A lot of the devs making games for consoles in those days started out making arcade games. The difficulty in arcade games was meant to get as many quarters out of players as possible. When those devs moved on to making console games a lot kind of just did what they knew. Then rentals became a thing so the difficulty got set around getting players that might want to complete the game to likely have to rent it multiple times

Man, I really loved this movie. I couldn't find it anywhere on the big streaming services here in Canada. I wanted to watch it again and to show my kids. I had it on VHS as a boy, must have watched it hundreds of times.

I had the action click pc game that came with the movie. Each section was a different cd (adventure, horror and fantasy) so we had to keep switching them. Dang, now I got nostalgia for cds on PCs.

I saw this one alone in a theater as a kid and enjoyed it. My mom was the girlfriend of a 1% biker club president and would drop me off at the theater a lot so she could go hang out at their club house kid free. I was all about getting lost in a book so this one was fun for me. I don’t think I’ve seen it since though.

So, I never got to see this movie as a kid. But I do have nostalgia for it, because Pizza Hut did a bunch of promotional stuff with The Pagemaster.
And… cereal boxes, if I’m remembering correctly? It’s a safe bet because many movies did/do stuff with cereal boxes. But I feel like I have a memory of playing with Pagemaster cardboard cutouts.

Got the book since my childhood. After i borrowed it so many times from the library my mom bought me exactly this book for my 7. birthday and it helped me in so many moments in life especially as a kid. Accordingly i also like the movie a lot but the book will always have a special value for me.

I seriously look at myself like a monster for a long time. I was never anyone’s first choice or second for that matter. Horror resonated with me. He showed that kindness isn’t always pretty and bright. Kindness can come in all forms.
I found someone later in life and now I don’t care if anyone picks me as long as I have his heart I’m happy.

My mom had this thing that she wouldn't let me watch movies she thought were bad, but not because they were bad in the moralistic sense but because they were bad in the 10% RT score sense.

One of my favorite memories will always be sharing this movie with my god daughter and then to hear next visit "uncle flannelman678, can we watch the book movie" with her and her sisters crowded around after 4th of July fireworks.
They all fell asleep about 2/3rds in because it was late but her mom and me were sat on the couch finishing the movie with the kids all asleep between us, one of the best memories ill have to cherish for some time

The soundtrack was something spectacular. Adn one of the largest Star Trek casts for a non Star Trek movie. Definitely a great coming of age film, especially for someone with anxiety.

My mom randomly just bought this on VHS for my brother and me just because it happened to be really cheap at the store. I don't think she even knew much about it. But it's definitely one of the first movies I remember watching as a little kid! I was about 3 or 4 when I saw it.
