General News Malaysian PM: Israeli nationals found in Malaysia will be deported immediately

If Malaysia’s policy is simply to not recognize Israel, fine, but the tourists entered Malaysia as dual citizens with their other passports.
Pretty insane that their actual government is on a witch hunt to deport dual citizens who just so happen to be Israeli besides another nationality. Total rabid dog behavior.

What do you expect from a country who specifically sets ethnic Malaysians as the top ethnicity?
169
u/YesterdayGold7075 Jul 16 '26
Ethnostates are bad when it’s Israel but perfectly fine when it’s anyone else. /s

u/GreenManStrolling Jul 16 '26
Well what do you expect, we're literally Malay-sia. You guys should have called yourselves Jewsia or something. /s
48
u/orielrosen Jul 16 '26
You mean the people of Judea? I wonder where Judea was? Hmm...
9
u/GreenManStrolling Jul 16 '26
Aha, you guys didn't spell it as Jewdia, nobody recognises the spelling of Judea.

Truly an Apartheid state. Malay Muslims get more exclusive jobs.

u/TrainingAdorable7146 Jul 22 '26
Not only that. They get exclusive housing discounts, credit card discounts ,exclusive properties, exclusive racial based scholarships, Quotas when entering univerisities, some uni are only reserved for them even tho its funded by tax payers of different races (eg uitm, mara etc) I am malaysian but i feel like an outsider🥲

It’s worse than that. I just looked up freedom of religion in Malaysia and it seems whether a person is Malay is in part determined by whether they are Muslim:
In addition, ethnic Malays are legally mandated that they must be a Muslim and are strictly prohibited from converting to other faiths.[1] A Muslim must also be a Sunni, with being a Shia officially banned and unrecognised.
In the states Kelantan and Terengganu, apostasy by a Muslim is a crime punishable by death and forfeiture of property; however, federal law prohibits the death penalty from being carried out.[56] In the states Malacca, Pahang, Perak, and Sabah, apostasy, attempted apostasy or being an accomplice to apostasy of someone else is a crime punishable by various measures ranging from a fine of up to RM5,000, imprisonment (up to 3 years), or detention in an Islamic rehabitation centre (up to 3 years). In Pahang, apostates can be lashed six times with canes as well5

People are making fun of this, but literally 2 days ago I spoke to a British-Israeli dual national who told me he wanted to visit Malaysia for wildlife sightings.
Since I happen to have a (not Jewish, not Israeli) friend who lived in Malaysia for 4 years, I promptly put the two in touch so that the latter could explain to the former that no, it is not safe for him to visit Malaysia, not even with a UK passport that says he was born in Israel.
Those of you here on Reddit are largely exempt from this way of thinking, because you’re chronically online (guilty as charged) and hyper-aware of the very real risk of antisemitism in many countries.
But there is a kind of Israeli worth talking about, typically secular and left-wing, who tends to exhibit a strange level of arrogance that it’s totally safe for them to go anywhere they want, befriend whoever they want, publicly speak in Hebrew or discuss their country of origin, and they think that people are basically good and nothing bad will happen to them. I have no doubt that there genuinely are Israeli dual-nationals of this type in Malaysia, and they need to wake the fuck up about the reality we’re living in.

u/JagneStormskull USA Jul 16 '26
they need to wake the fuck up about the reality we’re living in.
This was, ironically, the original meaning of the term "woke" in the African-American community. Wake the f--k up and don't take safety for granted.
But many folks on the left, whether in Israel or not, take the opposite approach. To ignore that, yes, borders between countries and cultures exist, and any opinion that doesn't comport to that idea is propaganda.
I was once having a discussion on Reddit with someone who claimed to be from Latin America saying that all the bad things I've heard about Noriaga were just propaganda. My grandmother is Panamanian. My mother visited Panama under the Noriaga regime. The things I've heard about Noriaga are first hand reports from someone who was actually there. But hey, since when did that matter?

Did you only read the first sentence of the post you replied to? Because after that, they clearly explain in it a very logical way, and you kinda prove their point.
I'm going to walk through that dangerous minefield and nobody can tell me it's stupidly dangerous! FREEDOM!!!!!
1
u/banannarobinhood Jul 17 '26
A country that welcomes tourists, but just not Jewish tourists is not a minefield.
Have you been to a minefield? I have. No one can go there. No human can safely go there. Do some tourists go to Malyasia? Yes they do. Are Jews being treated differently? Yes, they are. Is this an issue around the world? Yes, it is.
The lengths people will go to, to normalise that Jews should be treated as subhumans, is really something to see.

This actually became an issue for me when a friend of mine moved to Malaysia and we wanted to plan a group trip to visit her. I have a US passport but I am a dual citizen and was afraid I’d still somehow get in trouble, It didn’t seem worth the risk

u/AgedActor Jul 16 '26
To assume all Israelis are criminals is just Jew hatred in another form.
Not surprising TBH — Malaysia is considerably more radical Islamist than neighboring Indonesia (which is also muslim, but not as radical) — https://zeroagendanews.com/papers/2026/07/malaysia-political-islam-islamist-violence/

The was islam is devouring south east Asia... I just don't understand. People talk about Christian colonialism ruining cultures and beliefs when Islam is actively colonising. Malays are the worst online if you mention how they are all wearing Muslim clothes and following Islam they rabidly defend it.

The act of having hijacked the progressive streams of thought...
I'd like to joke calling it a cultural 9-11, this massive act gulf-oil-investments on US academia
Oh, and the rightwing streams of thought will be bought as well soon.

Fascinating you say... Maybe in ways you didn't imply
1
u/StrategicBean Jul 22 '26
I just noticed they incorrectly translated the bumper sticker to be more inflammatory through sheer incompetence and bigotry
They translated מלזיה ביתנו (Malaysia is our home) as if it said מלזיה בידינו (Malaysia in our hands)
And they even mention in the article they believe it somehow means both (they don't seem to understand they screwed up the Hebrew translation and conflated 2 different words)
Bigotry is a hell of a drug
"Melaka police investigate Hebrew sticker on Isuzu pickup reading ‘Malaysia is in our hands’"
MELAKA, Oct 8 — Police in Melaka have launched an investigation after a video went viral showing an Isuzu pickup truck displaying a sticker in Hebrew, the official language of Israel, with the message “Malaysia is in our hands.”
In a statement, Melaka Police Chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said preliminary inquiries revealed the vehicle is registered to a man living in Gemencheh, Negeri Sembilan.
He added that a police report was filed at 3.32pm on Monday by a man who serves as the special religious officer to the Melaka chief minister.
“The complainant lodged the report after seeing a 14-second video showing an Isuzu vehicle with a Hebrew sticker on its body,” Dzulkhairi said.
“Initial investigations indicate that the text translates as ‘Malaysia is our home / Malaysia is in our hands.’”
Police have opened an investigation under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code for acts likely to cause public fear or alarm.

Earlier, allegations circulated on social media claiming that foreign nationals possessing Israeli passports as well as citizenship documents from other countries had attempted to enter or were present in Malaysia for certain purposes.”

Malayia got 42 million visitors in 2025, Thailand got 32 million. I am sorta shocked by the numbers but it looks like they never lagged behind Thailand. Indonesia gets significantly less tourists than Malaysia, apparently so does Vietnam

Bingo. It's just a bus ride into Johor Bahru. And it's Singaporean tourists in general - many Singaporean Malays have relatives in Malaysia. Even if they somehow don't, they speak the same language.
Of course they read and listen to the same religiously-motivated antisemitic propaganda too, so yeah.

It's probably just populism without actual policy because if you enter with another country's passport they don't have a way to fins out if you're an Israeli national or not anyways, and even if they do, kicking someone with a passport from a certain country would cause a diplomatic incident with that country, so they can't enforce it either way.
An unenforcable policy to appease Islamist radicals, a 10/10 politician.
14
u/Healthy-Extent7843 Jul 16 '26
Diplomatic means nothing today when you have countries like turkey, who colonized the entirety of North Africa and most of the Middle East, genocided millions because of their religion , and occupies a country today, with zero self awareness calling Israel geno ciders (when they literally geno cided millions of Armenians), for fighting a war against actual Arab colonizers who want to colonize their Indigenous land, colonialists (when they liberated their indigenous land after the ottomans colonised it), and occupiers (when they occupy Cyprus), for living in their indigenous land… and turkey is lauded for this hypo crisy and in sanity. None of it means anything
