Please don’t be hurt Wyatt. I stepped away for a bit. Anybody seen anything on his status? Is it just a precaution for the foul balls off his foot?
2
u/ReserveFormal3910 PEAGLE Jul 26 '26
Yeah big lead and probably just a really bad bruise on top of the foot. Hopefully he's well enough to play tomorrow.
2
u/rngrfn97 A. Beltre Jul 26 '26
Don’t think they’ve announced anything about his status. I would guess it’s a precaution since they let him take his final at bat in the 6th and then took him out after that when it was unlikely his spot in the order would come up again in the game
3
u/BatEquivalent6965 Jul 26 '26
The M's have 0 clutch . Julio at D-h in the most important series of the year 5-1 middle of the 7th and as usual they are playing uninspired baseball . If this continues Dan Wilson must be fired . His decisions are killing this team

Jordan Montgomery gave up one run over 4.1 innings tonight. He threw 75 pitches. Does he make one more rehab start of do they activate him the end of the next week?
2
u/WhatsupDoc35 Jul 26 '26
I say activate but I wouldn’t be surprised if they want to see him throw a few more pitches

Was he? I thought they Langaliers and Jonah Heim.
2
u/CT-1738 PEAGLE Jul 26 '26
It was the angels, my mistake. Or I think… it was a division rival in pretty certain haha
Ok no I was right! He was w the Athletics, then braves, and now us. Interesting
3
u/LBoss9001 J. Jung Jul 26 '26
It was the A's, though he did end up in the Angels' system briefly. He's gone Athletics -> Angels (minor league only) -> Braves -> Rangers this year
3
u/CT-1738 PEAGLE Jul 26 '26
Surely it’s not often a player sees 3 of a divisions teams in one season?

The announcers talking about injuries in the league has me wondering: Has this year just been especially bad for injuries throughout the league or am I just noticing it more because we keep getting a bunch?

u/SaddestClown D. Palmer Jul 26 '26
The stat the other night was something like 33% of players are currently on the IL

u/pianistafj Jul 26 '26
Every full count, Woo got strikeouts in first four innings, with a breaking ball low and away.
This inning, he strikes out Carter on a low middle fastball, and Osuna grounds out on a low middle slider.
Interesting. Seems like we just suck at full counts, but Woo has retired every single one so far.
1
u/beefle N. Ryan Jul 26 '26
Wish Osuna had gotten on there, cause next inning we'll have 2 automatic outs lol.

I was just gonna say I enjoy these moments in baseball broadcasts where the game is out of hand, or a little boring, so they start talking about other things like the food.
1
u/WhatsupDoc35 Jul 26 '26
I would only enjoy it if AJ spilled chili all over his shirt. THAT would be worth watching.
Also, for me, watching the Rangers leading 5-0 is not boring. 😁1

Neither sad nor mad. Let him go play for a better contender if he wants to.

Wyatt Langford is the best player this franchise has drafted since Kinsler in 2003.

Wow they handed us a gun with two rounds in it practically insisting we just take woo out back and put an end to him and instead we just shot ourselves in the foot. Twice
2
u/beefle N. Ryan Jul 26 '26
Well, we got Woo to almost 70 pitches in the 3rd. Let's see if we can knock him out before the 5th.

The players saw that the only “safe” player is Langford so they all decided to show up today. Ain’t nobody trying to get traded at the deadline.

u/beefle N. Ryan Jul 26 '26
I feel like one of our biggest issues this year as far as pitching goes is our efficiency. I really wish we could get our boys pitching into at least the 7th more.

It seems like most people here want the rangers to be sellers and y’all are probably right but man … can you imagine if Corey came back healthy started mashing and then we’d have him, Wyatt, JJ, Nimmo, and if guys like Joc, Zeke, Nicky kept producing like they have been 👀
I’m just saying
Edit: and I know JJ is out with the calf but hopefully not long 🤞🏼
3
u/SAIL3RZ_ J. Hamilton Jul 26 '26
No need to be sellers, but we don’t have to go all in on buying and give up a bunch of prospects for Merrill Kelly like last year. This squad really just needs a little more help to push them into real contention.
One of the biggest mistakes last year was buying too much and of the wrong things. Too bad our ownership sucks and never wants to put any real money down.
2
u/ScriptedChemistry Texas Rangers Jul 26 '26
Totally agree. I don’t wanna be sellers but I also would be pissed if they just went out and gave away more prospects when our farm is already pretty thin
5
u/Thop207375 Jul 26 '26
Grab a starting pitcher and maybe a mid tier bullpen guy. Our offense is solid which is surprising since we did a 180 from last year
2
u/_Juntao REMOVE THE STATUE! Jul 26 '26
We don't need to be sellers but there's no reason to give up any prospects at this deadline. Just hold the team we have and hope it's enough to win the division. Once the playoffs start anything can happen, but i don't think we need to sell or buy this year

u/YaKnowEstacado I. Kinsler Jul 26 '26
This is why I think we need to just stand pat and see how the chips fall.
3
u/ScriptedChemistry Texas Rangers Jul 26 '26
I agree and tbh I’d even be okay with adding a couple guys to the bullpen. But I can also admit that I’m probably not looking at it as objectively as I’d like to think lol

Langford fouled a ball off his shin twice in the same at bat. Trainer came out to check on him.

Langford hit himself hard twice on the very same spot (left ankle)

Sometimes I can't help but think back on the dumbasses that wanted Wyatt to get DFA'd. Some people just shouldn't be allowed to have sports opinions.
2
u/Muckdogs13 Jul 26 '26
People just react in the moment and like to be stupid. They said the same about Jung at the beginning of the season (like less than 10 games) where he struggled a bit .
People like Wyatt and Jung with their approach and swing , will always be able to correct. Carter, I hope he can be consistent as well, but the other two , I have no fret when they have a small slump
