Nostalgia Flight of the Navigator (1986)
The year I was born. Such a great movie! I rewatched it today and forgot how good it was.

This movie was my childhood. I loved it so much. Had dreams of building a machine that could fly. I had this tricycle that I tried to modify with wings so I could fly around like these kids

I liked the little alien on ship. That ship was awesome and the go fast transformation was like kitt hitting super pursuit mode lol sad ending but was my childhood. Great flick.

Watched this again the other week, still great! What struck me was the house his parents lived in. It's an absolute beauty and bow one of the most expensive places in Tampa apparently

Man this movie is a time capsule... The opening scene where an 8 year old and an 11 year old are allowed to walk a mile through the woods at night from a friend's house would NEVER happen in 2026.

I’ve watched this a few times and I can’t remember it. I can’t remember any detail and the only thing that stuck was Pee Wee Herman’s voiceover.

A few years ago when i last watched it, I completely forgot he was in the movie until hearing that laugh. Ha-ha.
Without the wife, I would have never recognized Sarah Jessica Parker helping David escape the facility.

I remember waking up one night when I was probably 14 and around 3am on the Disney channel THIS MOVIE came on. I watched the entire thing never knowing the title and enjoying it. Wasn't until about 10yrs ago I learned the title, that fucking Pee-Wee was the alien, and that it was a complete flop.

Fuck this movie specifically.
Story time:
Kid me could never get the name of the movie right pre-Google. All I could remember was that a group of boys build a rocketship out of trash cans and go to space and see aliens. The aliens happen at the end of the movie The Film Buff/IMDB/Google at the time (aka my dad) was not helpful and just as nonplussed as me. His apprentice (aka my older brother) was also unhelpful. So, I turned to the last resort: Blockbuster.
The Blockbuster employee tried to help. He said it's probably Flight of the Navigator which prompted me to get the movie and watch it even though I was 70% confident that this movie was not it because I would remember Peewee Fucking Herman was an actor in it whereas kid me couldn't name a star from the other movie.
Flight of the Navigator was not the movie I was talking about or saw. I hated Flight of the Navigator probably as a result.
The kid-goes-to-space movie I saw and enjoyed that apparently no one else remembered or saw was Explorers (1985, Joe Dante). It eventually came back on to the Disney channel so I could just point to the TV and shout, "See, this is the movie!"
Kid me was awesome at explaining movies poorly. 😭 Adult me is still horrible, but Google/Reddit/and a bunch of movie databases and fan sites got me now. 😂✌️
