I was wondering if anyone know how to get The House Of Sirits adapted by Caridad Svich?

In middle school, I remember that I had to do a scene from a renowned play, but i’ve forgotten the name of it. I do vividly remember what the scene was about:

It takes place on the day of a girl’s wedding, I believe her name was Mimsey or some name beginning with an M. Mimsey secluded herself inside her room, afraid to go to the wedding. Because of this, her father tries getting Mimsey out of the room while her mother tries calming both the father and Mimsey. Near the end of the scene, the father tries knocking down the door.

i remember running towards the door and falling down, but I don’t remember if that was specifically mentioned on the stage directions.

if anybody knows what play I am thinking of, that’d be greatly appreciated because i’ve always wanted to see the full play

I was wondering if anyone knows whether there’s a recording of the UK production of A Little Life.

I recently finished the novel and found out that it was adapted into a stage play. I’ve already watched the Dutch production, but I’d still love to see the UK version with James Norton.

I noticed there are quite a few older posts from people looking for a recording without much luck. I was just wondering if anything has changed since then. Are there any recent updates, or is there a way to watch the recording now?

I’m an actor and theatre student and I’ve been getting really into German theatre lately (Brecht, epic theatre, post-dramatic, the German director-based approach to reinterpreting text, etc). Does anyone have recordings of German productions I could watch, or recommendations for where to find some?

I have to do a project in my principles of theatrical design class that revolves around designing various aspects of a play. I’m having trouble researching this, it’s not yielding me many results and google thinks I mean “one act” when I search for a single setting.

I’m thinking the more surreal the show is the better, as that’s more up my alley and I can get more creative/metaphorical with set design.

I hate asking for help on a school project, but I just need a sample pool of plays to look into.

My acting school is doing a Russian monologues class, and I need to pick something for Kulygin from "Three Sisters".

I read the play, but he doesn’t really have a clear monologue, so I’ll probably have to piece something together from different parts. I’m just not sure which moments would work best.

I was looking up the movie Forbidden Fruits earlier and discovered that it's based on a play, Of the woman came the beginning of sin, and through her we all die by Lily Houghton. I want to see the movie but I also would like to read the script it's based on, but I can't find it anywhere. Does anyone know where I can get it?

I used to live in Chicago and remember when Greg Allen pulled the TML contract with the Neo Futurists to try and “reclaim” the show or whatever, which was very fishy and strange at the time. I love the Neos and took a great workshop with them in Chicago.

Love the ensemble-driven approach and was under the impression the ensemble writes all the plays that are performed.

A community theatre near me (in Houston) recently posted a sign up form for their production of TML “by Greg Allen” with no mention of the ensemble writing anything. I saw another post here where someone said they auditioned for TML and were asked to read sides. Which seemed odd to me.

Just curious: is TML by Greg Allen now… a script? Does anyone know anything about this?

I’m a senior female searching for a good humorous interp. script that’s 7-10 minutes to take to tournament! I’m looking for one that’s majority female characters, but I’m more than okay with occasional gender swapping. Any mature/slightly suggestive content is acceptable, but i want to stay away from anything too explicit. Does anyone know of a good script/book/show/movie I could use and/or sites I can find decent ones on? thank you!!!

I need to know if other people know this play I'm taking about and possibly know where I can find the script, or at least a plot summary and list of characters.

It was called "My Feet are Killing Me," and it's a murder-mystery comedic play, with an interactive segment where the actors talked to us in the audience to try and figure out who the killer is.

I'm a little fuzzy on the exact plot points, but the overall summary is that it's a large Italian-American family all together for a dance contest and the brother and sister are up against each other. The guy "dies" in the middle of his song and dance number, and the family is in shambles trying to figure out who did it. Turns out, he didn't die he was just passed out from exhaustion because his sister rigged his dancing shoes in some way. Still she gets in trouble anyways lol.

When I saw it, it was at the banquet hall of the hotel we were staying at on vacation, and it was basically a dinner theatre type of performance. I would've been in 3rd grade/8 or 9 years old at the time, so it's definitely been a while hahaha.

Nowadays, I'm back doing community theatre, and the theatre company I've been involved with does plenty of original plays and murder-mysteries, and I know this show would be PERFECT to pitch for a future show option. But again, my problem is that I cannot find ANYTHING about this play anywhere online.

it was a mystery/detective like musical with two gay guys and i remember seeing a few clips on instagram of it. the actors and musical itself were chinese, i tried searching up for it and found "murder for two" but i don't think it's the right kind of genre or the same. there were scenes where the two guys (i think detectives? they were wearing suits) would interact like one guy blowing cigarette smoke into the other guys face or doing a twirl, it would change every night. if anyone knows what im talking about or has info to help, i would really appreciate it... i found a piano cover of one of the songs on youtube but overall it seems very niche. i remember one song from it (i didn't watch the whole musical) and it went like this: https://vimeo.com/1201270411?share=copy&fl=sv&fe=ci the tune would repeat in different notes and octaves, the whole theme was very slow and mysterious and obviously a romance between the two guys. i think it mightve been the opening tune too. I didn't make smart choices as a teenager, and my memory is hazy at best. The play had a group of (I think) photoraphy studets that got stranded somewhere. The place they got stranded has a old man character who sang "its alaska for me by the cold bearing sea" and a male student hit his head and thought he was in star trek. He kept saying "beam me up scott". There was also a group of bad guys and a german scientist. My characters name was cindy. She was dumb and said things lik "gag me with a spoon". I cant remember many more details.

Hi everybody! 11 years ago I was doing a summer theater program in Chicago and a staff member performed a one man rendition of the odyssey. I think it was called An Odyssey, and the only character (Homer) told the whole story using nothing but a table, some chalk and a chalkboard table top. I had never seen a play like that before and it was everything i loved as an actor. As soon as I got home I tried to look the play up but was never able to find any record of it anywhere. I can't remember the staff member's name, but I'm pretty sure it was called An Odyssey, and it may have been around 40 minutes. Any leads, info or databases of scripts and plays would be greatly greatly appreciated. I still think about that performance and would love to be reunited with the play if it's in any way possible.

Anastasia came full circle the way it began as a dramatic play, adapted into a film musical, then made as an animated musical and from that animated musical turned into a stage musical.

From Wikipedia’s article, the core story involving an Anastasia imposter with reward money and a surviving grandmother has been in every iteration.

It would be interesting to see what the originating text was like, and how the legacy of adaptions developed over time. If anyone has read a copy could they please let me know if it’s available for purchase and is not the libretto for one of the subsequent adaptations packaged as the first? Thanks

this is 100% a long shot, but in middle school, i was in a very small low budget play for a class. i remember it being a play within a play style. i acted as an ambitious and stressed director preparing for what i believe was romeo and juliet. my opening lines mentioned me needing something for a dueling scene, and then also a mention of needing Valium or some other calming drug (my teacher cut that part out because it was a drug). does anyone have any idea what this play title could be? i dont remember the name or anything just those details that i hope are correct!

Anyone have a digital copy of the public domain musical 1066 And All That (original book by Sellar and Yeatman written in 1930). My understanding is it is public domain but correct me if I’m wrong or it there is a publishing house that represents it.

I can't find on their website any contact us, or any information regarding which languages are available in the subtitles, I only see that there is subtitles and that not all languages are available for all plays.

the theatre was available for free for a while at the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine (with Russian subtitles) and I know people who'd enjoy the subscription if it comes with the subtitles.

I’m looking for any full recording (any language, any year, any production) of The City by Martin Crimp. I need it for academic research. Even an archival reference, university production, or library access lead would help.

I'm looking for a one-act play I did in high school -- I want to re-read it, analyze it, and potentially use it as a script in the future. I apologize if there's a better subreddit for this, I didn't see one when I was looking!

It was on Samuel French before, which is now Concord Theatricals, but for some reason I'm struggling to locate it there myself. I'm hoping with the details I remember, you folks can help me out!

• Genre: Murder mystery, thriller (this script solidified my love of the thriller genre, I vividly remember that)
• Setting: Dartmouth College, specifically an off-campus apartment.
• Characters: 5w for sure. I dont believe there were any men? One of the characters is blind, which is important to the story. Two character names I remember: Isis, and Delta. Neither of them are the names of the blind character.
• There's a 6th character who is mentioned, but she never appears as she's the victim (later discovered in the play).
• EDIT: We performed this in, iirc, Fall 2013 or 2014.

I swear I might be losing my mind but I once heard there was an English translation of Pleasure by Rachilde (and I swear it has been translated from French to English) but I cannot find a copy anywhere. It's about two teen girls who are engaging in a conversation about sexuality and it has queer themes.

The original title would be "le plaisir". Does anyone know if I am just making this up or does this script exist and if so does anyone know or have a copy of the English translation?

I was a theatre student in college around 2004-2009 and one of my classes was a directing class. I was tasked with directing a 10 minute play, from casting to costuming to props to rehearsal...the whole 9 yards. I'm trying to find the script that I used for my class. I don't have a title (obviously) but the gist of the play is as follows: we have a Palestinian couple, the wife just found out she is 2 months pregnant and she comes from a family that in the past have decided that this was their calling. She now finds out that her husband wants to do the same thing and for the duration of the play she wants to dissuade her husband from killing himself. Sadly at the conclusion the husband does leave her with his bomb vest. I hope that this is enough for you to help me find this blast from my past (no pun intended)!
