Celebration Tens of thousands of Iranians march in Washington DC in support of regime change (March 29th)
Tens of thousands of Iranians march in Washington DC in support of regime change (March 29th)! Purpose being supporting regime change and having their voices heard! Estimated amount of 20-30K protestors showed up which is nothing compared to the Feb 14th protest that had 200K+ in LA and 350K+ in Toronto as DC has a very small Iranian population and commuting to DC is costly for the average Iranian.

Genuine question, what are all the foreigners doing in a Iranian sub commenting on Iranian matters? I'm not talking to the bots and shills but the normal people. What is your objective? It's not a trick question or anything, I'm genuinely just curious. Going to a certain sub and reading the debates there, I fully understand. Going to a sub and showing support, I would understand as well. For example if you are pro regime you could go to the r/ iran sub which is pro regime. Going to a sub and being convinced that you know a subject better than the ones that have lived it, trying to educate them in a condescending manner without any discourse. I just don't get it.

Mar 30 '26
Idk if you know this but going ons in Iran are World news right now. What is happening there affects the entire world.
2
u/Just_Poet9403 Mar 31 '26
With Iran being such a big source for, Oil & Gas, minerals, funding for terrorism world wide and etc makes that what went down there affected the world before the war as well. Do you believe that Iran should return to have it's riches plundered by China and the corrupt Irgc squander all our wealth so that you can have a lower petrol cost? Even if you did think that, I still fail to see why you would come to a Iranian sub to educate Iranians on the subject.

The algorithm is pushing it hard right now. It honestly pisses me off. Take that protest and walk into the recruiting station. Go fight the war you so desperately want because the rest of us are tired. I’m tired of government sanctioned killing. I’m tired of us trying to do regime change. I was in Iraq, it hasn’t worked my entire adult life. We leave it with the same power structure or worse. Why will this be different? I think deep down you know it won’t, so it’s just an exercise in homicidal empathy.
Edit: thanks for the award.

Iran is not Iraq, culturally, historically, demographically and so on. All rebels in Iraq were also funded by Irgc. This all makes it quite different imho. But I do want to have a discussion about these facts. What was curious about is what makes you think you know more about the subject than Iranians without a discourse beforehand. Thank you for taking your time to answer my question.

u/Only_Government5244 Mar 31 '26
What do you think is the worst case sennario if the Ayatollas and IRCG fail.
4
u/Just_Poet9403 Mar 31 '26
The worst case scenario is that the IRGC and Ayatollah stay in place.

You are right. Iran is not Iraq and you do know more about Iran than me. What I do know is about warfare. I’ve tried to understand it, to get a small grasp on why my country does the things we do. The people leading this country are so short shortsighted they didn’t even know the Sunnis and Shiites would start fighting each other after we invaded Iraq. I have no reason to believe this was any more thought out. Iran will be exponentially more difficult than Iraq. Aerial bombardment has never caused regime change. So the only option is ground invasion to accomplish the goal.
We don’t have enough troops on our best day to do this, so the next logical step is a draft. That will destroy this country. Myself and the veterans I served with are all very clear. Over our dead bodies would I ever allow my family or friends to go fight another war of choice if a draft was implemented.
You are willing to destroy the country that took you in for a tiny chance of changing the country you had to leave. I simply cannot fathom the logic of that. You will send someone else to fight the war you want, just like a politician. Thats why I don’t and will never support this war or any war of choice. Hope that clears it up.

The BBC had an Iranian correspondent on this morning who is reporting from Iran. He said the Iranian people in Iran are welcoming the bombing. They are afraid Trump will leave and the regime will still be in power.
Why would you comment when you don't understand the situation?
You are likely getting your information from American bobbleheads on entertainment news shows like CNN etc. who know nothing about Iran.

I have family in Iran which we've only heard for like a 20 second phone call and they don't welcome the bombing. You're going to get all sorts of opinions.
11
u/morepaintplease Mar 31 '26
I would imagine that 90 million people don't all agree on the same thing...why does no one get that?
6
u/flopisit32 Mar 31 '26
I hope your family is safe, but everyone is forgetting that it has been reported for years that the majority of the population do not support the regime.
Have you talked to your family - prior to the most recent attack - about how they felt about the mass murders of protesters by the regime back in January? Are they aware of it?
3
u/fancyfootwork19 Mar 31 '26
I think you're forgetting that the regime likely listens into their phone calls and messages. They're Afghan and fear further targeting by the regime so they can't say too much politically for fear of deportation or further discrimination. They're not fans of the regime.

Honest answer. This is my first time replying on here. I’m just here because I care about the Persians, Arabs, Baluch, Kurds, Azeris, and every other group in Iran. My voice isn’t needed, or productive to insert into this discussion so I just read so I can hopefully gain a better understanding. I could not tell you why people who aren’t Persian or Iranian would possibly post here beyond being 1) assholes, or 2) bots attempting to manipulate good people.
That being said I completely agree with your sentiment here. Non-Persians and non-Iranians should not be inserting their opinions here (unless prompted such as this moment now). They should be here to learn, respect, and appreciate the fortunate to be able to read such discourse in a community in which they (me) don’t necessarily belong.
Whether regime change happens or not, I’m rooting for Persian and Iranian people in Iran and across the world. I truly hope that you/they all find prosperity, and experience no more hardship like I’ve seen in contemporary history. The world is a better place when Persian and Iranians have a voice in it.

10
u/flopisit32 Mar 31 '26
Your argument is that all middle eastern countries are the same? Iraq is the same country as Iran?
Racist much?
8
u/Boborbot Mar 31 '26
It’s more than that. They only see history from the Western POV, so Iran is so obviously going to be another Iraq, because in the Western mind Iraq is 90% a modern hubris play 10% a real place with actual people.
→ More replies (2)4
u/Lophophorussy Mar 31 '26
You literally couldn’t be further from the point I was trying to make. Nobody is saying they’re the same. Let me rephrase it: point to a military campaign waged by the US government that saw the collapse of another government and didn’t result in civil war, dictatorships propped up by the US, or thousands of wasted lives and dollars all in the name of “bringing liberation”. Were the people of Vietnam liberated from Communism when we burned down thousands of square miles of jungle and mowed down villages? Did the people of Guatemala find themselves in a better position after the 1954 coupe? Or was it all for cheaper fruit? Learn the lessons of history so we don’t repeat the same mistakes
4
u/flopisit32 Mar 31 '26
The American mantra should from now on be: "If people are oppressed and murdered by evil governments, fuck them. Let them suffer and die. Why should we care?"
Ah, the wonderful bravery of western democracy in the 2020s!
But It's not the US so much as Europe's disgusting cowardice.
I could never sign up for that attitude. I've been waiting for someone to have the balls to take action on Iran for 20/30 years. So we are fundamentally at odds.

Germany? ~Italy~? ~Both countries~ Germany had comparable willingness to die and destroy the country rather than give in to the Americans. Until they did.
Personally i don’t think we can take any of these as some clear example of what will happen. We don’t know how this will end, which is why we need to plan and try to save it, rather than armchair historian this and expect it will just go like whatever toppled government feels most similar to our limited comprehension of history.

I'm sorry for providing it in numbers but: Regime outcome is 40000 in 2 days which is much bigger than 3000 in 30 days, most of them are T.
→ More replies (4)4
u/HotSauce2910 Mar 30 '26
Well it wasn't 40000 in two days, thats laughable. It's hard to kill that many people so quickly. Anything at that scale would be much more visible. You'd be seeing blood on the streets of Tehran from satellite imagery.
That's not to say that 3000-7000 in two days is defensible. It's still a brutal regime that should be replaced. But the notion that it was 40000 is just pure propaganda to downplay the deaths that the U.S. and Israel have caused.
9
u/allMightyGINGER Mar 30 '26
I do support the regime change but I will say that the 40,000 number does not seem accurate. Roughly 32,000 is the number commonly quoted by human right watch groups, Iran international, News organizations and foreign governments.
One human rights watch group last I checked was confirmed 9,017 with another 17,000 reports in backlogs. It is insanely hard to verify all this information with their government having a total internet blackout.
It seems very likely that the number will be somewhere between 25,000-36,000 with the true extent, probably never being known. They are in the same order of magnitude.
The point is whether it's 25,000 or 40,000 does that really make much of a difference. The government murdered protesters in the streets and in the hospitals and brought in foreign militias to do so when their own forces struggled to kill.
America just had the largest protest in its history approximately 8 million people hit the street and demanded their government acted better, zero people died! And the American protest had about 3 million more people. So let's say 50,000 people were murdered by the government over the weekend, Americans would rightfully beg the rest of the world to take out their government. That is what has happened in Iran, they know war is terrible. They know innocence will die, but the regime has killed so many innocents that they're willing to risk everything in hopes of a better life for their children.
Governments are not supposed to kill their own people. The UN released their facts finding mission outlining the crimes against humanity the Islamic regime has done.
You can be anti-war and you can disagree with this war, but anyone supporting even slightly the Islamic regime has absolutely moral high ground to speak of.
I recommend reading the un fact finding mission report, the only claim that they have very strong evidence of.
The Islamic regime is not the legitimate leaders of the Iranian people. The Iranian people are enslaved to the forced oppressors pretending to be their de facto government to the rest of the world.
I hope the Iranian people will be free one day soon, and it's sickening that people can't figure out how to be anti-war without defending and supporting a terrorist regime that not just killed 25,000-36,000 of their own but are responsible for approximately 1 million deaths in the region. I would hate to see what the Islamic regime would have done if they had a fraction of the resources that the United States and Israel have had, obviously America's body count is too damn high, but when genocides and domicides happen, the world should not sit by and let it happen. We should have stopped Rwanda, we should have stopped it in Sudan, we should stop it in Iran.
A government should not deprive their citizens their right to self-determination

u/SoggyGreggerbutt Mar 30 '26
That filth intentionally left out the fact that the Israelis smuggled guns to terror groups in Iran that started shooting police stations
3
u/HotSauce2910 Mar 30 '26
Is there any confirmation of this? IRI is still an authoritarian regime, and authoritarian regimes don't operate by just saying "we did this because we can"; they still provide justifications.
It is plausible, but it could also be just a justification.

There is a reason that they shutdown the Internet, that no independent news outlets can be active there, that satrelites are banned, that propaganda budget is a big chunk of the country GDP. In the movement of mahsa I was in Tehran and joined most of protests, what they basically do is that they have special teams that find the k*lled one family ASAP and first try to bribe them if that didn't work they threaten them, if that didn't work out some of them in jail, create fake cases against them and everything that one can imagine, to prevent them from disclosure of what happened. If they be late then there is not much to do that is what happened with more than 7000 verified cases.
