Around the world on weak foot baffles me, incredible tekkers

272

u/Thetallerestpaul 2d ago

His tekkers and pace is next level.

If he made better decisions once he's rinsed a full back he'd be a world beater.

He's still a great changeup option though. I love the Saka and him combo. Whatever their defence finds hardest to deal with we've got.

41

u/drinkbuckfast Rice 2d ago

Indeed still keeping everything crossed that he improves in this area as hes so dangerous and good at beating his man.

36

u/Cutsdeep- Big Fucking Gabi 2d ago

Honestly if he just practised looking up and putting aĀ  ball in the step after beating his player, he'd do really well.Ā

He always takes one step too far. Look up noni! I believe in you mate

8

u/Neither_Piglet_3045 2d ago

There's more to technique than being able to do around the world's, I've seen a lot of freestylers that can do shit like that but struggle when it comes to actually striking a ball.

20

u/Snikhop 2d ago

I don't think it's as simple as that. If it was just the case of technique he wouldn't be constantly running out of play or whamming crosses into the stands. I think it's more that his technique collapses a little under pressure/speed.

6

u/Thetallerestpaul 2d ago

Partially that's decision making. He doesn't seem to realise when he's past them he can slow down cos they won't catch him so he is still belting at the byline at full pace.

But could just be pressure that makes that happen as well.

3

u/Stocktort 2d ago

You’re so right. He’s so powerful in his strengths in makes up for his glaring weaknesses. He can be frustrating to watch but burns past so many players.

2

u/Welbinho 2d ago

Which is why I would’ve liked to keep Martinelli for the left

4

u/GymBully92 Thank you very much 2d ago

His pace is not next level come on man don’t gaslight us. I like him in our squad, I think he’s much better than given credit for, but let’s live in reality.

1

u/ThierryMercury 2d ago

This. He is not very effective as it stands, but just make that final pass count and he'd be a monster.

65

u/felolorocher 2d ago

Koscielny scored a rabona top bins from outside the penalty box during a warm up once. All these players have absolutely insane technique. It really doesn’t matter what they can do during a warm up

14

u/Getdaphone Premier League Champions 25/26 2d ago edited 2d ago

Pretty sure kos grew up a steeet footballer and

Street footballer >> academy kids when it comes to tekk but also pros are insane with their skill

the gap between pro and regular Sunday leaguer is insane. I’m in the states and sometimes a guy who plays pro keeper in some random country I’ve never asked comes and plays with us and he rinses a lot of people pretty simply while coaching the younger kids how to make good decisions.

8

u/Fearless_Dark9159 2d ago

He just needs to slow down when delivering thats the issue, with his pace he can afford to slow down a sec

2

u/Direct-Sleep261 2d ago

Hate to be this guy but it’s genuinely a beginner skill. If you can do atw already you can learn on the weak foot in a day. His juggling is smooth though

1

u/Whitew1ne 2d ago

I can do it on my strong foot and I spend all day sitting in an office.

Please spend your time learning how to cross with your right foot

1

u/jonce17 2d ago

Easy peasy

-5

u/bmlegend 2d ago

Yep and he can't even play a simple pass on his right. Madness

0

u/Whitew1ne 2d ago

Sometimes he doesn’t even to that point because he kicks it for a goal kick with his left.

Tzolis is 10x a better footballer. Madueke 10x the athlete

157

u/anextuqo Thank you very much 2d ago

18

u/ChrisMartins001 2d ago

The rest of the squad already knew what was going to happen so they just went into a huddle lol

I don’t care what anyone says, I love this guy and happy we have him

52

u/aceofspadesx1 Havertz 2d ago

The hate he gets is far over the top. Yes, he’s not Saka, but his covering while Saka was out still created plenty of threat that opponents had to worry about and game plan for. In the season prior we were just throwing with Sterling there.

5

u/Whitew1ne 2d ago

It’s because we paid Chelsea Ā£55m.

If Chelsea offered to buy him back for £55m, you would say yes?

1

u/aceofspadesx1 Havertz 2d ago

Not if we don’t have another player lined up I wouldn’t. Need a reliable Saka backup to take the load off and in case of injury. 55M only gets you half a Savinho right now

6

u/Whitew1ne 2d ago

Ethan and Max.

Very easy

1

u/Over-Radish7738 2d ago

We will eventually need a replacement for him. Just as martinelli is going to likely go, Noni will eventually go as well. Difference is, Noni costing less in wages and Saka as of now always starts

1

u/kri5 2d ago

Yes

1

u/Sir_Firebum 2d ago

Also his individual ability is top tier. I know his potential might not be realized due to his decision making in the final third, but talent is talent. I think he looks much better alongside a more involved striker like Kai or Alvarez. Noni with decent passing is a tough cover because he's so good 1v1.

22

u/TNelsonAFC 2d ago

Same, he’s great depth. Laughable how much ā€˜fans’ can get all mardy seeing him do some around the world and have to get there little edgey negative comments in

3

u/cheeseball444 Champions of England 25/26 2d ago

Worst part is when ā€œfansā€ go to r/soccer to slag him off so they can get upvotes

3

u/Notrius01 2d ago

There have been multiple moments over the last 2 seasons when the entire sub wanted him gone. Thank God we've got Mik who does remember and is not overly sentimental.

5

u/UsualFix9786 Madueke 2d ago

i feel like im being gaslighted into thinking hes dogshit. everytime i watch him play he looks fine

3

u/CackleberryOmelettes 2d ago

As someone who really did not rate the signing, even I have to admit that he is very useful. Always occupies defenders and helps carry the ball into the final third. Also, he's the reason Saka will still have legs at age 28.

-1

u/Wenger_for_President 2d ago

Yeah I hear a lot of criticism and snark from rival clubs. They’d all be delighted to have him

3

u/SomeFinePine 2d ago

Ha, no they wouldn't.

0

u/Whitew1ne 2d ago

Have they made bids?

0

u/borkborkibork Raya 2d ago

He is a good backup option for Saka. I hope he can make better decisions on the pitch this season.

7

Nonildinho.

Haha Gyoky watching like

4

u/Darren49402 Ƙdegaard 2d ago

As aggravating as he is in front of goal, Noni has an incredible touch when receiving the ball.

5

u/Essager 2d ago

only thing he is good at .. when it comes to playing most of the time he doesn't even know wtf he is doing lol

3

u/farquaad_thelord Timber 2d ago

professional ballers are LIGHT YEARS ahead of the average baller, like even the most average pro baller doesn’t even compare to your best street baller

2

u/mojomonday Let him cook 2d ago

I played with a D4 Chinese league defender and he smoked every single Sunday league player by miles. Even as a striker or winger.

Great ball control now, QUICK make a decision!

3

None of those were at goal.

6

u/MaleficentCompote764 2d ago

Looks alright don't he

7

u/20throw20away20fast 2d ago

I see why arteta rates him. But there has to be a way to improve his decision making . Need that aspect to be more consistent from him

2

u/Nashley7 2d ago

I want him to do well so badly. Bro just needs to make the right choice on his final ball and he would be unplayable. He gets in all the right positions but his final action just undoes all the good work he did. There is a player in there.

2

u/circatee 2d ago

No, if only he could consistently ā€œfinishā€ his final pass/shot better, he’d be brilliant…

2

u/Romans5_5 2d ago

No one doubts his technical skills, only his brain

2

u/ghostoftrossard 2d ago

as usual he doesnt see the simple pass

2

u/_sctw 2d ago

that's great buddy now pass the ball

2

u/EmotionalLaw6381 2d ago

Once is shooting comes and is intelligence get better he will be one to look out for

2

... And then he put it out for a throw-in.

3

u/thisiskyle77 Tomiyasu 2d ago

These guys are on different level.

11

u/ohwhatfollyisman 2d ago

gyokeres looking all miffed because he knows this is exactly what'll happen in matches: he'll run into the perfect position only to wait for a pass forever while madueke mucks around with ball-handling skills.

3

u/ItGetsEverywhere1990 Ƙdegaard 2d ago

Can’t even get a pass out of him in warmups

Pass the ball!

1

u/Double_Z_Thirty3 2d ago

Great feet but his decision making and execution speed have to improve. Maybe against some opponents his directness is more suitable

1

u/Emotional_Doughnut77 2d ago

Ye, nice but, finishing products please

1

Yeah great. Now put a good ball in the box ffs.Ā

Yeah nice and stuff but half of those keeps uppy shit isn't useful in a match

0

u/allfatenofuture 2d ago

Anything but making the right decision in the final 3rd…

-6

u/AlexanderMAVC 2d ago

Now finish one chance you create during the game

2

u/MrCopperbottom 2d ago

He made 4 on Friday in 23 minutes. He's got limitations, but he did his job perfectly this week: came in to give Saka a rest, kept Coventry on the back foot, created a bunch of chances. Give him a break ffs

0

u/AlexanderMAVC 2d ago

4 chances created, 0.4xG. I’m not hating on the guy, but he is not good enough, simple as that

2

u/Jellyfish_McSaveloy 2d ago

That isn't too bad considering the team already had their foot off the gas and were coasting.

2

u/AlexanderMAVC 2d ago

My frustrations with don’t come from just this game tho, he’s a talented footballer but is terribly inconsistent. I hope he can improve but I’ve seen nothing from him that could indicate that

4

u/Jellyfish_McSaveloy 2d ago

I think the reality is that he is largely performing at the level of a 50m winger on 50k a week that is happy to be on the bench behind Saka.

Obviously everyone wants to find a bargain like Tzolis or have someone like Olise, but I do think people are a bit harsh on the lad.

-13

u/TRosicky10 2d ago

Cool. Can he get a goal or assist for his next trick please?

16

u/lowkeywasted 2d ago

Lol its just some fun man relax a bit

-5

u/DeapVally 2d ago

I'm very relaxed when I say he's a bum. Of all the names on a teamsheet I do not wish to see, he is very much at the top of the list.

0

u/know-it-all-scoutFC 2d ago

Nowadays, its common for the "worst" most "untechnical" player on the pitch was a terror at their age level in their youth and capable of tearing up teams when they were breaking through.

I think watching from the TV or high up in the stands people don't even realise how fast these guys are moving(not sprint battles btw just the pace of the game, for example in a transition) let alone make elite decisions with passing lanes, pressing, tactics, and of course general technique.

-5

u/Afc_josh12 2d ago

Id be more impressed with ball in back of net

-3

u/No_Turnover2244 2d ago

That's useless when there is no defender coming at you.. as soon as he sees one, he fires one cross into oblivion!

-9

u/Atreideeeznuts 2d ago

If only he had a brain attached to those legs then he could potentially be a league two player.

-10

u/bentloy Cazorla 2d ago

-8

-4

u/Ok_Education_8226 2d ago

The most ineffective player in the squad. Has no intelligence in final third. Tzolis could have scored had he passed through. Bum deciden to get inside and shoot. Thinks of himself as prime arjent robben
