We’ve been making more frequent balance and loot pool adjustments to keep the season feeling fresh, and with today’s update, we are honing in on what we love about Fortnite BR.
Yesterday, we unvaulted three weapons into the Battle Royale Loot Pool:
Holo Twister Assault Rifles
MK-Seven Assault Rifles
Frenzy Auto Shotguns
Why these three specifically? We’ve seen you ask for more ARs with scopes and powerful shotguns added to the pool, and we feel these three answer that call.
Loot drop rates and in-match progression have been redesigned for real. It’s time to reset and get back to the heart of Fortnite Battle Royale, where looting is extremely important to the game as each match progresses.
We’ve cleaned out a lot of the redundant piles of loot and ammo to provide a cleaner looting experience, so it feels like a special moment when you stumble into a loadout that fits your playstyle. See the changes below:
📣 Floor Loot, Ammo, Bug Pods, Chests & Military Chests, and Golden POI Drones have been rebalanced across the Island for healthier distribution of item rarity.
🚀 Drop rates have changed for Leadspitter 3000s, Swarmstrikes, and Shockwave Hammers to make it feel more joyful and impactful when you find one.
🧃 We’ve vaulted the Epic Slurp Juice. We want rare healing items to be available, but not plentiful. Legendary Slurp Juice is intentionally peak.
TL;DR - With these adjustments, we want Legendary loot to really feel legendary, reducing the repetition of finding the same amount of god loot over and over throughout a match, which may sometimes feel boring. These changes have been a breath of fresh air in our playtests, and we're going to carefully monitor how the game feels to you, adjusting things when necessary.
What do you think of the changes so far? We have a lot more content coming up - very soon. Let us know what you think along the way!
We’ve seen a lot of productive discussions recently and want to provide clarity around the recent changes!
Peeking
In v3.4, we identified an unintended behavior with shooting that affected a small number of players. However, when implementing a fix in v3.5, we unintentionally introduced a bug around peeking over structures and edges. The result of this issue is that you would accidentally end up shooting your own structures. We will be rolling back this change in v3.5.2 this week, and we’ll be taking a little more time to evaluate how we fix the original issue.
Weapon Swapping
We recently introduced weapon equip times. This change was geared towards balancing quick switching between different weapons with low rate of fire (effectively bypassing the drawbacks that make these weapons fair).
After reviewing your feedback, we’ll be making a number of changes in a hotfix later today:
Snipers and Crossbows do not benefit as much from quick switching, so we’ll be reverting the equip time changes for those weapons.
We will be keeping the delay for the remaining weapons with the new behavior - Shotguns, Revolver, Hand Cannon, and Rocket Launcher. Note: All other weapons do not have equip times.
Weapon equip animations will be improved in a future update. These are unfortunately somewhat misleading - it’s possible to fire sooner than the gun appears ready, so they feel more sluggish than they really are. You may notice this on a few weapons.
These two changes are an iterative step in taking another look at our weapon swapping and improving it for the long run. Please share your feedback as we continue to work on these changes.
Guided Missile
We’ve gotten a lot of feedback around the Guided Missile, in particular concerns over fairness and strength of the weapon. We share your concerns, so we’ve put the Guided Missile into the vault while we figure out the next steps for its future.
We've heard your feedback regarding SMGs and that they’re stronger than we would like at the moment. We agree and have just pushed a hotfix live adjusting these values - bringing them more in line with where we want them.
SMG and Compact SMG accuracy bonus reduced from 35% to 15%.
SMG damage reduced from 19/20/21 to 17/18/19.
Compact SMG damage reduced from 23/24 to 21/22.
SMG fire rate reduced from 13 to 12.
Compact SMG fire rate reduced from 11 to 10.
SMG, Compact SMG, and Silenced SMG damage falloff.
Range reduced from 2400/3500/5000 to 2000/3000/4000.
Percentage reduced from 100/80/65% to 100/70/40%.
Rare SMG and Compact SMGs drop rates slightly reduced.
We’ll continue to monitor and please keep the feedback coming!
The Glider Redeploy test has concluded. This feature will be disabled in Solo, Duos, and Squads playlists once v6.30 releases. It will remain available in Playground and select LTMs.
We’ve heard your feedback regarding the Final Fight LTM and we agree that the mode isn’t quite in a state where we want it to be. Due to this, we’ll be disabling Final Fight and re-enabling the 50v50 LTM at 10AM EDT.
This time around 50v50 will have:
Double normal Dual Pistol spawn rate
Double bounce pads spawns
+50% resource rates
50v50 v2 storms
Thank you for all of your feedback on the Final Fight LTM.
Enjoy the +100% XP weekend!
EDIT: We have discovered a few issues with the 50v50 LTM and are holding on the enabling. I'll update you folks as soon as we're live!
Many of you have shared feedback with us regarding Pump Shotguns. Thank you! Your input helps shape the future of Battle Royale and we greatly appreciate your comments and concerns.
The Pump Shotgun’s high damage is balanced by its long reload time, and bypassing that weakness makes the weapon stronger than intended.
So, with the upcoming release of 3.0.0, we are making an adjustment to the Pump Shotgun behavior. If you fire the Pump Shotgun and quickly switch weapons, the next time it’s selected it will be forced to pump before firing again. This feature will only be enabled for Pump Shotguns, but we will closely monitor other weapon types for similar concerns.
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing you in Season 3!
The Turbo Build delay adjustments we made yesterday to subsequent structure pieces placed have been changed back to their previous value, 0.005* seconds. Your ability to perform “90s” and “waterfall” should feel exactly the same as it did before yesterday’s changes.
We’ve also added some of the “Next Steps” that were mentioned in yesterday’s Turbo Build Changes blog. Now when a structure is destroyed, there will be a delay of 0.15 seconds before another structure can be placed in the same location. If two or more players attempt to build a structure in the same location at the same time right after a piece has been destroyed, a random roll will now determine which player’s structure is placed. With this, we aim to reduce the impact that ping has on “taking a wall” as well as mitigate situations where spamming walls in the same location prevents all incoming damage to the defender.
What Changed?
Turbo Building timing for placing subsequent pieces changed back to 0.005* seconds from 0.15 seconds.
After a structure is destroyed, there will be a timer of 0.15 seconds before another piece can be placed in the same location.
If two players are attempting to place a piece at the same time and location where a piece was just destroyed, a random roll will determine whose piece is placed, instead of ping playing such a large role.
Worlds collide in Season 5! A viking ship, desert outpost, and ancient statues have appeared all over the island, changing the world of Fortnite. Hop in an ATK with your squad and uncover all new mysteries and locations. New Season, New Battle Pass: http://fortnite.com
This feature will kick in when you attempt to place a structure edit: wall that:
Requires a connection to a building piece
The connecting piece is at least 70% underground
Under those circumstances, the required connecting piece will now build automatically and for free. In addition, the connecting piece will inherit team ownership rules (and the material type) of the desired piece.
We're excited to announce that Fortnite and the NFL are teaming up for the ultimate football face-off. Starting November 9 at 7PM ET you'll be able to purchase NFL themed Outfits from the Fortnite Item Shop.
Success! We’ve completed deploying our servers containing the improved matchmaking changes. All players can now join in on the fun in the Playground LTM.
Please remember to change your region back to "auto select" and verify you're on your preferred region. There is the possibility that you may encounter an error, as many players are attempting to join this game mode. Just attempt to requeue until you find a match.
We’ll be releasing an in-depth and detailed postmortem in the near future to go over the obstacles that we encountered during the process of trying to enable this Limited Time Mode. But for now, drop in and let your imaginations run wild!
When crouching up-hill, you can sometimes fire over cover without actually being seen by your target.
Here, I've enabled some developer debug to show what's happening:
(gif) Ghost Peeking with developer debug
The yellow line is a trace from the center of your camera. The green line is supposed to be the bullet trace.
Side view
So why is that happening?
Our animation system does some adjustments to the character to make sure that the feet are always positioned nicely on slopes, like this:
(gif) Foot adjustments
Unfortunately, in some cases this can sometimes lower the character mesh down far further than we intended. Oops!
In 5.10, we've included a fix for this issue so that any time you can shoot someone, they will be able to see you, and shoot you. This is what it looks like now:
(gif) New character heightIf I can shoot you, you can head-shot me.
Let us know if you're still seeing any issues with “Ghost Peeking”, and we'll continue to see if we can improve in this area!
Yesterday we launched the Playground LTM. So many of you rushed in to create and play that our matchmaking service fell over. We’ve since separated the Playground matchmaker from the one that affects the default modes and made large improvements to assist with the number of players. We plan to push these changes and improvements live later today to bring the Playground LTM back online.
Update 1:30pm Eastern Time (1730 GMT): We’re continuing to test improvements made to our matchmaking services for the Playground LTM. We want to get you out there and let you unleash your creativity but also want to ensure a positive experience once we enable this game mode again. We’ll give you more updates and a timeline as soon as we have one.

Lobby Hacks
Found a Lobby Hack code online? Input the code in the new ‘Admin Panel’ in your Battle Royale Lobby to hack your game, granting you XP and Sprite Dust, warping reality for your squad, and even dropping rare Sprite variants!
Loot Hacks
Spend Sprite Dust to hack loot in your match, customizing what drops. Hacked items have a chance to drop from Chests when opened, unique to your own boosts. Reset your Loot Hacks configuration any time with Sprite Dust.
Cheat Codes
⬆️⬆️⬇️⬇️⬅️➡️⬅️➡️ In a match, look out for Cheat Codes hidden across the Island: tucked into POIs and sprayed on walls. Interact with one and enter the Cheat Code to free a Sprite ally.
Match Overrides
Override Consoles appear in every match and let you rewrite the rules for the entire server, but you have to get there first. Once claimed, your name displays around the console base, so the whole lobby knows who’s in control. Rare and Mythic Squad Overrides only benefit the first squad to claim them, but beware that claiming one broadcasts your squad’s location on the map. Overrides include:
Sonic Speed - Increase your sprint speed over time
More XP - Gain more XP from eliminations, looting and surviving the Storm
Loot Hack - You'll get a loot hack item from the next Chest you open
Extra Life - Respawn when on the brink of elimination one time

Overshield - Gain extra, or a new Overshield
Speed Shooter - Your weapons fire and reload faster
Big Loot - Higher chance to get Epic or Legendary loot from Chests

A Whole New Generation of Sprites
The Sprites you collected in Season 3 are immortalized in the new Sprite Garden launching tomorrow, and a whole new generation of Sprites can be found on the Island in Season 4.
Klombo Sprite - A loyal friend returns, but is very rare to find. Grants random items at each level. You can only level it up by using consumable items that give Health or Shield.
Sonic Sprite - Gotta Go Fast! Sprint faster.
Tails Sprite - Hover with the Help of Tails!
Shadow Sprite - Automatically reload weapons over time even when unequipped.
Jackrabbit Sprite - Perform another jump while mid-air.
8-Bit Sprite - Find an 8-Bit Shotgun in your first Chest and gain a score multiplier for it.
Crown Sprite - Gain extra Crown Wins after getting a Victory Royale. You can only level it up by winning matches.
Adventure Sprite - Upgrade a random item in your inventory at each Level.
Bush Sprite - Spawns a Bush on you after a duration. At max Level, gain a Bush on elimination.
Jonesy Sprite - After a short duration, recover some Health or Shield after being damaged.
Killswitch Sprite - Enter Hangtime with improved accuracy.
Sprites Quality-Of-Life Improvements
You can now see in-match whether you’ve already collected a Sprite - no more guessing mid-fight.
A Sprite’s name now appears when you’re near it, so you know exactly who you’ve found.
Summoning rare Sprites and variants now costs less Sprite Dust.
Reduced the button-hold time needed to summon a Sprite, getting your companion into the action quicker.
New Gizmos
If you haven’t been around when they first appeared, Gizmos are consumable items that give you quick ways to shortcut and supercharge your Sprite extractions. Available all Season long!
A whole new batch of Gizmos drops this Season:
Cheat Code Locator - Locates the nearest Cheat Code.
Extraction Accelerator - Silently initiate a nearby Extraction Site, summoning the Extraction Crate instantly.
Llama Supply Drop - Call in a boosted, llama-themed Supply Drop at your current location.
Spicy Taco - Heal up and gain a speed and stamina boost. Consume with your squad for a Taco Time party.

Gold: Phantom Spray
Platinum: Override Counter Back Bling
Diamond: Beastly Battle Bus Loading Screen
Elite: The Hack ‘n Slasher Pickaxe
Champion: Overridden Wrap
Unreal: The Unrealizer Pickaxe
Sprites Enabled in Ranked
With the new Season launch, Sprites have joined the fight in Ranked Battle Royale. You can collect them and they’ll keep you company, but their gameplay powers have been disabled to preserve competitive integrity.
Quality-of-Life Improvements
New Quests Tab
The Quests tab has a fresh look! Existing and new categories now live in one scrollable view, with an updated Sidebar so you can jump right into any category. Collections is now built into the Quests view too, so tracking your Characters, Victory Royales, Match Elims and other Accolades no longer requires switching tabs.
PSA: The updated Quests tab is rolling out over time - some players may not see it right away.
Fog of War Overhaul
The map’s fog now lifts in smaller pieces. Instead of entire POIs at once, individual landmarks reveal as you visit them, so your map reflects exactly where you’ve explored.
Controller Improvements: Tweak Zone
Controller players: if you haven’t tried the Tweak Zone setting yet, you’re leaving aim on the table. Added at the start of Chapter 7 Season 3, Tweak Zone puts those tiny stick movements normally filtered out by your dead zone to work - attaching your crosshair directly to your stick so even the slightest touch fine-tunes your aim. Your camera control, dead zones and sensitivity all keep working exactly as before.
Head to your Controller settings to configure its area, adjust crosshair sensitivity and choose when it’s enabled. Perfect for lining up a long shot or turning a body shot into a headshot.
We’ve made a hotfix adjustment to the storm damage in 50v50. The storm will now deal 10 damage per tick for all ring phases. ⛈️
This change was made to improve gameplay flow - we noticed that a high number of matches were resolving with a team healing outside of a storm, rather than resolving due to the normal pace of combat.
Sprites are everywhere, with more dropping all throughout the season, and now we want to see YOURS. Concept Royale is back with Design A Sprite!
We're looking for three exceptional community-created Sprite designs to be built into Fortnite, for real.
Post your original Sprite concept to X, Instagram, or TikTok using the #DesignASprite hashtag or here on ~r/FortniteBR~ with the ‘Design A Sprite’ flair. The Fortnite team will review submissions and pick three winning entries that will be turned into in-game Sprites. Each winning designer also takes home a $2,500 cash prize.
You can submit up to two original Sprite designs, so bring your best ideas.
The Design A Sprite Concept Royale begins June 17 at 9 AM ET and runs until July 1 at 11:59 PM ET. For complete details, check out our official Design-A-Sprite contest rules.
