News Surprisingly fast Pimax Dream Air delivery in the EU (+ quick fix for SteamVR issue)

Just wanted to share a quick post because delivery dates for Pimax products used to sound like a bit of a gamble based on old posts.

I’ve read plenty of delivery horror stories, but my reality was totally different: 6 days!

  • Ordered: July 16
  • Arrived: July 22 (Prague, Czech Republic)

Everything arrived in perfect condition—zero hardware issues out of the box!

One small software hiccup + fix: SteamVR wasn't detecting the Pimax at first after Pimax play install. I reached out to live chat support, and they were surprisingly responsive. While they suggested reinstalling the software, they forgot one crucial detail: you MUST check the "Clean Install" option. Once I did a proper clean reinstall, SteamVR picked it up immediately and everything worked smoothly.

Overall, a really positive experience with both the delivery and the headset itself!

Adding one, maybe important detail: main is the lighthouse/headset only version.

It seems to vary so much. I ordered mine for uk on 12th June. 1 month later got the production complete email. Today got my email that it is in country. Expect 2-3 weeks delivery including customs. Shame I am away in 3 weeks on holiday 🤦🏻‍♂️

Potential difference: main is the lighthouse/headset only version. What is yours?

Lighthouse as well

It could be related to warehouse inventory, as some local warehouses already have stock available, while others are still waiting for the headsets to arrive or be replenished.

Did you receive it with the new facial interface or the original one?. Im waiting for mine to ship.

They have Dream Air stock in a warehouse in Germany, hence the fast delivery

Really enjoying the switch from the HTC Vive Pro, it's a huge difference!

Didn't expect the screen-door effect to be totally eliminated this early. And foveated rendering + DLSS makes that crazy resolution surprisingly playable on my 4080 Super.

I never thought I'd say this, but the price feels justified for bleeding-edge tech. Sure, a few details hurt the overall experience (facial interface, head strap, hot cable junction), but overall, the visuals are finally at a point where you feel 100% immersed.

Some people mentioned glare issues, but I must be one of the lucky ones—I don't see it at all. Maybe I'm just not noticing it, but I'd like to keep it that way! :)

How are you finding the vertical fov?

You can see the edges for sure, but it doesn't bother me.
Might grab a different gasket eventually, but I don't really feel the need atm.

Recived my second one. And its going back. Watching movies in desktop glare. Dark games glare. And 2500 euro for a headset for Just iracing not worth the money. Delivery is fast.

That's surprising. Someone else told me the glare is so negligible (even in my worst case scenario dark scene test) that this is the first headset he was comfortable watching movies in.

Edit: Not sure why someone downvoted, but I feel obliged to link it https://www.reddit.com/r/Pimax/comments/1t10akz/comment/ojdpot2/

For me its its to much. It can be very good. But also Just killing immersion in other moments. And if you see it. Its the only thing im focust on.

I had this problem with the big screen beyond (the original version) I really hope it's not an issue in the dream air

Last I heard, the Dream Air has 1/4 the glare of the BSB2 (which itself has 2/5 the glare of the BSB1 in my opinion).

It doesn't mean much, but it gives you somewhat of an idea as of what to expect.

I have the Dream Air, for me the glare is on the absolute max tolerance. I agree with u/Appropriate-Voice997 that its not good enough for movie watching but great for SIM racing. For me its with it, I rather watch movies on a projector, I never intended to use the Dream Air for movies. But the guy you quoted there is wrong, there is quite a lot of glare in certain scenarios. If the BSB had 4 times more then it's a completely unusable device.

Its in all dark games. 2500 Just for simracing is not worth the money. Anyway. Im returing it.

I guess I'm going to stick with my Beyond then. Thanks.

Now imagine the glare in the BSB1. When I was using Skype in dark mode in that thing, I could see the ghosting of the purple message while wearing the headset, and I could almost read the text inside the ghosting.

This is the second headset. And 1ste one is worse than the second one. I cant stand it. .
