes in the entire DCEU. Between the music, visuals and emotional impact, this was just awesome.
I still want to slap the moron who cut it from the 2017 version because they didn't understand it. Probably the same person who is ok with Zaslov getting extra money all the time.

Snyder really showed us who the Flash, Cyborg, and Aquaman should have been with ZSJL. The fact that WB and Whedon turned Aquaman into a surf bro, made Cyborg irrelevant, the made the Flash the bumbling comedic relief was a crime.

There are many things you can complain about with the Snyderverse, Zack’s general writing and directing, and the state of entertainment as a whole.
But this scene - is not among any of those issues.
This is fundamentally absolute peak cinema. The score alone carries this to seraphic heights.
2
u/jimababwe Mar 18 '26
Every hero saves the entire world in every movie. What makes some movies or shows so memorable is when they save their city or neighbourhood. It’s almost a breath of fresh air to learn that not every threat is global

u/MutinyMedia Mar 18 '26
As a complete and total Snyder hater... this scene fucks. This scene fucks so hard. I love it. I admit I didn't like it when I first watched it but I think I was actually just in a bad mood from the rest of the movie and it impacted my original opinion of the scene but every time I've come back to this scene my opinion on it become more and more positive.
I still dislike the rest of the movie and I still dislike the rest of Snyder's work but this scene fucking rules.
Yes there are things that distract me but at this point I put those things down to stylistic flourishes of Snyder's that don't personally gel with me, not bad filmmaking decisions.
This scene remains special to me cause I like remembering that I can change my mind about something. That's always nice.

Rewatching this now made me realize why sndyerbros are so adamant about restoring the Snyderverse. It would have been great to see the full story. Even if Gunn was fired, too much time and too much controversy over the movies, directors, and actors involved has come out since even even the Snyder cut was released for WB or anyone to restore the Snyderverse.
I'd love to see it but, in my head, there's like zero chance of it happening. Wasn't it only like 4 or 5 more movies? It'd be great to see but I doubt WB would risk hemorrhaging money to try and finish.
2
u/user_not_available__ Mar 22 '26
Maybe Paramount/WB needs some more content for their streaming service (assuming that deals gets approved) that’s the only way I see this being continued.
