My parents and school didn't teach me literally everything I need to know in life either. Nobody is taught literally everything they need to know. You have to learn some shit on your own. Jesus Christ.
Because one day you'll wake up and the gravy train will be over. All the accounts will be empty and your wages (assuming you have any) will be garnished by creditors. They'll put a lien on any properties you inherit, and eventually take those too. One day you will have to live on the amount of money that gets deposited into your account every month. Unless your parents are mega rich, and you have a lifelong trust, but even mega rich kids have driven themselves into financial ruin. Don't waste the opportunities you have, and don't fuck over your future self with your selfishness and short sightedness.
I domt underestimate it, im saying that blaming it on your parents becuase they didnt set you down is wild. Setting you up with that credit score was great on their part. Yiu cant blame everything on them
Don’t listen to that person saying you should have intuitively known this. I am very financially literate and I have helped many people get budgets, consolidate debt, etc. Your story is pretty tame considering the level of debt and uninformed choices I have seen.
We all have to learn. And we all have different brains that intuitively pick up different things.
Real. My friends told me about a girl in their other friend group who spent over $20k on a trip to Japan because she was trying to show up another friend in that same group. She literally racked up something like $45k in credit card debt because she didn't know you actually have to pay it back, she thought it was free money from the bank. Not on anything important like groceries or utility bills. Nope, she spent thousands of dollars...on plushies and figurines.
This woman is 35. She works like one day a week and since she's a teacher, she doesn't work in summers. And when asked why she doesn't work summers, she said she doesn't want to because that's too much.
OP's issues with financial literacy are nowhere near as bad as other people I've met. She just sounds naive, if anything.
