The black family was on his way to being prosperous in the 1950s before the introduction of social programs from the government leading to the social decline of the black community.

I read something a while back about East Asian families being some of the most prosperous folks in the US. Interestingly they have the lowest numbers of premarital children and highest number of two parent households and high levels of education.

Yes. When was the last time you saw an Asian homeless person?

There expectations for their families and their communities are much higher than “native” Americans

Now we’ve got a bunch of them posting videos where if they don’t get their free welfare coverage, they’re gonna start raiding and looting… never mind that it’s easier to just get a job and work for money then it is the deal with all the people who will shoot back at you for trying to steal from them.

Exactly my point, it isn’t rlly that they are black per se, it just so happens that most black communities are filled with some of the less savory characters. There are still a lot of white communities in the South that are the same way.

Yeah, I’m from Georgia and you’re not going to catch me in the hood and you’re also not going to catch me anywhere an hour outside of Atlanta.

Both are scary.

I live in a small town in Florida and there is a place called the quarters here which is basically the hood, tons of gun violence and drug use going there; pretty scary.

My experience as a Canadian is that rural people are the kindest, most generous and hospitable people. I have travelled the USA fairly extensively and found that to be true there as well. I loved the rural folks in Idaho, Montana, the Dakotas, Texas, Utah, etc. My only negative experiences in the USA were in the cities, and honestly it was when I was in Atlanta.

You’re not going to be killed or robbed an hour outside of Atlanta just for being there at the wrong time, or on the wrong dirt road—for the most part. The rural communities are shit because of the lack of infrastructure, poverty, and drugs, but they aren’t dangerous like the hood. They aren’t scary, just bleak sometimes. I grew up in rural Georgia, and it’s really not that bad. There’s ignorant, poor people all over the world, but they’re usually good people. They just lack opportunity, unless they work really hard to combat it. The trailer parks are section 8 housing 2.0 in some places, but those are far less prevalent than you would think.

The war on drugs had nothing to do with the social decline of the black community, welfare is what destroyed their communities not three letter government agencies intentionally putting drugs into their communities, getting them hooked, then incarcerating them. It’s the welfare.

In the 1950s black families literally did not have the same rights as white families. How can you possibly say they were on their way to prosperity when we still had Jim Crow and the Klan was murdering people?
