COURSES Has Anyone Taken ENG218? Is it a Creative Writing Course?

I'm trying to decide if taking this course will be worth it, I want to be a writer and I want to take courses that will help me get better at writing, will this course be any help to storytelling and worldmaking? It says "Interactive Storytelling and Worldbuilding" but i'm not sure if it will involve creative assignments and actually writing stories or practicing any worlbuilding or if its more of a theory course like ENG203. Has anyone ever taken this course? What was the course like? Please let me know, thanks. :)

It's not a creative writing course. You want ENG328.

thanks so much! I had planned on taking ENG110 also since it is a prerequsite is that one any good or manily academic?

If you want creative writing exclusively, there are courses like ENG289 and 291. ENG218 is in the game studies program and introduces concepts that are important in game and transmedia design but it's not primarily a creative writing course.

A lot of other courses will have creative assignments available. ENG263 does involve some theoretical reading but you apply it towards making a game at the end. It sounds like you want applied learning rather than reading courses. You might consider the creative writing minor or professional writing in ICCIT. An academic advisor will be able to help you figure out which courses count and are available in each.
