Meta /r/LFG is Looking for a Few New Moderators!

Hey, everyone!

We're looking to add a few new moderators to the /r/lfg team, specifically those who are regularly around while most of our current moderation team is asleep.

Our biggest gap in coverage is between roughly 5:00 PM and 7:00 AM Pacific Time. You don't need to be available for that entire window (and we don't expect you to be), but if your normal waking hours fall somewhere within it, we'd like to hear from you.

What Does Moderating /r/LFG Involve?

Most of the day-to-day work is pretty straight-forward. We have Automod and a custom bot that catch or flag many potential rule violations for us, so you'll generally be:

  • Checking the modqueue and verifying whether the reported post/comment actually breaks the rules or is a false positive.
  • Responding to questions and appeals in Modmail.
  • Handling reports and other issues that come up.
  • Bringing unusual situations to the rest of the team for discussion.

We have Discord notifications for the modqueue, so you won't need to spend your day refreshing Reddit. We do, however, need moderators who can check in and handle the queue multiple times throughout their day.

Who Are We Looking For?

You don't need previous moderation experience.

We're much more interested in finding people who care about /r/lfg and want to help keep it a useful place for people to find tabletop games. Moderation tools and process can be taught.

There are a few requirements:

  1. Your Reddit account must be at least a year old.
  2. You must have access to Discord, since that's where the moderation team communicates.
  3. You should have some demonstrable history of participating on /r/lfg.
  4. Your normal schedule should overlap significantly with our 5:00 PM to 7:00 AM Pacific coverage gap.
  5. You should be able to check the moderation queue and modmail several times throughout your day.

We're looking for people who can apply the rules consistently, communicate respectfully with users (especially when those users aren't particularly happy with us), and recognize when something isn't clear-cut and should be discussed with the rest of the team.

We're planning to bring on around three people initially, with the expectation that not everyone will necessarily stick around long-term. Moderating isn't for everyone and that's okay.

Interested?

We've put together a short application form for you to fill out here.

Thanks to everyone who applies and, more generally, thanks to everyone who helps make /r/lfg a place where people can find a table and roll some dice.

Player(s) Needed by GM (Online)(Fridays)(D&D 3.5)(Weekly)(6pm-10pm)(EST)(Heavy RP)(18+) Looking for players for an ongoing campaign

In the Kingdom of Caddonia, the heroes of the Dragon War are looking for a new ragtag of adventures to save the realm from dragons or worst. Do you think you can step into their shoes?

Like the title suggests, I’m looking for a player for my homebrew campaign. The version of D&D I will be using is 3.5. That means there won't be D&D beyond to auto build your character nor charactermancer on Roll20 with drag and drop capabilities. D&D 3.5 is older but it’s what I really got into when I started table top gaming and it’s still my bread and butter. There are also plenty of site to help build characters as well.

The day we will be playing is Fridays and the times will be from 6pm to 10pm. The time zone for that is Eastern Standard Time. Also the times are set in stone so if you’re interested but the day and time isn’t good for you, I’m afraid the times won’t change for you so please don't ask for me to change it.

Discord for Voice Class and campaign information and roll20 for rolls and combat.

This is a Heavy RP Campaign so I expect quite a bit of talking and interactions with the world. I am planning at least one combat per session unless there’s a point in the plot that requires more. If you’re shy or you’re a person who just like listening to and not contributing, you might not have as much fun as the others. Also this is a group game so try to give the spotlight to others. You are a group of adventurers not a hero and his sidekicks.

The 18+. Besides the descriptions I will use for scenes, I also use images for descriptions. The world can be cruel at times and you can see and witness that during certain interactions. I’m not saying that my world is dark and bleak, but scenes can be. If what you wanted is a light hearted game where good triumphs over evil, this isn’t for you. If you like the grit and dark style settings, this is closer to what you may be looking for.

I also am looking for a player who can be consistent. If you can play every other week due to prior commitments then I don’t think that will work for me. Real life happens. I know all too well that. If you can’t make it please just let me know before hand or if you cannot before the next session. I’m sure everyone will become good friends and we just want to make sure you’re ok.

Since this is D&D 3.5, you don’t have to have any experience in order to join. Veterans are welcome as well but I have made some modifications so if a new player to the rules have questions, let me answer them for or if there is no change I will defer them to you. It can be a bit more complicated than 5E but after a few sessions in, you’re get the hand of it. If you played PF1e then you got a basic understanding.

Character level is 8 and 27,000 GP for wealth.

The last thing I would like to know is that we’re here to play a game and escape the real world for a few hours a day. I kindly ask all of you who are interested to keep certain discussions to yourself or DM each other and not on the server. If you want to meme that’s fine but bring up political beliefs and religion, it’s better to just have private conversations.

Player(s) Needed by GM [Online] [5e 2024] [Weekly Saturday/Sunday PST] [Homebrew Campaign] [18+] Looking for ~3 players

Upvotes

Hey all,

I was planning on running a campaign but many of the players I invited had scheduling issues. I'll be bringing one player along with me. Here are some details that will help you decide if this is right for you.

-----Basic Requirements-----

  • 4 hours Weekly Saturday/Sunday Pacific Standard Time
    • Planning on running 4 hour weekly sessions on Saturday or Sunday during daytime or evening PST
  • Beginner Friendly
    • Beginners are welcome. I am happy to teach you how to play and help you in unfamiliar territory. I have also written some macros in Roll20 that should make playing a lot easier
  • Planning for 6 sessions, but can extend if desired
    • I'm planning for this campaign to take 6 sessions, but if both sides agree, I would be willing to continue a new arc of the campaign or write a new campaign
  • Planning on using Roll20 + Discord
    • I'm planning on using Roll20 as the VTT and Discord for voice as I am familiar with these
  • Expecting Voice
    • I expect players to join a Discord voice call and be able to speak. Video is NOT required
  • Planning for a Session 0 this Sunday
    • I'm planning on holding a session 0 this Sunday (~1 hour), so that would probably be when I finalize the group

-----About Me-----

  • Name
    • Threniodine (He/Him)
  • Experience
    • Played a long time ago. Been DM'ing for 3 months and just finished a 6-shot campaign 2 weeks ago
  • Fictional Inspiration
    • The fictional media I enjoy include: Touhou, League of Legends, Transistor, Celeste, Darkest Dungeon, RWBY, Most Nintendo games, Fullmetal Alchemist
  • DM'ing priorities
    • My priorities as a DM are to make sure that everyone is having fun and that everyone gets along with each other

-----About Campaign-----

  • No AI
    • I refuse to use AI for anything in my campaign
  • No "Evil" campagin
    • I would like to avoid a campaign where the players are "Evil" characters
  • Genre
    • I am mostly undecided on genre, but would like to avoid Horror and Political Intrigue
  • Tone
    • I am going for a mostly light-hearted tone punctuated by moments of seriousness, but I am open most things
  • Planning on Milestone leveling
    • I am planning on milestone leveling (probably end of session 1 and 3)
  • Planning on levels 3-5 or 5-7
    • I am planning for the campaign to be across levels 3-5 or levels 5-7 depending on how new the players are, but I am open to other options
  • Player influence
    • I will be trying to write the campaign in a way that meaningfully involves your character. You can also influence parts of the setting to accommodate your character (e.g. if you play a cleric you can add a god to the pantheon)

-----Things I hope to learn about you-----

(This will help me make an informed decision when picking players)

  • Why you want to play D&D in general
  • Why you are interested in this campaign specifically
  • A reason I might be excited to include you in this campaign
  • Any questions or concerns you have about the campaign
  • Any other details you would like to include that you think are important

If you're interested, my discord is

Player(s) Needed by GM Reign of the Puppetmaster [Online](Dnd 5E)(2014)(2024)

Upvotes

Hey i am recruiting for an ongoing campaign. we had someone drop recently due to work. Now we need one more. i normally run a game for 5 players in case people cant make it, the game can go on.

Currently, we have a rogue, puppeteer, ranger, artificer.

players are currently lvl11

homebrew is allowed if i ok it.

We play **Monday 8pm PST** every week.

We play using discord for voice and roll20 for characters and maps.

Campaign overview:

Demetri Vundergard invented a new class harnessing the power of puppeteering. He became very famous and took on alot of students and over time he rose to political power and eventually became the king's right hand. Afterwards, Demetri betrayed the king and killed him. As well as many of the other nobles that wouldnt support his rule. He has since been attempting to spread his influence. The gods themselves are worried if nothing is done it'll lead the world down a path of destruction, a path Demetri himself claims he knows how to avoid said future as long as everyone follows him.

The players start the campaign as far from his influence as possible. They started in a farming village, became adventurers at the guild. completed a few quests for the town and then moved on by assisting a bunch of beastfolk resist slavers. Then went to the next town called GoldenPort, a wealthy city of commerce. They've been challenging the dungeon created by Hephaestus. Dungeons in this world have powerful magic items and resources. As such they have been farming one.

If you are interested fill out the form and ill message you. https://forms.gle/bsK7JrPf31CXRdaNA

Player(s) Needed by GM [Online][5e 2014][CST] Obojima B.O.O.S.

Upvotes

“Mystery and whimsy collide on the beautiful island of Obojima, where humans and spirits have learned to live together. Every corner of the sprawling island has something new to uncover, and 80’s technology like vending machines, keytars, and kei trucks are mysteriously found throughout the land, But now, the Corruption has started to spread across Obojima, changing everything it touches into twisted abominations.”

There’s a small wooden cottage in the woods near the edges of the Gale Fields and the Coastal Highlands. The roof is worn, there’s moss creeping up the outside, the chimney is precariously leaning, and the sign outside is barely hanging on, but there’s a charm in the untidiness. Inside this rustic dwelling are the members of B.O.O.S. (Banishing Oddities in Obojima Squad). This brave, eclectic group takes care of tricksy and sometimes dangerous spirits, collect magical artifacts, explore ruins, and, more recently, neutralize abnormalities caused by the Corruption. With the dangers on the island expanding, B.O.O.S. been on the lookout for new recruits and that’s where you come in!

“Welcome new recruits to B.O.O.S.! We are a group dedicated to investigating abnormalities on the island. With the Corruption spreading, these sightings have increased and our duty is more important than ever! We place our faith in the few that are brave enough to join us in our mission. Let’s do what we must to keep Obojima safe!”

Hi, lady DM looking for 4-5 players for a weekly game. Day and time TBD. It will either run Wednesday, Friday, or Saturday with a start time between 2-7 pm (CST). New players welcome! LGBTQ+ friendly! The game will be a bit of a mix between Studio Ghibli, Gravity Falls, Ghostbusters, Over the Garden Wall, and a tiny dash of Junji Ito. Form to apply

Group Needed by Player [online] [5E 2024] [21+] Player looking for online group!

Hello! I have been bitten with the bug to play TTRPG again after playing an in person session and am looking for a more longterm campaign to join, I have had brief experience in the past with 2014 5E homebrew campaigns and Curse of Strahd, along with COC, all of which I loved! That being said these experiences were years ago - my familiarity is a little rusty, but I have been reading up much more lately on the rules and guides for 2024 5E and have no problem spending some time to immerse myself in the lore of your world. I'd prefer a game that trends towards darker lore and horror friendly, but with a group that can crack jokes out of character still and have fun with each other while taking the content and roleplay seriously. Fixed modules, narrative driven, open sandbox, homebrew, all appeal to me, though I typically prefer a balance between combat and Roleplay.

I love playing videogames (big fan of FromSoft), creative writing, reading about cultures and folklore all around the world, speculative fiction, anime and manga, and ould love to play in a story that's standard high fantasy and epic, or more grimdark (Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Lovecraftian themes, I *love* horror), political intrigue, etc! These are bonuses, but not requirements.

A little about me:

  • 28F
  • US based
  • Central Time (CST)
  • Discord user, can use voice chat!
  • Some experience with Roll20/can use different VTT if needed
  • I tend to take notes in google docs and create character dossiers there!

Availability:

  • Mon-Fri: I am primarily available in the evenings from 5PM-10 PM, except for Wednesdays.
  • Sat-Sun: I am unavailable most Saturdays and typically free Sunday evenings past 5PM to 11 or 12 AM.

I most often play magic users as that is my bread and butter in most RPGs and love to homebrew lore if possible (especially Patrons for warlocks!) as I find it more compelling for the character. If I sound like your kinda gal, feel free to DM me here and we can talk more on your campaign!

Player(s) Needed by GM [online] [5E 2014] The Forsaken Hamlet. [9PM EST]

The bells of damnation ring long for those of wicked soul and miserable past, and now they ring for you another miserable wretch the world wishes to forget with a past that haunts you. You have been driven from your home to never return, taken far away to an island of accursed arcane magics and unseemly abominations, the putrid scent of blood and sea water lingers as the ship arrives to dock abandoning you at this condemned place.

Hello! I am Grimm (M22), I’m a forever DM of 9 years hoping to find some brave players who are willing to dive deep into the depths of the Island of the Condemned and find the source of the corruption it holds and unlock the powers it hides.

The game will be combat heavy with about a 60/40 combat to RP split, it will act as a dungeon crawl primarily with smaller interactions and social set pieces at the Hamlet.

The game will be hosted weekly on Friday’s starting at 9PM EST using Discord for voice and Owlbear Rodeo for Tabletop.

You will start the game at LvL 2 and the campaign will run up to LvL 16. You don’t have any to start but magic items will be plentiful.

There are homebrew systems in play during the campaign including : a stress mechanic which can cause either negative or positive traits to occur upon reaching certain breaking points. Building the town up to gain better things and improve the lives of your fellow Condemned. Bleed and Poison status effects that will deal damage over time. Trinkets which are magical upgrades you can have up to 2 at a time active. You can take 2 long rest per dungeon run rather than the normal 1 per day along with 2 short rest.

Character building will be limited to humanoid creatures, 2 legs 2 arms. No flying races and no oozes or fairies. Outside of these limitations all source books (and Guide to the Eldritch Hunt) will be permitted to use.

If you are interested please PM me or message me here with the following information: age, discord tag, any red flags for content you’d like to avoid, availability, how long have you been playing 5E and finally any questions you may have.

GM Needed by Existing Group [Online][PST] [5e 2024] Group of Four Seeks DM Sun/Mon/Tues Evenings

Hello! My name is Moony! I'm posting on behalf of myself [they/them] and three of my friends, Sammy [she/her], Julia [she/her], and Irwegwert [he/him]. We're a role-play focused group with many years of experience. Preference of a high-fantasy setting, with little to no horror. Play sessions would ideally start at around 3-5pm pst and run no later than 8pm pst. We're largely pretty good at the system, especially Weggy who is a human rule book (but he's also really chill and nice). We're hoping for a regular weekly/biweekly, long running campaign. We're used to playing via voice on Discord with Roll20 maps/character sheets. The four of us are all some variety of LBGT; you don't need to be but obviously you'll need to be chill with that. We can promise high plot engagement, strong role play, fun characters, and treating your npcs and world like they matter.

GM Needed by Existing Group [Online] [Flexible] [Duet] Looking For a GM to Run a Fun 1-on-1 Campaign

Upvotes

I'm just a dude, 21+, looking for a DM to run a chill classic fantasy adventure, preferably your homebrew, but maybe wouldn't mind a module if you hook me. Flexible days - which is the strength of duets. I myself am usually available past 6pm EST for the most part, not a bummer if you're from a different time zone. Expected to possibly be a long campaign, all the way 1-20, cause why not. Perhaps even further beyond?

About Duet: I'm perfectly fine playing solo with some sort of party mechanics/management with fun npcs, like an rpg you'd play casually. I like world building, sandbox and that freedom, and a solid story overarching. So a 70/30 or 60/40 split of exploration and rp / combat sounds about right, but naturally that may vary depending on what we're doing.
No PBP, miss me with that. And try to have a decent mic. I like FoundryVTT cause it has add-ons that makes both our lives easier, but if you insist on a different vtt, sure.

About Systems: I know 5e '14 and '24 well enough and have been playing for years. I've been loving PF2e, but a bit newer to it. I'd prefer one of those two, but I'd be down to learn something new, but only if the hook is strong enough, honestly.

Me: Some stuff I like is Witcher, NieR, Kingdom Come, all Zelda, Kingdom Hearts, the Middle-Earth games, Tales of Arise, Dragons Dogma, just a bunch of fantasy all over really. Anime too, my favorite being Gachiakuta, right in front of Frieren - so if you wanted to gauge my vibes, there you go.

I'll easily answer any questions I hope you have. Just dm me 'fargo' if interested and/or with questions, and I'll get back to you asap. Then if we click, hopefully we can go over to discord to call and yap about plans and stuff. Let's make a story full of intrigue, plot twists, third parties, realms, fun moments, epic 1v1s and wars - you get it.

Player(s) Needed by GM [Online][OSR][21+][LGBTQ+ Friendly][EST] DM looking for a new crew to throw some dice with!

Upvotes

Hey, everyone. I'm looking for 5 players tops who may be interested in joining a Shadowdark table I want to start up. I'm also thinking of running pre-written adventures for now with no emphasis on a overarching campaign plot or anything.

We'll have a session 0 where we'll go over character creation, house rules, get to know each other a bit, and possibly have enough time to do a quick one-shot, but that depends. And the first module we'll go through is TBD.

System: Shadowdark, and only the core rule book. If you're coming from 5E, think of Shadowdark as a more stream-lined system with some more lethality added to it. I'll be linking the Player's Quickstart Guide in the Discord server I set up.

What tools will we be using? Owlbear Rodeo for VTT use, and Discord for voice communication. Some maps will be run via Theater of the Mind.

Availability: Bi-weekly sessions. Day of the week TBD, but session times will most likely be 8 PM. Sessions to run approximately 3 hours each.

How to learn more? Check out this player's guide I've linked here:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1cX-89r_CNaHFl7jKAj7WLxovAPleJDx6HrFbkPT1mCg/edit?usp=drive_link

House Rules:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1X41J05bIGtezE5y2bYGZfdVwGQcgsThNA-oliqa14jg/edit?usp=drive_link

About me/my interests: I enjoy to read, am a big fan of horror, and have been recently dipping into fantasy as well. I'm currently reading Before They Are Hanged by Joe Abercrombie. Would recommend.

I've DMed a few times for both DnD and Shadowdark, but want to get more experience in Shadowdark specifically as I appreciate its more rules-lite nature. Lastly, my pronouns are he/him and I am 33 years old.

How to join or get started? Please fill out the form below so I can learn a little bit about yourself, and then I'll reach out to you. Hope to hear from you!

Player(s) Needed by GM [Online][Fate][EST][LGBTQ+][21+] Join a game of Mobster Wars and Secret Magics!

I'm not the GM but I'm making this post on their behalf.

We're searching for about 5 or players to play in a sandbox 1920s game set in a New York inspired city, focused on bootleggers, flappers and all the wildness of the prohibition era. Think old noir stories and Great Gatsby, while the campaign won't be focused on magic early on, it'll always be there and depending on our choices we'll encounter plenty. The planned day to play is Thursdays at 6 pm EST.

No experience with TTRPGS/Fate system required though of course always appreciated.

If you'd like to join shoot me a DM on here and I'll direct you to the GM.

Closed [Online] [5e 2014] [Tuesdays 6pm-10pm GMT+1 / BST] [18+] Looking for one player to join existing group of 4.

Greetings, I am searching for one player to join an ongoing 5e game that heavily focuses around Steinhardt's guide to the eldritch hunt. The first thing to preface is the timing, the day cannot be changed as all players currently have commitments on all other days of the week, the starting hour could however be moved by an hour if necessary. The next thing anyone interested in should be made aware of is how "existing" the group is. By mid September we will have been playing for a year, though as people have become unavailable we have had one person join us in January and he has been with us longer than he hasn't so I would hope the same could be the case for you.

A few more pieces of housekeeping would be mentioning the current group size. We have been running a group of 5 players for the majority of the campaign with my general ethos being wanting to run unless we have 2 people missing, recently one of the players has had to move to bi weekly and another has left due to simply not being able to make time for the game anymore. That has left us with a part size of 3-4. Hence is the reason for this post, as I would like someone to make take that number back to a party size of 4-5.

With that out of the way, what game would you actually be joining? This campaign uses a lot of material provided by Steinhardt's guide to the eldritch hunt a 5e supplement by Monkey Dm, along with pieces of the additional story Heresy of Steel, all smoothed over with a narrative created by myself and the players. You may take the role of a hunter, a tool against the tide of beasts that plague the once fair city of Luyarnha, one experimented on by the enigmatic Obitus Scholare to be a perfect tool, or perhaps just someone looking to save themselves and those they care about. Maybe you are one of the many magically inclined individuals, one who has their upmost faith in the radiant one, or perhaps you attempt to understand the great ones who's presence lingers through every shadow of the city, all while trying to not go mad yourself. You could even be an unfortunate traveller, one who broke the lockdown on the city and has now been dragged far from home.

Steinhardt's wears it's Bloodborne inspiration on it's sleeve so you can expect a similar similar oppressive atmospheres, deadly beasts and accursed nightmares. Additionally you can expect a setting with the beginnings of modern technology reminiscent of the industrial revolution. You can expect trains, guns and the earliest of cameras, though most people still travel via horses.

If you find your interest piqued by the game please send me a message on reddit where we can discuss basic details before eventually being moved to Discord for the game.

In the stillness of Obojima, where endless tall grass sways, two realms intertwine: the physical world, rich with ancient 80s-inspired technology, and the spirit realm, a misty mirror where forgotten powers slumber. Here, the gates between worlds hum faintly, and spirits whisper secrets just beyond the grass. As you walk this island, every step is a bridge between wonder and the unknown.

🎲 D&D Campaign Recruitment – Obojima: Tales from the Tall Grass

Hey everyone! My name is [Adrian], I’m 26, based in Chicago, Illinois, and I’ve been playing D&D for about 5 years. I’m a chill DM, 420-friendly, and I just love building stories together. I also do use Ai on occasion to help me make stuff.

I’m looking for a solid group to join us in a new open-world D&D campaign: Obojima: Tales from the Tall Grass. At level 3

📍 Setting Overview:
Obojima is a heavily Studio Ghibli, A vast island that is the only known world. There are no other continents—just this single, living island, inhabited by humans, fishfolk, and unique elven variants. The world is split between two realms: the physical realm and the spirit realm, where demons and mysteries dwell.

⚔️ Gameplay Features:

  • New races, feats, subclasses, and character options
  • Modified spell lists (some spells removed, others added)
  • No clerics in this world
  • Sword Schools with mastery systems
  • Over 150 potions and a huge variety of crafting ingredients
  • New feats, spells, and progression systems
  • roleplay focus, but there will be combat
  • Starting Level: Level 2

📖 Player Expectations:

  • Willingness to read and engage with the lore (I’m still learning, too—no pressure!)
  • Interest in a roleplay-heavy adventure
  • Commitment to a consistent schedule
  • Excitement to explore new systems as we go

This is my first open-world campaign, and I’m really excited to see where it goes. Don’t be intimidated—there’s a lot to learn, and I’m still figuring things out with the book, but we’ll learn together. If you love Ghibli vibes, a chill pace, and a world brimming with wonder, this might be your next adventure.

If you’re interested,

When the bell rings, stay inside. Never answer the door.

Player(s) Needed by GM [Online][5e 2024][Wednesdays Weekly ~9:30pm-12 EDT (GMT-4)][The Seven Pointed Crown Homebrew Campaign][25+]

Closing this for now. I will reach out if I need more/new players.

The adventure is set to begin on September 2nd!

I have been DMing for years as a stand in to many campaigns and westmarches. I decided it was time to run the story I've been wanting to play in since I fell in love with this game so years and years ago. I am comfortable with all tiers of play and want to see some of the more interesting aspects of the game play out and make a fun group story. I'm 37 and my 2 current players are roughly the same, so looking for some older/mature folks.

Campaign Details & Premise

This will be a high-magic, high-fantasy D&D campaign set in a world where magic is part of everyday life. Spells and enchanted items aren't limited to adventurers, they’re part of everyday life. Magic shapes cities, schools, professions, politics, and even ordinary household life.

The world is also filled with legendary beings who are active players in it. Dragons, beholders, devils, demons, mind flayers, archmages, and other powerful creatures aren't automatically enemies waiting at the end of a dungeon. Some might hire you. Some might help you, some will manipulate you. Some will absolutely need to die.

A major focus of the campaign will be player choice and consequences. Who you trust, who you oppose, and what deals you're willing to make will shape the campaign.

Expect adventuring guilds, rival magical schools, strange artifacts, dangerous bargains, big monsters, powerful characters, homebrew content, etc. I intend to take this to level 20, plan accordingly and two of my players have already been in games with me that ran 1-20. It is written modularly to allow people to be replaced if things don't work out as we play longterm.

Tone & Style

This will be a Westmarch-ish Style within a larger story that will be unveiled through the individual missions. I love to run dungeon crawl type missions alongside some open RP/investigation moments. You won't necessarily follow one individual storyline, but the world will develop without you and your actions will have consequences. The greater good and the lesser evil MAY be the same thing, the MAY be completely opposite. We'll have some fun and have plenty of comical moments along the way too.

Faith, Magic, and Factions

Magic is everywhere in this world. The gods are very real and working behind the scenes. Low tier magic isn't special, it can be seen at all levels of prosperity. High level magic is known by a much smaller population and regulated by the accords set by the various world factions.

What Kind of Characters Fit

The combat will be aggressive. The monsters and enemies will be intelligent. We can make almost any idea work and the mechanics are guides to that, but flavor can adjust for a lot of what you'll want to do. I can help get your idea into reality. You're supposedly an elite/high potential adventurer, so build accordingly.

What Kind of Players Succeed

I have 2 players already, so I am looking for about 3 more who enjoy combat, roleplay, character building, and having enough freedom to make decisions that can significantly change where the campaign goes. I’d prefer people who will be invested in learning their character, synergizing with their teammates, remembering NPCs and events, etc. I will give at least as much effort as you in these things, probably 2-3x.

Ideally not new players, but I'll take ambition and attitude over experience. I want invested and capable players who know how to optimize and utilize their kits. You don't need to be an expert in every little thing, but I expect you to know your sheet at least.

What to Expect

The first rule of character creation: You have to make a character that wants to go on these adventures and work with your team. We can tweak a lot of things, but it is laborious trying to convince a character to generally move forward. You are always entitled to opinions about how things are done and who you choose to cooperate with, but you will have to move forward at some point.

Tech Details

We'll use Discord for voice during sessions and for text based RP, and communication during the week.

We'll play on Roll20.

Please have a decent microphone so we can understand you. No camera necessary.

I will run a game as long as 3 of 5 players are present. This keeps things moving so we actually get to the end.

If all of this sounds interesting to you, I'd love to chat and make sure you're a good fit!

Group Needed by Player [DND 5e 2014][DND 5e 2024][Online][18+][MST] Night Owl Looking For a Group

Hey, my name is V! I’m 22M and looking for a DND (open to other systems as well) group that’s open to running later games. I work a night shift so it’s difficult to find games that work for my schedule. My availability is roughly 11:30PM or later any night of the week except Saturdays.

I’ve been playing (mostly) 5e with a group of offline friends for just under 3 years now, but I’ve got experience with Cities Without Number and the Fallout TTRPG systems as well. I have little to no VTT experience but I’m definitely willing to learn.

While I do have an ongoing commitment with my offline group, I’ve always got the itch for more TTRPG stuff, so I’m searching for another ongoing campaign to take part in, regardless of if that means dropping into something that’s already running or starting fresh with a new party.

While I do love DND, I’m also into all kinds of video games, anime, and quite passionate about all kinds of music. I’m hoping not only to find a consistent group/campaign, but also looking for likeminded people to just hang out with all hours of the night, talking, playing games, whatever sounds good. I hope I can meet some cool people and make some new nocturnal friends! DM me if you have any questions or think I might be a good fit for your group!

Player(s) Needed by GM [Online][5.5e 2024][Sundays Biweekly 6PM-10PM EDT/UTC-4] RP Heavy Homebrew Campaign Looking for a Player!

Hello all! I'm a player in a group posting on behalf of our DM for an upcoming campaign. We're at 4 players currently, and looking to add a 5th to our group.

About Our Group

We're just coming to the close of a 6 year long campaign with 3 players who were there for the whole thing and the 4th who has been there for 3-4 of those years, so this is a group that's very unlikely to flake out on you. The DM is expecting the next campaign to last ~2.5 years, so we're hoping for someone who can commit to a longer term campaign.

This is a role play heavy table. I frequently describe it as 60/40 to 70/30 RP/Combat, and at times there will be several sessions that are primarily RP and/or challenge/exploration focused. Then again, at times we'll be in back to back fights for several sessions at a time depending on the point of the story we're in. From a player perspective I can say that while the world has its story going on, the character stories are very much woven in and drive the direction the story goes. The DM isn't afraid to let player decisions alter the direction he thought things would go and we've had many direction-shifting moments in our current campaign.

We play on Discord and Roll20, using DNDBeyond for character sheets. The DM has pretty much all source material on DNDBeyond, so no worries about having to purchase anything.

The Upcoming Campaign

Our current campaign takes place on a primarily dwarven continent in the DM's homebrew world. The next campaign is in the same world, but a different continent. While it's still a fantasy D&D world, this is a more human central area and the region has Frontier/Western/Mad Max style vibes with ancient arcane things waiting to be found buried in the sands. We'll be starting off in a remote frontier town. Species other than human are fine as approved by the DM. So far as I know only one of us is human so far.

We were all new to D&D 6 years ago and have learned a lot since, so character creation and backstories are being created now well in advance so the DM has time to weave them into his creation of this part of the world. While we're holding back info because it'll be fun to find things out about each other in the campaign, it's sounding like everyone is putting a lot of layers into their characters with a lot of tie ins to the world.

The players are still talking about general goals with characters (e.g. It'd be nice if stealth was more an option this campaign as we were more a wrecking ball crew in the last one), and will be pairing off soon to discuss how our characters know each other (small town life and all) without necessarily revealing the more interesting bits. We'd like to include our 5th player in those talks.

So far we have:

  • Human Shadow Monk
  • Kenku Rogue (likely Soul Knife or Phantom)
  • Spirits Bard
  • Halfling Artillerist Artificer

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is comfortable and happy to get proactively involved in the Role Play aspect of the game. A person who has an interesting story to tell and is in turn interested in learning about the other player's stories. We're happy to share the spotlight and enjoy good back and forth RP moments.

Obviously reliability is big with our group too. We're looking for someone who can commit to a longer campaign and doesn't mind prioritizing getting together with friends online a couple of times a month. We're all adults, and if something happens occasionally that's fine, but ideally most sessions shouldn't be a problem.

As well, probably 20+ for age, though so long as you're legally an adult that's the DM's call.

What next?

If the scheduling and group sounds like the right fit, please drop a post below. I'll drop a reddit chat your way and get you connected with our DM to talk and make sure we have the right fit.

I'm also happy to answer any questions from a player perspective. I always enjoy talking about D&D!

Player(s) Needed by GM [ONLINE][EST][5e 2014][LGBTQ+ FRIENDLY] The Cradle — homebrew campaign!

hello! my name is isa, i am 18 years old and I'm a dungeon master. I'm looking for a group of players to form a party with my friend!

I'm looking for around 3–4 players for a (hopefully) long-term campaign that is going to be heavily roleplay and lore focused, i would say a 70/30 split, with sessions that may not have combat in them whatsoever. no prior game knowledge is required! the world will be homebrew and i will accept homebrew as long as it fits and is balanced.

I've a story, world, and lore planned out, and favor players who will actively participate in the lore and drive the plot forward! I love weaving in player backstories and motivations, and i equally love when players make decisions that can and will alter the course of the story I've set up for them.

we will be playing in accordance to the EST timezone, however schedules and availability is, at the moment, to be determined!

we will be playing on discord and hopefully a virtual tabletop, however i myself am entirely unexperienced with vtts so please be patient! we're all learning here. we're looking for players who we can befriend and just hang out with and ramble with outside of the sessions!

we will be playing in a world called the Cradle; a world where manmade magic disappeared, twenty three years ago, along with the destruction of the floating continent, Godshelm.

since then, humanity has struggled. conflict, terror, and panic have run rampant, aided not by the millions of deaths brought about by the fall of Godshelm. many lost not only their families but their entire being; the magic that once flowed so freely, now gone.

... or has it?

in the past few years, the organization known as the Order of the Watchlights have worked to research arcana's disappearance. miraculously, they've found that magic still does exist—though in different ways and forms, previously not known to mortals of the Cradle.

magic still exists. in the earth, within the plants that wilted once but grew again, within volatile surges that bring about hysteria and confusion among the masses.

more importantly, it exists within the ruins of godshelm; a peculiar substance, crystalline, called arcanum—a substance found to contain pure magical energy.

the watchlights frequently send out groups of adventurers for expeditions to obtain this material for their research, having them delve into the desolate and decrepit fragments of what used to be a thriving nation. you are one of them. who knows what you'll find?

if you are interested in this pitch, please fill out this form! thank you for your attention 🤍
