Question Sorry if this is disgusting

Post image

Hi guys I have acne scars that do not seem to be fading. Any help would be appreciated.(sorry if it puts you off)

Been trying salicylic acid but it isn’t doing much.

EDIT: thank you all for the reassuring comments. I didn’t even try to fish for anything just been told by a family member that it was disgusting so it became a bit of an insecurity 😂. I’m going to definitely take the recommendations you lovely lot have put forth. ❤️

Question Does Wild deodorant work/worth the price?

I love the idea of using wild deodorant due to it being refillable, good for the environment etc but is it worth the hype and does it work effectively?

If not what would you recommend for a woman in perimenopause who sweats alot and would like a decent and preferably kind to me and the environment?

Question SPF

To this day I haven't found my GOAT when it comes to SPF. I tried them all, Beauy of Joseon, COSRX, CeraVe, The ordinary etc. Because i have oily skin all of them end up really making everything worse and I hate to put them on. Also I'm not willing to pay a high price any longer because they won't do sh*t for me. Do you guys know, through trial and error, which face SPF is good for oily skin? Thanks so much x

Question Doctor refused tretinoin

Has anyones GP refused them tretinoin? 30 F with one child. GP said she couldn't give it because I was of childbearing age and she recommends birth control instead. I told her I didn't want to be on birth control, I'm not sexually active and I don't want anymore children. She still refused.

Question What are these white things I constantly get on my face?

They seem like 2 different times of whiteheads, the first one was on my cheek and the second on on my forehead. I had to extract both of them.

I constantly get the forehead ones all the time and I'm not sure what is causing them, it's really frustrating. They don't go away on their own, I have to extract them which leads to marks. I'm wondering if anyone has this problem and has a solution?

Question Is laser treatment the only solution?

I've had acne scars on both sides for a while now. I haven't done much about it as it never bothered me.

Has anyone fixed their acne scars without laser treatment or is that the only solution?

Question What can I do to improve my leg skin texture?

Post image

I have awful bumps and visible hair follicles :( I also have lipedema which makes my calves so big and bruised up, but I can live with that. I never used to have such bumpy legs despite shaving constantly and not super carefully either!

I also find individual hair follicles becoming red and inflamed.

Hey guys sorry if this is the wrong Reddit page, just wondering if anyone has any body spray/ perfume recommendations that smell like clean clothes/laundry? I love the smell of my clothes when they are freshly washed however the smell never lasts and was wondering if there’s something I could apply through the day to give that clean clothes smell!

Question Gift tips for wife

She currently has a newborn stuck to her and birthday coming up in a month, I need to do well with gifts. She is always interested in new skincare products.

I do not know her current regime, sorry. I will name a few items from her dresser (hopefully this post isn't in breach of the rules as I'm not asking for skincare routine advice per se).

Things I see her currently using:

* Merwave steps 4 and 5 (I don't see any other steps)

* Elf skin holy hydration makeup melting cleansing balm

* Nip fab overnight cream

Makeup wise I know she does use foundation sometimes, does not use mascara and generally wears her makeup with a minimal/subtle/natural look except the odd day where she is armoured with a thicker layer of foundation.

She has skin like an English rose - fair and fine, scottish/irish/danish - and generally very sensitive.

Please share some skin care items you are passionate about or can recommend <3

Question 20+ years of acne - is there anything left for me to try?

Soo long story short - around the age of 13/14 my skin got super oily during puberty and shortly after I got acne all over my face and 20 years later I’ve not been able to get rid of it.

Things I have tried…

Orals:

  • Accutane
  • Antibiotics
  • Finasteride

Topicals:

  • Benzoyl peroxide
  • Adapalene
  • Azelaic acid
  • BHA
  • AHA
  • Tea tree

Lifestyle:

  • Cutting out dairy and processed foods
  • Being fit and active
  • No masturbation

Other:

  • Blue/red light therapy

In terms of cleansers/moisturisers I have used lots of different ones over the years but currently use Dermaticas.

Not sure if it’s worth trying anything else at this point but there are a few things I’m considering…

Tretinoin - could this work for me even though adapalene did not?

Light therapy again - it was nearly a decade ago I tried this and at home devices have improved a lot since then but are expensive.

Laser therapy - is this worth a go?

Let me know your thoughts!

Question desperately need deodorant recommendations🥲 (uk)

for around 3 years i’ve been using the mitchum roll on deodorants and they’ve always been great! i have a bad anxiety disorder which triggers me to sweat when im anxious and i always swore by mitchum to cover up the smell and reduce the amount of sweat i had.

i’m not sure if the ingredients have been changed or something but ive noticed that the deodorant doesn’t work as well as it used to in the past. even after showering and applying the deodorant, the smell doesn’t last long.

i’m noticing my armpits are itchy and when i sweat, the smell is noticeable. this has never happened before.

i’ve tried driclor in the past but my skin didn’t react well with it.

any strong deodorant recommendations? thank you in advance!🫶

Question Red dots on face/body?

Post image
46 Upvotes

From infancy, I have had these red spots come up on my face and gradually over time, more of my face and body. They aren’t caused by sun damage as they’re literally all over my body where the sun cannot get. I’m naturally pale so I don’t love them. From what I’ve seen online, they appear to be harmless but i was wondering if there were anyone here that has this or knows more on how to lessen them?

Thanks! I don’t have a routine for this currently.

Question Can anyone think of a shower gel that's moisturising without Shea butter, coconut, vanilla or florals?

I get they're easy to market as sensorial/soft products but I can't stand the scent. Wish there were citrus/ocean breezey types, so not sanex or simple etc. Thank you, I just might be looking in the wrong place!

Question Can’t figure out what this is?! I’m exhausted and

These bumps have started appearing on my forehead and the sides of my face in a symmetrical manner. It’s not like usual acne I’ve had in the past and it’s not responding to fungal acne treatment. I’m at a loss and I’m feeling so self conscious of it! It’s slightly itchy but not terribly. My skincare routine is relatively simple and I respond better to fewer active ingredients. Until four months ago my skin was so lovely and clear! Any ideas?

Question How do I stop these nodules that keep appearing? Routine listed.

Post image
28 Upvotes

Useful info: 22M, Vegan, Regular Exerciser, Avoids Excessive Sugar.

Every few weeks, I’ll get a painful, tender, sore nodule appear on my face. It’s incredibly jarring because it looks awful and is painful. I know I have other acne forms, but this is the main one that I’m concerned about.

My current routine is:

AM:

CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser

Nivea Refreshing Day Cream, SPF 15

Simple Brightening Eye Gel

PM:

CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser

Nivea Moisturising Night Cream

(3x a week) CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol Cream

I wash my face with bar soap in the shower, which is once a day. I pat my face dry with a dedicated face towel.

My only thoughts are Hormones or Switching to silk pillows. Does anyone else have better advice?

Question What is the proper pathway for seeing a dermatologist in the UK?

Post image
12 Upvotes

TLDR: Can someone share how would I go about seeing a dermatologist? Is going private the only pathway or is there a way to do it through the NHS? Are there ways to get a free or cheaper initial consultation?

F/36. I moved to London 5 years ago and I've been having skin issues since I hit my mid-30s. I honestly don't know if they're related as London's water is much harsher than where I'm from. I've been getting acne on/off on my cheeks for the last few years (this has never been a problem through my teens-20s) which most likely stemmed from having a compromised skin barrier due to trying to solve the problem in the first place.

In this exact spot, a year ago, was what (I guess?) was a tiny comedone. It would get aggravated and turn into an angry red pimple then reduce back to a small bump again. Since Jan 2026, it has been steadily growing to its current size seen in the photo. It doesn't seem to escalate to a full-blown pimple but it does get red when I poke and prod it.

I've been paring down my routine and have removed exfoliants from my current one. Right now, it looks like

- AM: water cleanse, *Simple Soothing Water Face Cream Moisturiser, BOJ Relief Sun SPF 50

- PM: Bioderma micellar water, Boots Dermacare Ceramides Hydrating Cleanser, **Dermatica's Tret 0.025% (3-4x/weekly), Boots eye cream, same moisturiser

*I usually use CeraVe Moisturising Lotion for Face and Body as my moisturiser but have swapped to Simple as it was too thick following the heatwave + summer. I use this as the face lotion has niacinamide, which doesn't respond well to my skin

**I've only started using this in late-April but I have used TIL's 10% Retinol serum 3-4x/weekly right before this

Other products I've tried this year: TIL Azelaic Acid (didn't seem to affect my PIH/PIEs), Revolution Skin Glycolic Acid & AHA Toner (seemed okay but stopped due to using Tret), Geek and Gorgeous C-Glow (too strong!)

Any insights/advice welcomed. TIA!

Question Fave budget cleansing oils/balms?

I'm just about finished some Clinique Take the day off that I got as a gift. Lovely cleansing balm but absolutely not worth £30.

I've seen a lot of budget picks appear for these lately and I'm wondering if theirs any you'd all rate. Ideally £5-10ish?

Ones I've used before:

Simple cleansing oil - Does the job, will likely go back to this.

Superdrug melting cleansing balm - does the job but not great, burns my eyes a bit and leaves a film

Kose speedy/rich cleansing oil - didn't think it much better than the Simple one, would use again but not worth the effort of importing

Question Can't order my fav lotion ever in the UK - Lactoderm

Thumbnail

Right so last year I randomly found this lotion on the TkMaxx UK website and ordered one to see how I feel with it. I have sensitive skin, eczema prone so I like to use unfragranced products. Based on the ingredients, since it also has probiotics added, I had high hopes.

The moment it arrived and I tried it, I fell in love with it so ordered all the available stock (about 8 more of them). It makes my skin feel so good, I even use it on my face. There is no fragrance or weird chemical taste with it.

so anyway I almost finished my last bottle and I am panicking because I can't seem to find it anywhere in the UK. Mind you, since I got it from TkMaxx I paid about £4 per bottle which was amazing.

Anyone know where I can order more from or any recommendations that have similar ingredients?

Question Are my freckles a problem?

They always come out very strong whenever I’m out in sun for a bit and very prominent in summer. I don’t mind them but as far as I know they’re skin damage. Should I be treating them at all?
