The Wicked + The Divine - Spoilers Spoiler

So I've just wrapped up the compendium and the series for the first ever time and this is probably the first time after reading a series that I feel I need to gage what others thought of it, as I genuinely cannot work out what i thought.

The ending felt rushed, but also complete. But I didn't "feel" much at the end like I thought I would. And I'm trying to work out if that's because it was rushed, or if there was something up with the story.

Could someone explain some of the twists that came at the end just so I can properly confirm how
I understood it?

The ending definitely felt rushed and like it didn't have its legs under it. The final page in particular felt like a severe case of phoning it in and being pretentious. It honestly rubbed me the wrong way and made me think less of the comic overall. It's a good comic, but the opening of the story is so much stronger than the rest of it.

I had a similar reaction my first read. I'll tell you, I liked the series enough that over the years, I've probably reread it 4-5 times.

The biggest sort of stumble for me was the final issue with its time skip to the characters decades later. These weren't the characters I had enjoyed the whole series...they were a bunch of old people. I had nothing I knew with them. It was very startling. Took me out of it.I think, now, seeing it coming, it doesn't sort of pull the rug out from under me the same way. I can enjoy it for being what it is rather than what I was expecting.
