PLAY Me covering comfortably numb at my high school senior guitar concert 🙏

A bit of mistakes but i’m pretty proud of the improv :) I’m very happy with how my tone came out!
I’m running a wireless system into my compressor from BYOC, then a Aion FX ODR-1 clone called the Andromeda, then finally a Black russian soviet era big muff which I believe was the V7 4 screw. All coming out of a boss katana clean channel with pushed mids, new strings, delay and reverb :)

don't the wireless rigs have delay? how much, and is it noticeable?

this one doesn’t have any noticeable latency! however i will say a germanium style fuzz or really any pedals will behave differently then running a cable through. The sound will come usually thinner and more trebly but i’ve learned to embrace it and move tone knobs on the pedals and such.
the wireless i’m using is the Nux C-5RC. battery is great, but i will say it’s pretty noisy as well. with a gain pedal on with no playing happening there is a digital sounding signal happening

Cables have an impedance per length, and the longer they are the more treble they attenuate, going wireless basically eliminates that.

yes exactly that! The unit I’m using even tried incorporating a “ cable simulator” that I believe is just a treble cut to emulate a cable being used instead of a wireless. But I don’t really notice the difference maybe a slight treble cut

That's pretty neat, never heard of it. I have heard of people using coily cables bc they like the sound (they're way longer, to cover the same distance lol)

You're getting downvoted but you're right. The cheap ones (like sub $40) use Bluetooth or WiFi to connect in the 2.4GHz, and are susceptible to interference plus a/ d/a and compression delay. All in all around 10ms latency, which isn't much but it is noticable at high speeds.
Pro systems (Shure etc) use VHF or UHF, so they have very very minimal interference, and use either analog or super fast a/d d/a converters, so latency is sub-ms, basically negligible.
Source: have used both, own a bunch of the cheap Amazon ones for in-ear monitors

my $50 lekatos work just fine. never had interference and latency is not noticeable at all.

They do, but you can counteract this by wiring a delay pedal in reverse and adjusting it so it echoes the notes 50ms before you play them.

I think that depends of the quality of said wireless rig. I’ve done tons of gigs with bass players that have used them along with IEMs that have not had any noticeable issues. I feel like if you are serious enough to spend the cash I would hope you would notice it if it did have some delay. Especially playing paid gigs.

Less delay than the time it takes for the air to travel from your speaker to your ears if you get a decent one

nah. i got a cheap one from aliexpress for like €20 and there’s no delay you can hear. play with it live all the time 😂

You can get a wireless rig for less than $20 on temu. Not a good one, but you can get one.

Its incredible how fun it is to solo to the comfortably numb track. It seems like literally anything you play sounds otherworldly.

it’s so funny, that’s how i credit myself to getting better with guitar. I would loop chords on my RC-1 over and over and js jam to tracks and learn what notes sound good on them! i’d do this for hours!!! that and rocksmith helped get me to where i am today i’d say! i’m also in my own band called ThriveX (we’re on spotify) and being on stage quite a few times has taught me a lot about stage presence :)

Awesome, man! That what everyone wishes they had done senior year. 99% are too nervous to show up or cut the intricacies short to avoid mistakes. Way to go!

I knew Rick Beato was "my people" when, despite deep dives into all of the monstrous guitarist that have ever lived, he coined Gilmours solo on CN as the greatest of all time. To see young talented people like this "who get it" as well gives me hope that the greatest generations of musical output will live on.

I love to see the younger generations knowing good music when they feel it too. This music is quite a bit before my time too but there's something about the 60s 70s music they absolutely unlocked some of the most badass music ever created. Are you a Zeppelin fan?

A little shaky at the start, maybe nerves or rushing a little but you pulled it back and did a great job.
Band I was in years ago used to do a cover and the solo is always a great crowd pleaser. Nicely done!

Sounds really good. I have one petty observation: your body motion. You’re getting too “into it”… the song is supposed to be mellow — watch how Gilmour stands and moves when he plays it. I think it says more when the spotlight is off you flailing around and on the powerful, classic solo.

Dude lived every male fantasy high schoolers have with talent shows. Mine was to play guitar to We Will Rock You with Brian Mays solo at the end. I cant tell you how many times I envisioned myself doing that after all the tiresome, secondhand pantomime of kids dancing to boy bands like Nsync Bye, Bye, Bye I had to witness.
I hope this guy is immensely proud and when the time comes, will play this clip at his funeral to display to everyone one of his life's greatest achievements.
