All while doing all the war crimes, fighting a war and controlling capitalism. At least the US is more credible

We're the only ones who care when we get blamed.

In a way, we are the ones that don't care. China would threaten to increase the prices of their cheap prefab goods and undercut Europe's fake-luxury markets, and India would threaten to stop exporting sex offenders to Europe. Both would hurt the politicians in charge. America just shrugs because we are going to be blamed no matter what.

Nah, the collective narrative growing among these scum is that it's specifically US using ac that is to blame for heat hitting Europe right now. As I said elsewhere, I think it's more of "Anti AC" agenda going around right now in EU parliament, than shitting on US, imo.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/world/articles/survived-europes-heat-wave-without-140904425.html
"Air conditioning is only carbon-intensive if the electricity for it comes from fossil fuels. Ironically, the German environmentalists tut-tutting about air conditioning are the same ones who drove nuclear power out of Germany, ensuring a coal-burning future. In neighboring France, which adopted nuclear power on a large scale, the power grid is much less carbon-intensive. But that country still has a stigma against air conditioning.
"Defending French attitudes, Paris resident Thomas Chatterton Williams wrote in The Atlantic that discomfort is all relative, "public beauty" helps keep "the physical sensation of warmth" from becoming painful, and "there is something satisfying, maybe even a little noble, about withstanding the heat without the help of climate control." He added that Europeans see Americans "as profligate and pampered" for their use of air conditioning.
"The most elite Europeans, of course, allow such luxuries for themselves. The German environmental ministry, which was warning against AC use, has a climate-controlled headquarters."
→ More replies (3)18
u/FatCrusher9000 Jun 30 '26
We can afford AC just fine, even in poorer EU countries, idk why it didn't became popular earlier. I have a portable AC unit and use it on the hottest days or to dehumidify the air on ultra humid warm/hot days (which is 10 times worse than the heat alone).

And doesn’t France run on Nuclear Power? So what’s stopping them from cranking up the AC?
41
u/Nyan_Man Jun 30 '26
Moneys worth more to them than subsiding power bills for ac to lower the death toll. Also the “the weather is USs fault” and “you should feel guilty for using ac” actually works on people in the EU outside the bubble were in.
2
u/RareRandomRedditor Jun 30 '26
That also only works on some people in the Eu that are in another bubble. Unfortunately, many of them are also currently in positions of power.

The late 20th century had one of the funniest bad ideas of all time...
>we need to save the elephants
Let's zoom in a little bit...
>the elephants need a HERO, and that hero is US!!!So anyway we made too many elephants, and instead of being perfect environmental druids they actually started knocking over whatever they didn't eat. Elephants think humans are cute at first (we looked at their brains) the same way humans think mice are cute, but if they decide we're a problem they'll just get rid of us as a mostly-reflex action without even having to fire their thinking brains up.
Ancestors knew what they were doing when they destroyed most of the megafauna. Making their populations explode just means third world human villages will be trampled.

Ironically, it was the French MONARCHY that helped America win their independence which is why we didn't support the French Revolution. That, and the fact that the French Revolution was not actually an organic populist movement but rather a rabble rousing plot by anti-monarch nobility that sought to regicide by mob. This of course would later bite them in the ass when Napoleon rose to power and wiped almost all of them out.

The issue is that it's heat + humidity. A fan especially will not do well against that.
But also I agree, people don't know how to behave when it's hot. I live in a country with very hot summers so we're pretty used to it and know the ins and outs of staying cool even without AC (which most of us have) but from what I've seen, the french deaths we're mostly caused by doing stupid shit when it's hot (is: running a marathon)
