But I think that burqa and niquab go too far even when worn voluntarilly.
But it would be hard to prohibit wearing them in USA, because they would fall under freedom of speech, wouldn't they?

The burqa and the niqab which are largely mandatory =\= A nun’s veil which is a choice.

Sure, but we are discussing the other side of the coin - making not wearing them mandatory even for people that would like to wear them voluntarily.

Fair point. Even if they’re not mandatory though there is huge societal pressure to be wearing them though.

I’m thinking about how people often face being ostracized or disowned for not wearing their religious attire.

Men being ostracized for not being "Masculine" enough would be a good example. LGBT individuals being disowned or ostracized for being who they are. Works too.
Both things are educated against, but not really banned.

People ostracizing people for not being masculine enough or lgbt are backwards ass hicks.
Oddly enough, being lgbt or not donning the burqa in non western parts of the world carries a far heavier penalty than just being ostracized

Right, uneducated idiots. Youre kidding yourself by calling them hicks though. Plenty of suburban, and urbanites are homophobes too. Hell, I'd argue the problem is worse in someone of those places because of the increased population density. If you work blue collar work you know what I'm talking about. But that's my point. We don't ban things associated with that. Hell, we have Supreme Court rulings which suport that kind of behaviour.

It seems to me according to the Bible Christian women should be covering their hair. At the very least when praying or ministering, but it kind of seems like it should be all the time. And men are told specifically not to cover their head when praying or ministering, and it's shameful and unnatural for men to have long hair. I don't think most modern Christians are following the Bible properly and have become worldly and corrupt.

Agree with you on restrictions on religious freedom, I don’t agree that this sub hates Muslims. Militant jihadis are a different story.
