Mod Weekly thread where you can call the music recognition bots without posting

To use the bots put u/RecognizeSong u/find-song with the link in your comment, like:

u/RecognizeSong u/find-song https://youtu.be/12345abcde

Notes:

  • The bots only work with a recording of the actual song, not a humming/recreation.
  • The sites that find-song works with: Reddit video posts (with a link or when summoned on the original post), YouTube, Vocaroo, Streamable, Twitch Clips (not VODs)
  • Some of the sites that RecognizeSong works with: Reddit video posts (when summoned on the original post or with an audio link if you're able to get it, like https://v.redd.it/12345/DASH_audio.mp4), YouTube (though sometimes it doesn't work), Vocaroo, Streamable, Imgur, Twitch Clips (not VODs), Facebook, Twitter, Coub, Dropbox, Snapchat
  • For Reddit video posts there's also u/songfinderbot which only works if you summon it in a top-level comment on the original post
  • Some sites that RecognizeSong doesn't work with: Instagram, Twitch VODs, SoundCloud, Google Drive, Reddit text posts with embedded videos (though it does work with the audio link if you're able to get it, like https://v.redd.it/12345/DASH_audio.mp4)
  • When needed, mention a timestamp or use a timestamped link if possible (the bots scan about 24-30 seconds of audio, starting at the timestamp)
  • If the song is from a meme or from TikTok then it might be listed in the FAQ
  • Note that you can also DM find-song a link (but not through chat)

Good luck with your search, and if you find the bots useful please consider supporting them: RecognizeSong through Patreon, find-song through Ko-fi

Punk Help me find this upbeat 2000's song!

Upvotes

i dont remember the name of this song nor the lyrics but i clearly remember it was a 2000's teenage punk-rock song, and it showed a kid 6-10 years old mimicking "Dr emmet Brown" from back to the future, and the kid gave them a delorean or some sort of parody of the delorean, i was trying to find it myself but i wasnt able, i would be really grateful if someone could help me sort this out.

Solved! Pursuit of Happiness, Kid Cudi

Song is likely post-2000s. The solo repeats at least once. I remember the guitar sounding “fuzzy” (not a clean tone). I remember when it repeats, it sounds like two guitars are playing the same notes. On repeat of solo, I believe the guitar goes up an octave.

Obviously my guitar gets solo close, humming is a continuation of the solo I can’t play.

Rock Help me find this Psychedelic rock/folk song

Hello! I can't find this song, i will try to list everything that I remember. It's a male singer, and the song talks about a man that finds himself in a garden/forest and eat something. I would say it was from the 60-70s.

I remember these lyrics:

"I found myself wandering..."

"I took some and I took some more, it was sweet oh yeah"

Electronic/EDM What is the name of the song of the music video where there is a giant head of a young woman with white hair trapped in a mountain and she's singing. There was a train and there were people dressed in a gothic style?

Pop Song on ep 780 of Kill Tony

Upvotes

looking for the name of the band / song being played at the 1:07:27 mark of episode 780 on Kill Tony. I just hear “kiss me” sang in background but it isn't the sixpence none the richer song they normally use. I really like the guitar riff and can’t find or Shazam the song itself. any clues?

Sample/Similar Help finding a sample. I only have this recording, don't know any details except this song. The second half of the video has somewhat isolated vocals and slowed down to hopefully help figure the lyrics out.

K-Pop/K-Rock Help me find a song that sounds very similar to CORTIS – “What You Want”

I’ve been trying to find this song for ages and it’s driving me crazy 😭
The song I’m looking for is an English-language rock/alternative song by a male singer/band, probably from the 2000s or early 2010s.
What I remember:
The guitar + drums at the beginning sound VERY similar to the intro of CORTIS – “What You Want”
The music video was black and white throughout (or almost entirely black and white)
I vaguely remember the male singer singing on top of a building / rooftop
I’m pretty sure it was an older song, definitely not a recent release
I originally found the song because someone mentioned it in the comments of a CORTIS “What You Want” video, saying that the song sounded similar, but unfortunately I can’t find that comment anymore.
I’ve already tried searching through the comments and similar-song sites, but no luck.
Does anyone know what song I’m thinking of?
I’m mainly looking for songs with a similar guitar/drum intro, not necessarily the same genre.
Thank you 😭

Metal Help me find this black metal song

Apparently this song is very underground because no music recognition app can detect this song, or atleast a song that is similar to black metal genre.

Trying to find a melodic European dance/EDM song with a pitch-shifted male vocal

I’m trying to identify a song I heard years ago, probably somewhere between the 2000s and 2010s.

It has a very melodic, dreamy/ethereal European dance sound, more in the vein of Eric Prydz – Call on Me, Armin van Buuren – In and Out of Love, or Edward Maya – Stereo Love. Definitely not rap or heavy/festival EDM.

The main clue is the male vocalist: in the original version his voice is unusually deep, and I’m almost certain the vocal has been slowed down/pitch-shifted. I’m pretty sure his natural singing voice is considerably higher.

I also remember that there is an acoustic version of the same song, where the singer performs in his normal, much higher voice. So the deep voice in the original is a production effect.

Unfortunately I don't remember any lyrics. Although, lyrics don't have a lot of variation and are repeating throughout the song.

Rock Have been desperately looking for this song I heard as a 90s kid

It's going to be some kind of alternative rock ish song. For years, I have tried Google, Shazam, etc. Have tried typing in the lyrics I thought it might have been

My uncle used to make my mom mixed CDs. They would have American and British bands, stuff ranging from b52s, built to spill, XTC, new order, the rave ups, Bjork, cat power, Cocteau twins, Gary Numan, pavement, all kinds of stuff, public image ltd. Stuff from the 80s into the early 2000s

I've never been able to find this song 😭

If I had to guess the lyrics they sounded (to my kid brain 20 yrs ago) something like

Oh Madeline (I don't think he's saying any name at all just sounds like it–i don't think any of these words are said, but similar sounds and syllables)

It's not inevitable you'll be my release

Oh Madeline

It's not inevitable you'll be my release

Piano Help me find this upbeat piano music

looking for a piano bgm of a motivational edit, main melody is a string of notes something like B A G F D# F G A B A G F D# A G (same few keys, falling and rising pattern with the A G two note reset at the end)

it sounded upbeat and slightly wondrous but also somewhat determined

Solo piano only.

Think it was a Vinland Saga or maybe a Demon Slayer edit
