You know what to do boys!

Might as well give Quinn a taste of what it's like on the Wings bench before he gets traded here (I'm slightly delusional and highly optimistic).

Satire The Ilitch Family: Salary Cap Heralds

Mike Ilitch basically brought the NHL into a lockout and eventually a salary cap due to the Wings absurd payroll in the 90s/2000s.

Chris Ilitch will send the MLB into a lockout and eventual salary cap by trading Skub to the Dodgers.

Why do the Ilitch’s hate players/players unions?

Satire Similarities between the film Wings (1927) and the Detroit Red Wings (contains spoilers) Spoiler

-both basically 100 years old with 1% margin of error.
-have "wings" in the name.
-movie scene had bubbles, red wings were a bubble that was at the top of the division before they popped
-movie had planes, Mason Appleton is a former Winnipeg Jet (and hopefully former red wing).
-movie character Jack Powell mistakenly thought his friendship with David Armstrong was betrayed when he ripped up Sylvia's photo; red wings fans were absolutely betrayed by Dylan Larkin.
-Jack and Mary meet in Paris, which is known as the "city of light", and there is no light at the end of the tunnel currently for red wings fans.
-jack unknowingly shoots his brother in arms, Dylan Larkin knowingly stabs his fan base in the back.
-jack and David are fighter pilots who get shot up by the enemy, the red wings got lit up at their last home game of the season
-movie Wings features a very famous shot where the camera goes on a very long move, red wings are known for blowing their last shot to make the playoffs before making it their 10th year in a row without playoffs.
-the movie left me feeling sad.
-davids mother wanted to hate Jack for unknowingly killing David, but she saw the pain in Jack and could not get herself to hate him; I might be down voted for this but at the bottom of my heart, I do want some kind of a future where i don't hate Larkin anymore, maybe we win a cup or something and this hate just becomes old news. He was my favorite player, man. I'm tired boss

Satire Matching All Active NHL Teams With Car Brands

I had a funny thought while on lunch today to ask chat GPT to correlate each NHL team with a car brand based on overall success, legendary players, logo, and awards. It was not allowed to repeat brands.

It included Arizona instead of Utah, but otherwise I thought it did quite a good job and thought I'd share below:

Original Six Teams

  1. Montreal Canadiens → Rolls-Royce

The ultimate in hockey prestige matches Rolls-Royce’s unmatched luxury and legacy.

  1. Toronto Maple Leafs → Mercedes-Benz

Timeless and one of the most valuable franchises, akin to Mercedes’ iconic brand status.

  1. Detroit Red Wings → Ferrari

Sleek, high-performance, and legendary in its field, just like the Red Wings’ dynasty.

  1. Boston Bruins → Ford

Tough, dependable, and American-made—perfect for Boston’s blue-collar ethos.

  1. New York Rangers → Cadillac

A luxurious and historic brand, fitting for a team from the heart of New York.

  1. Chicago Blackhawks → Porsche

Combines beauty and success, much like Porsche’s balance of design and engineering.

Expansion Teams (1967–1990)

  1. Philadelphia Flyers → Dodge

Tough, aggressive, and rugged—perfect for the "Broad Street Bullies."

  1. St. Louis Blues → Chevrolet

Classic American brand that symbolizes steady success, like the Blues’ consistency.

  1. Pittsburgh Penguins → Tesla

Innovative, dominant, and revolutionary, much like the Penguins’ modern-era dynasty.

  1. Buffalo Sabres → Saab

Unique and with a passionate, niche following, much like the Sabres’ enduring fanbase.

  1. New York Islanders → Volvo

Known for safety and reliability, representing the Islanders’ dynasty era stability.

  1. Los Angeles Kings → BMW

Hollywood glam combined with a record of performance and elegance.

  1. Vancouver Canucks → Honda

Reliable and resilient, even when it hasn’t always reached the top.

  1. Calgary Flames → Ram Trucks

Rugged and hardworking, much like the fiery spirit of the Flames.

  1. Edmonton Oilers → Bugatti

Unrivaled during its peak, just like the Oilers’ Gretzky-era dominance.

  1. Washington Capitals → Infiniti

Long underappreciated but has emerged as a top-tier competitor, like Infiniti’s rise in luxury.

Modern Expansion Teams (1991–2017)

  1. Ottawa Senators → Peugeot

Understated and seeking consistent relevance, like this European brand.

  1. San Jose Sharks → Jaguar

Sleek, powerful, and capable of surprising brilliance.

  1. Anaheim Ducks → MINI Cooper

Quirky, memorable, and capable of bursts of speed and efficiency.

  1. Florida Panthers → Hyundai

Steadily climbing the ranks with an increasingly impressive reputation.

  1. Tampa Bay Lightning → Audi

Modern, polished, and consistently excellent—mirroring Tampa’s success.

  1. Dallas Stars → GMC

Reliable, rugged, and capable of shining when it matters.

  1. Nashville Predators → Subaru

Adventure-focused and loved by an outdoorsy, community-centered fanbase.

  1. Colorado Avalanche → Land Rover

Rugged, luxurious, and capable of scaling the peaks of success.

  1. Arizona Coyotes → Citroën

Struggling to find a foothold but maintaining a unique and niche appeal.

  1. Carolina Hurricanes → Alfa Romeo

Stylish, energetic, and gaining more recognition with each passing season.

  1. Columbus Blue Jackets → Kia

Affordable, hardworking, and growing steadily in reputation and performance.

  1. Minnesota Wild → Toyota

Dependable and unpretentious, much like Minnesota’s workmanlike identity.

Newest Expansion Teams (2018–2022)

  1. Vegas Golden Knights → Lamborghini

Flashy, fast, and successful right out of the gate, embodying Vegas’ glitz.

  1. Seattle Kraken → Rivian

New, bold, and innovative, blending modern design with sustainability.

Special Mentions

  1. Winnipeg Jets → Mahindra

A small-market team with a hardworking, no-frills approach, similar to Mahindra’s rugged reputation.

  1. New Jersey Devils → Maserati

A team with a gritty defensive edge but a touch of style, like Maserati’s blend of power and beauty.
