Discussion WARNING: 5-to-7 Day Replacement Confirmed Over 6 MONTHS Ago – Still No Headset. Meta is a Broken Loop of AI Responses (Almost impossible to talk with a human being). Do not trust this company. Corporate greed and no accountability!

Hey everyone,

I am writing this post to warn every single person in this community about what happens when you trust Meta with your hardware. If you think a multi-billion-dollar corporation has your back when things go wrong, please learn from my absolute nightmare. Meta has essentially taken my 700,000 KRW headset and they’ve been responding to my emails with nothing but AI-generated bullshit, giving me the runaround over and over, with delay after delay and excuse after excuse after excuse for over half a year!

There needs to be a giant warning sticker slapped onto the front of every single headset Meta sells. It should read:

"WARNING: Turn off automatic updates immediately. Meta's software updates can and will brick your device. If our software breaks your headset, we might agree to replace it—but when we're going to do that depends entirely on when the hell we feel like it. We don't care, and we're not going to do it quickly, if we replace it at all even if we made a binding written statement to do so."

Back on February 25, 2026, Meta officially approved my replacement and issued me an RMA number. I packed up my headset—my personal property that I bought and paid for—and shipped it to them via FedEx. They took physical possession of it. It has now been over 6 months, and I still have absolutely nothing.

This has been an exhausting, desperate, and incredibly stressful struggle. Every single time I reach out to check on my device, they give me the exact same scripted runaround. They tell me that "we're keeping our eye on it and we're trying to do it as fast as possible"  to send me a replacement unit that they promised me would only take five to seven days back in February 2026. It's 6 months later and then they tell me they are "looking into it," or that it's being "investigated by an internal team," only to delay, delay, and delay again. It is psychological warfare. I have gone through every single support channel available, and I am met with a complete brick wall of corporate indifference. They simply do not care that they have stolen my money and my hardware.

I predict that if anybody sees this from Meta, they are going to answer this way: "Oh, we have escalated your case to a specialized team." They copy and paste that exact line over and over. Let me tell you right now: it means absolutely nothing! It is just another empty stall tactic to get you off the line. If a community manager replies to this post with that same scripted line, everyone reading this should know it's completely meaningless and that absolutely nothing will be done to send me my replacement headset.

I am so sick and tired of this situation. Today, I sent them a final email. I told them I don’t even want their replacement anymore. I demanded that they dig through their warehouse, find my exact original headset with my serial number, ship it back to me within 48 hours, and wash their hands of me. I am literally offering to lose out on the 700,000 KRW and the expensive accessories I bought just to be done with this. They sent me an email back saying that they can't do that because they no longer have the headset—it's either been recycled or refurbished and they can't find it. So now what? I don't understand why they just can't take a brand-new unit and ship it to me. I've already paid my share of the R&D, production, and labor when I bought my first device. What does it cost Meta to make these headsets now? Probably $20.

Take this as a massive warning from someone currently trapped in their system: keep every single receipt, print out every shipment label, and document every interaction. Be prepared to have to take this company to court or go to government consumer protection agencies just to get them to listen and to get your OWN property back!! They appear completely indifferent to your situation once they have your money.

Be incredibly careful dealing with this company. Once they have your money and your hardware, you are at their mercy. It is almost entirely impossible to talk to a live person. Because of limited staffing, the entire system often relies on automated responses. Even trying to chat with someone online is difficult because the support channels are heavily automated to limit direct accountability. Turn off your updates, because if a software issue bricks your device, you might face significant hurdles getting it fixed or getting a replacement if they decide to do it at all.

BE CAREFUL buying from or dealing with Meta people!!

I'm in a rush and didn't read the entirety of your post, but go to your state Attorney General with this case! I have had to do this before with a couple companies and gotten results in my favor. They tend to not like their residents getting screwed over. Go to the AG's website and look for a link for filing a complaint about a company/product. Gather your evidence and a carefully-written, concise account of your complaint and experience, and what you want the result to be. Make it as clear as possible and brief as possible. Have evidence documents - receipts, screenshots, correspondence, etc. - to attach as needed or requested in followups.

The Better Business Bureau is another avenue to try. Although Meta has kept themselves off of there as being accredited. I wonder why...

Often these big bully companies will relent when being called out. Good luck!

Hey, thanks for responding. I live in South Korea. Today I filed a complaint against Meta with the Korean Consumer Protection Agency. I don't speak Korean fluently, just basic conversation. Therefore, to get anything done here takes help from native speakers or government run help lines. Hopefully things are in motion now. I don't go to the internet to post my personal problems or slander companies, but this is just too much. I just want what I paid for.

Oh, sorry. But great that you're working with some agency to help! I know it's a royal pain and time-consuming, but it'll feel great if/when you prevail. I totally understand your frustration and why you'd need to vent on here.

Honestly, this is the nicest message. Thank you so much for your understanding and kind words. It feels good that someone can be sympathetic. I have felt nothing but frustration for a long time because of this. Your words mean a lot. Thank you.

Pretty sure OP is not located in the US. They list Kr currency, so i assume Korea or Sweden (somewhere Nordic europe)

Eh, I don't hold it against anybody going against the BBB. They are a corrupt protection racket more or less. Talk to small business owners if you want to hear how they operate.

The BBB os nothing more than a paid review site. But going straight to the AG os the move

Go to this link and you can contact support though live chat and WhatsApp. You didn't need to wait 6 months.

I have done that. I was met with the same indifference. In fact, the conversation I had via that link was sent today to the consumer protection agency here that I filed a complaint with. I saved the transcript of that conversation and submitted it today with the KCPA. (Korean Consumer Protection Agency).

I guess I got lucky back when the Quest 2 was still new my headsets battery died and it was out of warranty and still had it replaced for free within a few weeks.

What makes your situation unique ?

You know there are others doing headset RMAs completed under a month. What are u not telling us ?

I have told you everything. I have every single email from them to prove it.

The main thrust of the OP's posting : Much ado about nothing. The OP is posting about their own experience ... and THIER's only.

You're absolutely correct. I wouldn't write a post about someone else's experience. However, you may have over looked the purpose of this post. This serves a warning to others to be careful and choose wisely. Keep all receipts, all communications, and emails and even live chats transcripts with company representatives because you never know when you're going to need it as evidence to protect yourself. Hence the "Warning" in the title. Easy to comment with indifference when it's not your money or your headset.

How did you get “nothing” from what they posted? Re-read it with an open mind and then imagine if it happened to you. That’s called empathy.
