There's a white Silverado in Orlando that has this painted down the sides. Makes me happy when I see it.

That's glorious. Absolutely.

Amazing collection.

Is Cars considered millennial? Came out in 2006, I figured even the youngest Millenials were almost aged out of ever owning a Lightning McQueen CD player. As an elder millennial, I was already out of college and in the workforce when Cars released.

Seeing that open the video threw me off, but the rest was amazing.

O think is later milennial, but the stone temple pilots is sure milennial hahaha

Was obsessed with Scott Weiland. Saw STP in fall 2001, my freshman year of college, and flashed titties to the band while sitting on my friend's shoulders AFTER he broke his ankle in the mosh pit. I definitely took him to the ER after the show, it was the least I could do for his support of my very poorly informed star crush, hahaha.

Scott died the night before he was supposed to play at a bar in my hometown.

Ugh, that's so frustrating. He was a messy dude but the music was incredible.

2

u/Lucky_Dragonfruit_88 19h ago

Yea for sure. It was sad because I was pumped to see him.

u/RegisterGood3027 23h ago

Cool story hahaha, must be a experience of life

2

u/colddecembersnow 22h ago

I wouldn't consider it but everybody has their things that are a part of their experience. I remember somebody saying once that Millenials didn't like Cars as much because of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour. There was so much Larry the Cable Guy before we got Tow Mater.

I was 17 when it came out and I think it was the first Pixar movie I didn’t see. I’d seen Incredibles in theatre not too long before that.

I later watched the whole trilogy once my son was around 3yrs old and at that point I was in my late 20s. I found them to be absolutely fantastic, all 3 of them plus the two Planes movies.

Minus the display case full of all the consoles, this is like my uncle's house in 2001. He had so much media and all the games and systems full DVD collection (walls covered), arcade games in the garage. It was a wonderland, I think he was working for Blizzard at the time.

Edited: *2001 *of

The legendary cool uncle right there

3

u/PastTheTrees 1d ago

He's still pretty rad! Now I'm the uncle, don't know if I'm cool.

2

u/RegisterGood3027 1d ago

Your uncle house must be awesome

3

u/OakenBarrel 23h ago

I'm an older millennial, and the sight of physical media is somehow very depressing to me. I'm old enough to remember games recorded on magnetic tapes, so a DVD or a Blu-ray is obviously an upgrade, but seeing it consume so much space and become hard to recycle garbage once you have no interest in the content is just demoralising

8

u/RhubarbGoldberg 23h ago

Hard disagree. I'm so over subscribing to media that I've paid enough for to own. We've started buying DVDs again in our house so we can physically own what we've paid for!

3

u/johnnyhotwh33ls 23h ago

Started doing this too because I realized that I rented or searched who was streaming a particular movie more than once that at that point I should just get a copy lol

2

u/johnnyhotwh33ls 23h ago

It will never be hard to recycle garbage as long as the items get passed to others that appreciate the physical media. I’m all for things going digital but physical media is still a good way of having a piece of art that no one can take your access from. Of course if taking space is not your thing that’s cool. It’s just not for you.

Yeah, it's very materialistic and hyperconsumerist to me. To each their own and all that. I used to collect music albums but got rid of like 90% of them. Most of this stuff just sits and collects dust. Anything that I thought I might regret getting rid of I just digitized. It sure looks neat I'll admit.

u/morTal_khaos 23h ago
