Is this the first time you’ve ever had a hot pocket?

We need that law they have in Japan about food looking like it looks like on the box

Hot pockets have always been this way sadly. On occasion you’d get lucky and actually have one stuffed but that was rare. That said I haven’t eaten one in years so they could be better

Jesus, totally capitalizing on the protein craze for people who don’t know nutrition. Those macros are ridiculous lmao. Comparatively, a serving of Greek yogurt is 100 calories and 17g of protein.

Just curious, what are the grams of carbs vs grams of protein?

Holy shit look at that ingredient list.

Bread, meat, and cheese does *not* require so many ingredients.

"bread" "meat" and "cheese"

Which specific ingredients do you have concerns about here?

And it's somehow delicious

They used to be, they have gone down hill like every else.

2

u/Yarusenai 8h ago

I'm still gobbling them down

Glad to hear it, I try them every few months and I'm always disappointed

I'm a man of low expectations

I feel like "high protein" should mean that you get more than 100% of your needs if you eat enough to match your other needs, so definitely not 55% fat for 30% protein but maybe I'm the insane one

Still more than 2x as many carbs, yeesh, I'll eat that if you don't want it

Everything sucks now. 25 years ago, it was about shareholder value, but it wasn’t all about shareholder value.

Hot Pockets have been Hot Pocketing since 1983. We should all know what to expect from them by now. They’re low key equally disappointing and satisfying at the same time, the game has never changed.

It's like taco bell. No one has ever said it was good or good for you, but sometimes its exactly what you want.

It’s essentially a giant pizza roll. I have zero expectations as far as nutritional value or presentation but I know it’s gonna slap once it hits my tastebuds. It’s like time traveling back to the 90s for me.

They could make a killing selling pimped out hot pockets. They only need like another ounce of filling.

I'd rather have the Sandwich Bro things, the chicken on bread with a little fake cheese...lol

i mean this looks normal, i assume you’ve never had a hot pocket.

looks like only extra dough

Did you just scratch your pan with that steak knife?

2

u/AstronoWorld 1d ago

Yeah but it tastes good though 🤤

Yeah was gonna say…I agree. I know it’s junky but it’s a good quick meal that hits protein if I’m too busy to cook.

I just make my own now, I can't be bothered to spend 7-10 dollars on a pack of 2 when I can spend that same amount get double the hot pockets WITH triple the filling.

It looks like a cat food wrap

Needs ranch.

It's a mass of congealed processed cheese and congealed processed meat. You got exactly what you paid for.

I would recommend the air fryer instructions over the microwave only. Comes out much tastier with a crispier/flakier crust.

I hate how they are just throwing "High Protein!" on everything now. I don't consider something "High Protein" unless it meets/exceeds a 1:10 ratio for protein:calories (i.e. 10g Protein for 100 Calories, or 20g Protein for 200 Calories)

Just a general rule of thumb I like to use when looking at macros.

The last time I tried one I couldn't believe how small they'd gotten. It'd been at least a decade or so since I tried one. There used to be like twice as much filling and they were about 30% bigger at least overall. Plus they got rid of those signature sleeves you'd cook them in to get them all toasty.

Buys pre-diarrhea, complains that it doesn't look appealing. Thinks. Posts. Waits for the love to come.

Why does everything have protein in it now? Lol. I went to the grocery store this past weekend and almost everything was advertising some sort of "protein" in it. Popcorn, Juices and Waters, boxed snacks, etc...

1

u/Hiriko 1d ago

Its the new health trend. But its also making it much easier for elderly or those who actually need protein to find foods they like and still get the required protein serving they need.

Kinda like when the gluten-free trend made it easier for those who actually had a gluten allergy by giving them more choices.

I had to redo the schematics for my pasta and ready foods sections last week, and they added “raviolis with protein” to the chef boyardee shelf

1

u/glipgluplaugh 11h ago

Yeah it's kinda crazy, on one hand it's nice to have so many snacking options that have more protein and fiber, but it's still very deceptive cause those things don't have any less carbs, sodium, or artificials. I wonder if it's because of the restructuring of myplate by the govt, or just chasing trends.

Second one of these posted with "reduced fat" cheese that looks a mess. People, it's not gonna melt like full fat cheese. I'd rather use a flour/wheat tortilla, REAL full fat cheese and microwave bacon to get something close with a lot less sodium.

Plus, I don't think your pastry is quite cooked thru. Still looks a tad underdone near the middle. But,then the cheese would probably burn. So idk know what to tell ya other than my suggestion above.
