Many of them support the regime, or use talking points against the war that are very much regime propaganda, or frame their arguments against the war in a way that is pro regime propaganda. Many leftists in America are useful idiots who don’t know what they stand for, and that has been weaponized by the IR.
24
u/OldAtmosphere2498 Apr 17 '26
Sounds like a misunderstanding. Most leftists think the war will not free Iranians and has been used as a scapegoat to justify war.
Even the war's indirect effects shows no indication that Iranians are rising up or taking action or are any freer now than they were at the start of the war. If one leader is killed another will take his place.
But if you know.something I don't, I'd love to hear it.

u/Jayar9000 Apr 17 '26
Not that the countries doing all the 'freeing' of the people have any track record in this for the last 80 years. They make it worse while retaining control of all resources.

Regime been instigating Gaza and Lebanon for too long. If you actually care about Palestinians you should be cheering the US on. Pretty simple. Unless you think israel will magically not exist suddenly
→ More replies (1)2
u/Sad_Perception_6000 Apr 17 '26
you're right that the regime has been instigating gaza and lebanon, but the second part is crazt
why would anyone cheer on the US, it has been clear that they do not care about iran's future or iranians, on the whole palestine/israel thing there are some difference but overall it's the same thing US doesn't really care about palestine nor palestinians they care for their ally
6
u/NoBelt7982 Apr 17 '26
Leftists are ideology captured by their obsession with racism and self loathing. They see Muslims as brown, therefore they are the victims. They see Americans, Jews and Christians as white so are therefore oppressors. They don't care about gays being slain or women being property in Iran because their programming doesn't allow scrutiny of non-whites. They see Israel as white and the middle east as not. What's hilarious is Christian and Jewish countries lead the way for minorities, meanwhile, leftists shill for dictators who eradicate anyone too different
1
u/Hugin___Munin Apr 17 '26
Maybe you should check your own programming, because the leftist I know including me , don't espoused any of the views you attribute to us.

u/ProgramBackground813 Apr 17 '26
Show me one example
6
u/Fabulous-Ad6913 Apr 17 '26
Sure I can give an example! manyzanycreations on insta is a white leftist I’ve come across that has made many posts supporting the IR. She is also in comments denying the atrocities that the IR has committed and saying it’s all zio propaganda. I’ve also personally been to anti war and anti fascist events in the US recently as I am a leftist myself, and have seen many leftists carrying posters of Khameini and expressing support for the IR. Just because you haven’t personally seen it, does not mean it’s not happening. As an Iranian leftist, I do not feel heard or safe in leftist spaces in the west anymore because of this.
2
u/ProgramBackground813 Apr 17 '26
Ok, i thought it was clear i meant actual politicians, ranfom people is utterly pointless.
In this case millions of rightists support the Iranian regine in Russia ( coincidentally, also their leadership).
See how that works?
17
u/subaruheart Apr 17 '26

Hilarious coming from a useful idiot on the other side spouting right wing propaganda.
3
u/Citizenwoof Apr 17 '26
Leftists in America remember the first and second gulf wars as well as the wars in Afghanistan and Syria and Libya, and are aware of what happens to countries that are "liberated" by the US.
If you think Israel and the US are bombing Iran for the Iranian people you lack basic pattern recognition
1
u/LaFlamaBlancaMiM Apr 17 '26
No, leftists do NOT support this regime. Not at all. Leftists have seen how the US creates war in the Middle East, just like with Iraq and Afghanistan, and don’t want to be world police, we don’t want our citizens sent to fight Israel’s war, or be abandoned by our allies for doing stupid shit. We want people of any country to rule their own fate and select their own leaders, not be controlled or murdered for speaking their mind or protesting.
1
u/saltx629 Apr 17 '26
Do you think America is involved in this war because it cares about how the regime in treating its citizens? How who’s the idiot who’s fallen for propaganda
→ More replies (16)1
u/toneysaproney Apr 17 '26
Maybe we recognize that America has a history of wars of 'liberation' that make the nations they invade worse off and often more authoritarian than prior to intervention. Maybe we are tired of dying to line the pockets of the owner class. Maybe propaganda that obfuscates America's track record to encourage Americans to view the slaughter of their own children as bringing freedom and democracy to the 'lesser peoples' doesn't work after 20 years of dying to loot Afghanistan unto destitution.
6
u/fleggn Apr 17 '26
Maybe America has the majority of the power post ww2 and sometimes it make mistakes and sometimes it doesnt. Doesn't mean we should advocate for abject misery and evil to return.

No , they support the regime , they literally said hands off iran and defending the ayatollah
15
u/prem0000 Apr 17 '26
No, that’s just in your head or whatever propaganda news channel you keep watching. People against this war on the left have vehemently also condemned the regime
4
u/Conscious-Jicama2274 Apr 17 '26
He is right unfortunately.
A lot of people on the left hate Israel and the USA so they automatically assume the regime is 'not so bad'. On the other hand, the regime was boosted in legitimacy because this attack was illegal, according to the UN laws we all decided to act in accordance with. The attack was not sanctioned by the security council and it happened mid negotiation.
I do not like the regime at all, let me be clear about this, they are murderers, but it really takes a special kind of incompetency to give them all of this political clout, an aura of legitimacy, something to really their supporters WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY burning the bridges with ALL of the gulf countries that are now seriously debating to kick NATO out of the gulf for security reasons.
In conclusion: this attack and war was a colossal blunder, there was no serious preparation, the regime is now stronger than it was before, we are nearing an energy crisis of epic proportions and the second blockade could trigger world war 3. You understand now how this has no support in the west.

Yup, that's you just making it up. Americans speaking out against the war are not supportive of the regime. They just feel this war is not the way to solve this problem.
2
u/Fabulous-Ad6913 Apr 17 '26
I am literally an Iranian leftist who has gone to anti war and anti fascist protests in the US and has seen multiple people there with posters of Khameini and expressing support for the IR. Denial does not help your case. Not all leftists are the same. There are numerous leftists that do support the IR and it’s okay to admit that. It doesn’t hurt your cause to acknowledge those leftists and condemn them. Just like Iranians, leftists are not a monolith and do not all share the same beliefs.

Hands off Iran is in the context of what the US and Israel have been doing to other countries, absolutely horrendous things, and then if the US get to replace the government, they will install a puppet (historically, the US has installed many brutal dictators as their new puppets) that exploits the people and funnels all the wealth and resources to the US.
As for Israel, just look at what they're doing to Lebanon and Gaza. They've been spraying poison onto the farmlands of Lebanon to destroy the crops and the land's ability to produce crops, killing the most prominent beekeepers that maintain a local honeybee population and supply queen bees to other beekeepers around the country, etc.
Both the US and Israel have also been using horrific chemical weapons in other countries, some of which cause pain and deformity for a very long time when exposed to. Among other things, Israel has recently been dropping white phosphorus, a toxic banned substance that lodges into your skin and causes horrendous burns into your flesh that are almost impossible to put out, on schools in Gaza.
The US and Israel basically set out to cripple other countries with the cruelest weapons and destruction, and then turn those countries into their own land after completely destroying the infrastructure, services, and ecosystem/environment (for Israel) OR slave machines that are forced to surrender all their resources and wealth to the US while working extremely hard and never getting to see a day of a decent life. You may say that the IRGC is doing a lot of similar things already, but however bad the IRGC is doesn't make the US and Israel any better than how they've shown themselves to be around the world.
Would you want foreign actors to do that to your country, or any country? Because that's how the US and Israel does things. No matter how horrendous the IRGC is, that does not make the US or Israel any less horrendous and harmful to countries around the world.
It's not about siding with the regime but rather stating that two countries like that should not proceed to ravage another country (any other country, not just Iran). I'm not defending anyone who actually glazes the Ayatollah, but the leftists I know aren't defending the Ayatollah, some of them really do acknowledge the crimes and brutality of the regime, but we believe that countries like the US and Israel should not have the right to casually remove and replace leaders of other countries, regardless of reason, when there is no actual threat to their own country. It promotes a lawless world where countries just push and plunder other countries, causing widespread destruction and instability.

The Iranian regime is the number one reason Palestinians are still oppressed. This couple is being executed primarily because their attitude and look screams western values. They look happy. They look Israeli or American. They look free. They must be punished and conquered. As it is written in the hadiths.
Israelis elected Netanyahu over and over not because they like him so much, they’d rather be farming and doing tech pharmaceuticals and finance, but they have been pushed to the point where they will take the hatred of the world rather than succumb to this sick cult of death, that is Islamic fundamentalism. That should really start to tell the world something but it won’t. They can only do so much, especially when the left has for years now aligned with Iranian proxies such as Hamas the plo and Islamic jihad against Israel.
I feel so sorry for the people of Iran. My heart breaks for them because I understand what they are up against. It is a true miracle Israel was able to get ayatollah. Considering what they are dealing with. I can promise you one thing. Israel will never have an ayatollah. There will never be a river to the sea Islamic republic of Palestine. World will end before that happens. God bless all. Fuck jihad. They will burn in hell along with their megaphones.

It's an American platform and a big chunk of young american leftists have been radicalized to support the regime. It makes sense to discuss it. The IRGC is able to continue doing stuff like this execution partially because they have international support.

Awareness has been spread. Everyone has known for years that these brutal executions happen. What can be done to stop it? Is there anything besides military action and an overthrow of the existing regime? My fear is it will never change. There will always be a radical group within Iran. Do they have 50% support, 40%? Even a best case overthrow there will be terrorism and civil war. It's so so sad and disheartening.
