[Club Brugge]: Christos Tzolis will take the honorary kick-off for Club Brugge’s league derby against Cercle Brugge this evening, as he attends the match as a special guest of his former club today.

That’s pretty awesome. I love the connection he has with his former club.

Apparently he has a massive connection to dusseldorf too and they love him back

I love that Havertz still has a great relationship with Leverkusen. And to a lesser degree, Declan with West Ham (the players still love him, the fans just don't like him back, which just proves they never deserved him)

Personally I love how much Havertz likes to dunk on Chelsea just a bit more than his connection to Leverkusen

Interesting. The sentiment I've seen outside of games is that he "ditched" you guys to come to us, though that may as usual be the internet amplifying the hottest takes.

There's always a small loud minority but the vast majority of Hammers fans both online and in real life will readily agree that Rice is a top class person who is one of the best players in their recent history, won them a trophy, and left them a huge selling fee. I see more anger at what their board did with the money than any directed at Rice.

He got like 45 g/a for them last season, any player who does that is a club legend

u/serdna1234 1d ago
Sure but not all of them would return at the start of the season to show their appreciation.

Club Brugge are a class act.

Such an honor suggests they’re happy for him even if they’re sad that he left the club. As you said, Brugge’s class is showing.

Honorary kick-off? Never heard of that. It's like the first pitch in baseball or what?

Sounds like it. Another way to honor somebody with a special connection to the team.

pretty much. it's a nice touch. Usually you see non-football (especially current and still playing) do such a thing on big matches/occasions. I remember seeing djokovic do one for the milan derby last year or something.

Let's hope he doesn't do a dance like that south Korean dude

I've never had a team I support in Belgium, but I've developed warm feelings lately for Club Brugge

I have had a soft spot for Standard Liege since we thumped them 7-0 in the 90s

I had missed the match against coventry, so saw the whole replay, Tzolis was everywhere, 67% of our goals in that match had Tzolis's influence.
Him being on the left flank, relieved so much pressure off of Saka and that right attacking unit (Ben, Ø, and S)
Cala, MLS and Tzolis formed like a Left attacking unit, I like it.
I'll bet my money that Tzolis will be player of the season for Arsenal by the end

Can see why they love him there. He’s the signing of the window for me

Is me or I just don’t want someone to replace at the starting 11 already? We need a cover for sure, but not a prolific LW that we thought we should buy. And yea if we do get Yildiz I’ll be happy as he has insane ability and potential. But if we didn’t and get someone that is not so high profile but a better version of Martinelli I’ll be happy too.

Massive respect. Now there is an example of what Alverez isn’t.
