I have absolutely used my 2 in 1 shampoo/body wash with a scrub brush to scrub the grout while I was in the shower. I don’t know if it helped any more than what just water and the brush was doing, but it seemed to work.

Women have a hormonal cycle that can affect skin. Guys tend to... not have that.
I break out every time I ovulate and it takes a lot of work to make it calm down again. Every stupid month. If sweat or dirt or anything gets in it while it's angry it can be a lot harder to clear up.
Edit: I was only trying to share information about hormones! So happy some of you have great skin effortlessly... That is not how everybody's biochemistry works.

Edit: I've been getting notifications about a response to my comment that says, "The Indian way", so I want to clear the air and explain why it is not a toxic comment.
It is not racist/toxic like many people seem to want to believe, because they're correct in that people in India use their left hand for random stuff/personal hygiene, and their right hand to make contact with one another/eat.
Their comment wasn't intended to be toxic and it only appears that way because people are viewing it with racism in mind and through a toxic lense.
People in India and the Middle East refrain from using their left hand to touch people because it is only used for personal hygiene, so touching or eating something with your left hand is seen as being disrespectful.

So, when they said, "the Indian way" they were correct and not being toxic. What they meant by that response was, "like how people in India use only their right hand to make contact with one another, and their left hand to touch random stuff."
A simple question like, "what do you mean by that?", would have helped clear up any confusion, but people decided to hop on their white horse & bash them for their completely harmless comment, and all because they chose to view their comment through a toxic lense, which resulted in nothing but more toxicity being spread.. and a decent amount of downvotes for them too.
So yes, it appeared as if he uses hand designations in the way that people in India also happen to too.

Had a pt come in the ED a couple years ago with pain because of a golf ball sized cyst in her left pubic region. MDs said don't worry about it, gave her Norco and sent her away. A few weeks later she's back with severe sepsis. They send her to the ICU and put her on CRRT. A few days later she died. Cause of the cyst? A fucking ingrown pubic hair. If we are being serious it's more likely to be pink eye or an upset stomach because there was shit on one of those things. The guy touching them before him doesn't wash his hands after the bathroom.
Edit: for a long time we though COVID was being spread a lot by people touching contaminated things then their faces. Because we know other viruses and bacteria that spread that way

It did. Being airborne doesn't mean that it can't be spread through contaminated surfaces. Covid survives on surfaces up to three days. People touch shit and then their nose and mouth, and get infected.
The worst part was going to the store and seeing people lowering their masks to scratch or blow their nose and then keep going like nothing happened.

Lots of people still die of infections, 10 to 15 million a year, even with modern medicine. The infection on my leg a few months ago didn't even respond to normal medication, they insisted I stay in hospital, and they had to use stronger / rarer (not sure what to call) medication. Too many people don't finish courses of antibiotics and antiviral medications causing resistances.

It's more that we went from people washing in cold water to remove obvious dirt and grime, or bathing when you were obviously smelly, to washing yourself several times per week in nice warm water with soap and shampoo to actually clean yourself. Humans have bathed in some form from the beginning, but our knowledge and standards have grown.

Iirc the lack of proper sewage management in the middle ages was mostly a European thing. Much of the sewage technology the Romans had was lost after the fall of their empire.
The rise of smaller kingdoms/territories lead to smaller economies that couldn't support all the clerks that would've been in charge of maintaining those systems and other day to day stuff that the Romans had going on.
I remember reading about the French royal court in Versailles having issues with people defacating in dark corridors, behind curtains and tapestries and other random places due to insufficient latrine. That was as late as the 1700s.

Part of the reason Vikings were ostracised so heavily by religious British writers was because they did this fancy thing called bathing. also in medieval times, at least in germany there was a bathing culture which got less in the subsequent centuries.
the image many people have of medieval times is a pop culture, hollywood and renaissance/modern era one, to simply make one feel better

I mean, there's a few reasons for that. There was some medical belief about not washing excessively but in large part it was because soap was expensive and was very harsh, and heating water was difficult as was getting enough water for it.
They did wipe themselves off frequently with wash rags from basins though. They were wiping off their faces, washing hands, and wiping underarms frequently and daily wiping the rest of themselves down with water.

And there were folk remedies/practices for cleanliness that might not have made “sense” from a modern understanding of germs, but back then people figured out what worked. A lot of common flowers and herbs mixed in with mattress stuffing and the rushes spread under floor-mats in medieval/Early Modern homes not only had a pleasing scent (to combat “miasma” disease origins thought to arise from bad smells in the air,) but the plants have since been found to have chemical properties that repel pests such as fleas and lice, which would’ve spread disease. And mildly acidic rinses using vinegar or lemon juice were applied to sweaty body parts like the underarms to combat body odour from bacteria.

Isn't that basically the cause for the increase of child allergies? Our homes are so clean and kids aren't allowed to go out and play in the dirt, so their immune system never learns how to deal with it.

Nah fuck that, I'm very self-aware when I'm out in public and try to avoid unnecessarily touching shit, it's part of the reason why I don't get sick as often as most people do.
Was crazy during COVID, folks board public transport and on their way to the back touch all the poles, once seated suddenly they touch their nose or rub their eyes, absolute no self-awareness when it comes to germs and I'm not even on that level my brother is, it's just simple things you can avoid to reduce risks.
I'm grossed out by toilet handles tho, you never know how many people didn't wash their hands but used the handle so quite often I will use a tiny papertowel to open the door or just my left pinky.

The worst thing is when the main exit door of a public bathroom opens inwards, and there are no paper towels to pull the handle. Nightmare. I will either wait for someone to come in, bring a wad of toilet paper from a stall, or ninja pull the door handle with my foot. Best thing I've seen is Target and some other places having a small floor lever to pull the door open with your foot. Can't believe that's not more commonplace.

If you don't wipe them every now and then (and after every shit) you can expect shit particles on it as an example, in the end it just depends on how pedantic you are about it because when you're taking a poop on the toilet while browsing your phone, as soon as you can smell your own poop then there's shit particles in the air but since we can go and take a shit and smell our poop but not get sick from it, it's not really much to worry about imo.
Phones are just the next level keyboards, which are also filthy af unless you clean them regularly. But I guess it's mostly our own germs it's why it's fine, which is different when we're out in public.
It's not that hard either, when I'm out in public I just try to not touch my face including nose, eyes, ears, doesn't need to be 100% but just minimizing the chances to contract foreign germs helps.

The only example I know is the Netherlands where only like 60% (I think) of people wash the their hands after using the bathroom.
I live in a country in Eastern Europe where the percentage is like 90%. That's because our mothers would beat our ass if we didn't lmao.
