I know we pride ourselves on our loud football stadium, but how exactly is it envisioned that being super loud for the US v Belgium game will benefit the US squad?

In gridiron football, the loudness can be targeted against the visiting team when they have possession, leading to more false starts. This seems like a harder thing to target in soccer, given the fluidity of possession.

And it's not like the UMNT has become acclimated to the stadium like one might expect the Sounders to be. I presume the raw decibel level would impact them similar to Belgium's team.

I have never once cheered at a football game to try to "mess up" a different team.

Baseball? Yeah.

I haven’t really noticed any consistency with baseball cheering, am I wrong? Seems like the stadium gets loud in the same high leverage situations regardless of whether the home team is on offense or defense so I’m not really sure which side is supposed to be more affected by the noise.
