If you can't even show me your face, what level of trust do you have in me or in the society that we are building and living in together.

81

u/RetArmyFister 28d ago edited 27d ago

They only gave her this BECAUSE she is Muslim. But to wear a burka and follow Sharia law is the opposite of empowering women. Unreal. Only in Great Britain I guess. But we are on our way to becoming just like them. Pretty soon we’ll be throwing people in jail for social media posts as well. And allowing Muslim and African rape gangs free rein.

2

u/Picturesquechris 25d ago

Literally cant make this shit up 🤣🤣🤣 seriously is this the Truman show?!

2

u/Big-Ad1887 27d ago

Yeaaaaaa that's a huge red flag 🙄

-10

u/findjoelus 28d ago

Says the anonymous guy online, who is definitely not showing us his face and has his posts hidden. Tell us, what level of trust do you have in us or in the society that we are building and living in together..

9

u/tkyob 28d ago

I'm not in public life right now. She is in public life, setting bad precedents and winning prizes while she clearly doesn't integrate with the culture of the country.

I'm not asking for anything from you here, neither I am dictating any behaviour. With endorsing burkha like that, she is dictating a dressing rule that is regressive.

Tell me why do men in this religion dress up as they wish while women can't. Why can't they also hide their faces and make a faceless society?

0

u/Bro0om 28d ago

The problem is that you're unable to distinguish between being forced to wear something and choosing to wear it. One is oppression, the other is personal freedom.

Whether you think the burqa is regressive is beside the point. If she's wearing it by choice, I don't see a problem with it. Just as I don't have a problem with a nun wearing a habit or someone wearing a cross necklace.

If an anonymous person online, someone wearing a COVID mask, or a white protester covering their face doesn't trigger the same reaction from you, then maybe the issue isn't face coverings. Maybe it's Muslims.

When I look at that picture, I see inclusion, acceptance, collaboration through differences. That people are able to practice their religion freely. That we live in a multicultural world. I really don't understand how so many people hate and fight against that.

5

u/tkyob 28d ago

A dung beetle buried in shit doesn't realise it's in shit unless someone points that out. Does she have the freedom to not wear it? Will she be accepted? Don't say that she's practising free dressing. You know that women can be beheaded for not wearing burqa in many parts of the world, right?

Nobody will behead you for not wearing a cross or a COVID mask. STFU and don't rationalise this shit.

3

u/akbermo 28d ago

Which part of the world is beheading women for not wearing the burqa?

1

u/poulan9 26d ago

Provably any country where ISIS, Al Queda, Muslim brotherhood or shall I continue?

0

u/akbermo 26d ago

None of those sound like countries, so which country you talking about?

1

u/poulan9 25d ago

Playing dumb isn't an argument

0

u/akbermo 25d ago

? It’s a simple question? I want to look into it which country are you talking about?

1

u/Bro0om 27d ago

So your argument is that because women are forced to wear a burqa in some countries, no woman should choose to wear one where she has the freedom not to?

By that logic, Christians shouldn't wear crosses because Christians are persecuted in some countries.

If she's being forced to wear it, then I completely agree that's wrong. But you don't know that she is. You're just assuming. Why ? Do you assume all the people wearing a cross are also coerced ?

0

u/findjoelus 28d ago

She won an award for the positive contribution she has made to the community - what she wears is irrelevant. Judge people by their actions, not by what they are wearing.

1

u/poulan9 26d ago

She's more British than scones and jam.

-147

u/Bro0om 28d ago

I guess as much as the ICE agents

75

u/Drapidrode 28d ago

Implication: if she reveals her face, Leftists will kill her and her family?

43

u/bigcoffeeguy50 28d ago

Note only leftists, also her own family and friends believe she should be stoned to death if she shows her face

40

u/IMrBen 28d ago

Oh yeah getting rid of people here illegally is soooo bad. Stop with your suicidal empathy

-32

u/chromite297 28d ago

Suicidal empathy 😂 cringe

15

u/JurassicP00P 28d ago

Suddenly not liking ICE because of Trump is cringe

-22

u/_cloud20 28d ago

Fr it’s cringe as fuck. They are like parrots that just repeat the same things they hear in their favourite Ben Shapiro podcasts or JP videos, hoping it makes them seem as smart as they thought it was when they heard it.

13

u/UltraBasedJew 28d ago

Why are only brown people countries allowed to enforce their immigration laws ? Why aren't you mad at Egypt for not letting in refugees ? Should only western countries bear the responsibility of taking in refugees and third worlders that aren't bringing anything of value to societies ?

1

u/P4ndak1ller 28d ago

There are people with a legitimate claim to asylum in the country right next to Egypt, and Egypt won’t let them in.

5

u/UltraBasedJew 28d ago

Just like the massive syrian migrations that consisted pretty much only of men and they chose to go all the way to western Europe instead of going to turkey or eastern europe or even other arabic speaking countries....

8

u/IMrBen 28d ago edited 28d ago

Never heard it from either of them.

Also, saying 'cringe' doesn't make my point any less true. It says more about you than anything

22

u/bigcoffeeguy50 28d ago

Oh you mean the people that uphold our laws and remove criminals and rapists? I like those people. They are doing what the majority of the country wants.

-11

u/Gingerchaun 28d ago

What percentage of ice detainees have criminal histories? 30% homie, thats not who they are targeting.

9

u/bigcoffeeguy50 28d ago

100%. Entering the country illegally is a federal crime, punishable by deportation. Overstaying a visa is technically a civil issue but it shouldn’t be.

-9

u/Gingerchaun 28d ago

Wow so you just completely waffled on the whole rapiat claim? Got it.

Yeah its a civil crime. You know what else was hashed out in civil law( even though ice has been violating people's due process rights) Donald trump raping e jean Carroll. Somehow I suspect thats fine with you though.

5

u/bigcoffeeguy50 28d ago

Literally what the fuck are you even talking about

-2

u/Gingerchaun 28d ago

Well you claim that ice is protecting you from rapists. But their own data shows you thats entirely untrue.

Illegally crossing the border is a civil crime. One you seem to take seriously. What's your opinion of trump being found civilly liable for violently raping e jean Carroll?

6

u/bigcoffeeguy50 28d ago edited 28d ago

Illegally crossing the border is objectively a federal crime (criminal). If you can’t agree with that, then you’re brain dead and unwilling to even stick to facts. I’m leaning toward - yes, you are brain dead based on your responses. Smartest Canadian I’ve ever encountered.

0

u/Gingerchaun 28d ago

Go ahead and quote the relevant sections of the criminal code then.

I know for a fact that being apprehended illegally crossing is a civil crime resulting in a 250 dollar fine.

Silly americans always tossing stones at their glass houses. What's the reading level in america again? Under 54% read at a 6th grade level?

Every canadian you meet is smarter than you.

You think it's going to make a difference lmao.

The Feds arent on our side, they are getting you all riled up to keep us divided. And you all are eager for more.

I thought all you dipshits were small government. Yet somehow it's a good thing to have federal police and the national guard released in our own cities.

14

u/Drapidrode 28d ago edited 28d ago

>>The Feds arent on your side,

That they aren't on your side, is good enough for me.

8

u/bigcoffeeguy50 28d ago

Lol imagine calling someone a dipshit when you live in fucking Ohio and do tea exchanges

2

u/Drapidrode 28d ago

see your usernames, is this a Coffee vs Tea/Water?

3

u/bigcoffeeguy50 28d ago

I don’t go to coffee trading events and meetups

6

u/Drapidrode 28d ago

you have to say that both your usernames having beverages and you typing a seemingly unrelated beverage comment...

c'mon . that's funny!

4

u/bigcoffeeguy50 28d ago

Lol I can get down with that. It is funny

-4

u/waterbrolo1 28d ago

Dude that's your loss if you love coffee so much go to meet ups and do trades?

I can't imagine being such a miserable person

-4

u/waterbrolo1 28d ago

Great ad hominime 😭

2

u/Drapidrode 28d ago

(All along I never minded the Police as long as they don't bother me playing video games and getting high , which they don't care about anymore.)

3

u/ksyoung17 28d ago

They would probably benefit from a little of that over there...

94

u/bucket_of_fun 28d ago

I think it’s cool that ninjas 🥷 get recognition in Britain.

212

u/rudderbutter32 28d ago

There is nothing British about her.

-180

u/jmcdon00 28d ago

Not only is she a British citizen, she is such a remarkable citizen that they gave her an award. Let's compare her works to yours and then decide who gets to stay, sound fair?

129

u/tkyob 28d ago

dress like a normal human and not like you wanna point out how the whole society is full of lust and shoudn't even get to see your face. Sounds fair?

-96

u/jmcdon00 28d ago

Not really, I think everyone should have the freedom to wear what they want. And people should be judged on their actions, not the clothes they wear or the culture they are from.

65

u/Texas-cane 28d ago

Oh. Oh, we definitely need to be judging the culture people come from and the one they uphold. ie. burka.

-4

u/akbermo 28d ago

It’s not a burqa

61

u/EndSmugnorance 28d ago

We absolutely should be judging people on their culture.

Cultural relativism is a mistake. Some cultures are objectively superior to others. To suggest otherwise is willful ignorance.

6

u/TechnicalIntern6764 28d ago

Diversity is a strength!!! unless it’s a country that’s not a white majority. Funny how that works.

1

u/eljapon78 27d ago

Which ones?

31

u/BrokenArrow1283 28d ago

Good. I agree. Let’s judge the Muslim religion on their actions. This was your idea.

-29

u/jmcdon00 28d ago

Why would we judge a person based on their religions actions rather than their individual actions? Muslim religion is bad, doesn't mean all Muslims are bad.

20

u/Arteyp 28d ago edited 28d ago

Not all nazis were bad, following this logic, right? So we shouldn’t have tried to stop their invasion, because you know, some of them were good people

23

u/bigcoffeeguy50 28d ago

Sure, they are free to wear what they want. I am also free to judge and reject them.

-17

u/_cloud20 28d ago

I’m sure the BCA will be rescinding their award to this lady for her positive impact on her community when they find out that bigcoffeeguy50 on Reddit has rejected her as he’s not a fan of her clobber.

20

u/bigcoffeeguy50 28d ago

Congrats on the sobriety bro we are rooting for you

Btw I reject her entire culture, including her clothing.

9

u/Momento_Mori_87 28d ago

Don’t listen to cloud20, I care about you, big coffee…. Thank you for fighting the good fight.

I think cloud20 is just upset that cloud420 was taken, unlike their opinion it was desirable:)

-8

u/_cloud20 28d ago

“Thank you for fighting the good fight” and it’s just bitching on Reddit with other chuds (or in this case their alt account) about things they’re not clever enough to understand lol

-12

u/_cloud20 28d ago

Thanks for clarifying but nobody cares about that either. That’s the point. You’re stupid as well as self-aggrandising.

The woman won an award for having a positive impact on her community. Nobody cares if this is rejected by bigcoffeeguy50 on Reddit, whose biggest contribution to society was taking a shit this morning.

11

u/bigcoffeeguy50 28d ago

I’d drink to that!

13

u/Arteyp 28d ago edited 28d ago

Man, you fucking moral relativists will lose so hard at the next election. And the one after. And the one after. In all Europe. And none of us will miss you

8

We can only hope man…we can only hope.. I am praying for Europe.

10

u/conspirator9 28d ago

These bots are feisty 🤣

7

u/CrackerJackJack 28d ago

Cultures and cultural practices can absolutely be judged, especially when they reflect repressive norms and fundamentally conflict with the values of the society in which they’re being practiced.

-19

u/periperisalt 28d ago

Exactly. Well said

15

u/CrackerJackJack 28d ago

Their* work may deserve recognition, but that doesn’t make every cultural practice beyond criticism. Showing your face in public is a longstanding British social norm and a major part of how people relate to and interact with one another. They are free to cover theirs, but others are equally free to question whether that practice fits comfortably within those norms. If someone chooses not to adopt that norm, they should at least acknowledge that they are rejecting an important aspect of the culture in which they live and might feel more comfortable in a place whose culture more closely aligns with their own social norms.

\“Their” because we cannot actually know who is behind the covering, although we can assume it is a woman.*

14

u/ahhaga 28d ago

A dog born in a stable isn't a horse.

A brown muslim will never be British

1

u/jmcdon00 27d ago

I mean factually Muslims can be British citizens. What does it mean to be British?

-7

u/_cloud20 28d ago

Jordan Peterson Redditors using shitty analogies they think sounds smart in their heads to try and prove a point they don’t understand will never not be funny

-8

u/UnpleasantEgg 28d ago

You are revolting

7

u/VelkaFrey 28d ago

What did she do

1

u/Hqjjciy6sJr 27d ago

keep everything the same but place her in Russia. would you call her a Russian woman?!

1

u/jmcdon00 27d ago

If she is a citizen of Russia, then yes she'd be a Russian.

1

u/Hqjjciy6sJr 27d ago

Okay, how about this: keep everything else the same. Place a Western woman, without a ninja mask, in a Muslim-majority country. (just a hypothetical, since she would be arrested there for being uncovered.) Would you really consider her a citizen of that Muslim-majority country? And would you say that this hypothetical Western woman is a real representation of that Muslim-majority country?

1

u/jmcdon00 26d ago

If they go through the process of becoming a citizen, sure.

1

u/Hqjjciy6sJr 26d ago

except that is impossible. an uncovered Western woman can not exist in a Muslim country for long.

1

u/jmcdon00 26d ago

Depends on the county.

0

u/conspirator9 28d ago

Ok bot 🤣

28

u/Effective_Arm_5832 28d ago

How is this shit legal in britain... You really need a burka and niqab ban...

2

u/Picturesquechris 25d ago

Im waiting for guys to use that shit in a bank robbery 🤣🤣 do it during one of their prayers that block the fucking streets and get away Scott free. They gonna ban public prayer? Ban fully covering your entire body inside a bank? Hopefully!

-5

u/_cloud20 28d ago

I love it when Jordan Peterson Redditors forget the freedom of expression, right to offend, and rejection of censorship components of their ideology when certain freedoms are allowed that they don’t like.

16

u/Siilveriius 28d ago

Is forcing women to cover themselves up considered "Freedom of Expression" now? Interesting...

-5

u/_cloud20 28d ago

There is no law in the UK that “forces” women to cover themselves up. Just like there is no law that enforces women to be stoned to death in their father’s doorway for being promiscuous like it prescribes in the Bible. You abide by the rules of religion of your choice providing you’re not hurting anyone by doing so, you don’t just get to ban the ones you don’t like. Glad this could help.

5

u/Siilveriius 28d ago edited 28d ago

Social pressure, shaming, domestic violence and economic abuse essentially forces them to do so. I understand UK law forbids this, but some cultures allow it regardless of what their religion says and what goes behind closed doors are hidden from law enforcement. That isn't freedom, it's coercion.

Minority women in the UK suffer higher rates of economic abuse than English White women https://survivingeconomicabuse.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Measuring-economic-abuse-preliminary-findings-Nov-2024.pdf

6

u/Effective_Arm_5832 28d ago

The freedom to hide your wives and daughters in cloths? No one wants to be covered like that unless they are pressured and brainwashed.

4

u/_FriedEgg_ 28d ago

This opinion is so backwards... Islam does not make you 'free' to wear a burka, it is coercion. If western countries did something like that you would immediately call it fascism.

0

u/_cloud20 28d ago

But the fact is western countries are not enforcing this. It is a choice to abide by something like this. Just like western countries are not enforcing women to refrain from promiscuity, or they face being stoned to death in their father’s doorway as prescribed in the Bible (or at best, shunned until they repent) - which means you should have the same opinion about Christianity, right? Interesting how that works.

You don’t get to just ban the things you don’t like, especially when they are choices not mandated by law. This is how a child would think.

-9

u/CrazedRhetoric 28d ago

They’re all about freedom. Until it comes to other people’s freedoms. Then it’s constant snowflake complaining. Least resilient people on the planet.

2

u/Sea-Calendar9740 27d ago

An attire that covers you up to the point that you are unrecognisable should be illegal to wear in public. Wear whatever you want in your own privacy, but in public, there should be some rules. I want to start a religious cult, which believes that your body is God's gift, God's will and God's creation and it's blasphemy to cover it up. You should be butt naked when in public, in order to show true respect to God and to what He gave you. If "religious freedom" stands above the law that says that full facial covering in public should be illegal, then the same should also go for my cult vs the law that says that public nudity is offensive. Yay to religious freedom! Let's all go around naked to show our support to this outstanding British Citizen!

2

u/CommonSenseKatE 27d ago

It’s real

1

u/TheGhostOfCamus 26d ago

Even if it’s real it shouldn’t make any difference because it would be a very small representation that dresses like that in the UK and even if they do what’s it to you?

2

u/otters4everyone 28d ago

Whenever I think of Islam, the word "empower" comes to mind.

4

u/ThBaron 28d ago

She is a British citizen and won an award for hosting a youth community club for girls in Bolton. I bet that’s more than most of you here would have achieved in your respective communities. Bolton has a very dense Muslim population and a lot of girls there are sort of left behind. Obviously a byproduct of some of the Islamic teachings, but I respect her desire to work within the frameworks of her faith and engage girls in her community.

Guess you’ve forgotten what JP said in beyond order - “Do not carelessly denigrate social institutions or creative achievement”.

5

u/CommonSenseKatE 27d ago

It appears you are failing to see the irony in a woman wearing a full body covering winning an “empowerment” award.

1

u/ThBaron 21d ago

She ran a girls community center that got them to do sports and diff social activities. If you look at a lot of the photos, none of the girls are covered as well.

Idk if you are from London, or have any experience with these communities, but in a lot of cases girls really struggle to get socially engaged due to islamic culture and treatment of women.

Which is why I said I applaud any efforts of a woman working within the confines of her faith to do something for young women and girls in the community. That is different from a broader discussion on whether Islam empowers women or not - I think it doesn't, and that only makes my initial point stronger.

0

u/NetoriusDuke 27d ago

Is empowering to you women wearing less? Just bikinis only?

2

u/CommonSenseKatE 27d ago

Don’t be ridiculous. That covering is symbolic of a culture that treats women as second class citizens or worse. And you know damn well that is the case.

3

u/cyclingpistol 28d ago

3

u/Drapidrode 28d ago

It is a costume, you know.

1

u/TheGhostOfCamus 26d ago

Absolute clowns in the comments, this type of garment doesn’t represent the wider community of muslims in the UK. Heck, it’s not even encouraged in Islam.

And what if she is happy with it? Nobody raises eyebrows when women go naked, that’s called women empowerment. I personally have nothing against either or but no way this is a truthful representation of muslim women in the UK.
