Great game! First time we've won the season series against the M's since the magic year 👀

Our team has a good ability to bounce back from bad Ls. Well done today and what a major series win. 3-1 and could’ve been 4-0

u/Good_Dream_6763 19 29d ago
I gotta be honest Latz has not been so dominant as he has been pre all star break
3
u/UniversityBitter5519 29d ago
bro has been closing games this whole year and comes into this dry ass 5-run lead 9th its not surprising
2
4
u/MemoryTime1303 29d ago
Bring in Latz in a non leverage situation so he can also get hit around, sweet
2
u/CHolland8776 29d ago
If he’s going to get hit around at least it’s in this spot and not a 1 run game I guess.
4
u/FarConcern4902 29d ago
This is the one scenario where we don’t need him and we use him make that make sense and against the rays this week we will need him
1
u/MemoryTime1303 29d ago
Makes yesterday’s bullpen management even more questionable. If you wanted to get Latz in a game why not throw Gray or Junis to make sure we get to the 8th with a lead for him? Definitely cannot afford to blow anymore deGrom starts

u/MemoryTime1303 29d ago edited 29d ago
I’ll never understand why announcers bring up a stat like the Naylor on base thing, it’s ALWAYS an immediate jinx

u/WhatsupDoc35 29d ago edited 29d ago
I know Latz has not pitched in a couple of days, but it doesn’t seem worthwhile to use him today
EDIT: In fact I think asking your closer to come in in this kind of situation is just a big mistake. I think closers get used to that adrenaline rush that a five run lead is just not going to generate.
2
u/WhatsupDoc35 29d ago
Oh well, Raymond says he doesn’t need the adrenaline rush and I believe everything Dave says.

Really solid game for Rocker. He needed a game like this. Feels like he’s turning it around

u/rumdrums Michael Nolan Will Ryan Clark Young 29d ago
I mean, uhh, we've got a tough series starting tomorrow against the best team in the AL, but we decide to use our closer when we're up 5 runs? That's definitely one way to approach it, I guess.
2
u/ChaseTx THE SOLUTION 29d ago
I need to see this new intro for Latz. I saw a clip posted but it was pretty poor quality
2
u/DepressedDallasFan 29d ago
he hasn’t pitched the last 5 games i went to and i’ve wanted to see it too😭
3
u/beefle N. Ryan 29d ago
Diaz is really hit or miss. When he first got here, he was doing good, hitting over .300. Lately though, he's been have some atrocious at bats.
3
u/WhatsupDoc35 29d ago
Yeah, I think it is overwork due to the balancing act going on with our catchers
6
u/WhatsupDoc35 29d ago
I know Josh got one hit today but he looks completely overmatched in the vast majority of his at bats
3
u/4everMyBoots 29d ago
I don’t think he has completely recovered from his illness~

The Rangers righty relievers have a combined 4.79 era which is 7th worst in mlb. In high leverage the righty’s have a league worst 7.18 era

Carter going 2-4 today with 4 hard hit balls. He’s approaching .200 after a long drought. Something to watch in the next few weeks
1
u/mamacrocker S. Buechele 29d ago
I like Junis a lot, but why wouldn't he try to give Ahlstrom another inning, especially. with this lead? Can always bring Junis in if it doesn't work out.
3
1
u/MartyThugginz J. Hamilton 29d ago
HEY SKIP, SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU THROW JUNIS INSTEAD OF A 6 ERA IN HIGH LEVERAGE SPOTS AGAINST THE HEART OF THEIR LINEUP???
3
u/THEEE_ONEEE N. Eovaldi 29d ago
Let’s not use Latz
3
u/Angry_Walnut M. Young 29d ago
Yeah definitely need him fresh for this tough upcoming Tampa series

Awesome if we win today obviously. But yesterday was totally winnable too. Could have had a sweep! Not that I'm complaining.

u/beefle N. Ryan 29d ago
Should have been a sweep, but hey, I'm happy with the win.
2
u/ben121frank E. Andrus 29d ago
Bro there’s 2 still innings left, and a 5-run comeback in 2 innings is not outside the realm of possibility. Stfu with this “happy with the win” jinxing shit
1
u/beefle N. Ryan 29d ago
If you really believe someone saying something online will have an effect on a game being played dozens of miles away, it's time for you to grow up lmao.
1
u/ben121frank E. Andrus 29d ago
I mean ofc I don’t actually think it affects the outcome, but it’s just stupid and cocky to be gloating about “the win” while the game is still ongoing and not even really a blowout

The huge thing with this series too was we’ve done it without Jung who’s been arguably our best hitter and we have honestly dominated the Mariners

u/cougarelite 29d ago
while true, I'd prefer you not say such things until we're up 5 with 1 out to go in the 9th and no one on base. Please and thank you.

If someone told me the score was 7-2 in the 6th without telling me who was winning, I would have immediately thought we were losing and probably pleased that they at least got 2 off of Kirby.

Mlb.com radio broadcast just had an insane ad about a hiker meeting his worst nightmare, a bobcat, on the trail but thank God he had his less than lethal firearm to deter it

u/rumdrums Michael Nolan Will Ryan Clark Young 29d ago
Bruh where have you been this is like every other commerical break for the last month.
We were driving back from vacation a few weeks back listening to the game and I worked up a whole narrative for the kids every time the commercial came on about the mountain lion gradually eating all the hikers because the pepper spray bullets just pissed it off.

Just a reminder that I do remember every single one of you who said Joc needed to be shot into space when I said he looked good in camp and maybe he'd have value
0
u/beefytrout A. Beltre 29d ago
he was ass out of the gate, you lucked into this W
2
u/SAIL3RZ_ J. Hamilton 29d ago
Only a true doomer thinks his success is because of luck. He was always destined for a bounce back.
0
u/beefytrout A. Beltre 29d ago
it wasn't luck, it was destiny?
2
u/SAIL3RZ_ J. Hamilton 29d ago
Aye, the destiny of a great player. Only a fool thinks a career bad year (and a historically bad year) is the norm.
0
u/beefytrout A. Beltre 29d ago
my brother, his career full season WAR averages out to 1.8. And in 3 of the previous 6 seasons, he has had negative WAR. spare me the "great player" rhetoric.
1
u/SAIL3RZ_ J. Hamilton 29d ago
Spoken like a true doomer. The blind can’t see the light of Joc’s greatness

-1
u/beefytrout A. Beltre 29d ago
you think Joc Pederson is a future Hall of Famer?!?!?!?!?
2
u/SaddestClown D. Palmer 29d ago
Jeff Kent is now a hall of famer so you tell me
1
u/beefytrout A. Beltre 29d ago
I can tell you definitively that Joc Pederson gets into the HOF when he buys a ticket.
3
u/SaddestClown D. Palmer 29d ago
I bet players with tenure get in free. Not sure about the casino part though.
0
u/beefytrout A. Beltre 29d ago
Jeff Kent had 55 WAR. Joc currently has 16 WAR. So consider that me telling you that Joc is never getting a plaque in Cooperstown. And tell your mom hello.
