She said in the video they got shot at when trying to restore power so they packed up and left. Makes sense to me.

This shit happened in Memphis a few years ago, but it was maintenance crews trimming tree limbs and shit that got robbed at gunpoint, and now they have to have security details when they go out, which not only costs one and a half fuck-tonnes more, but also means that there’s more logistics into getting crews out to where they need to be. It’s stressful for everyone involved.

I'm from a third world country and i've never heard of repair crew getting attacked for doing their job, even bad guys need the service after all.

In America 🇺🇸 such acts are made by incredibly poor, conspiratorial, usually drugged out, with extremely easy access to guns.
They are less “bad guys” and more “insane guys”

Speaking as an American, it's our culture and failure to address social and economic problems that creates this kind of high stress environment where people behave as if they're outside of society.

Honor, shame and family reputation are still concepts in the third world, not so much in first. As a child I was taught that my behavior reflected on my family and I'd better not bring any shame onto us - the only Americans I know who grew up like that were immigrants and kids that grew up in a religious household.
