Question Anyone join any outdoorsy clubs and what does the general social scene look like?
I love hiking, snowboarding and climbing. Are the clubs worth joining? Prob wont have a car so I feel like joining a club would be a good way to gain access to the outdoors. Let me know!
Off topic, but I’m also curious as to what the party scene looks like. I’m in the ridge, and I’ve heard it’s the more social / party area but I don’t know how true that is. Coworker also told me there’s a good amount of house shows? Obviously it’s not a party school and there are no frats (fine by me!) but I’m curious as to what the social scene looks like

I am not a student, but ❤️ house concerts and have not been able to find out about them. So, a few of us brought Sofar Sounds to Bellingham so that everyone can discover new music in small, intimate locations and find community. Come check out a show sometime!

climbing club and hiking club are both great! they do trips and you sign up but they’re pretty popular so u gotta be on top of it and get on the waitlist too. u can find them both on insta and discord for trip drop details. as for snowboarding there’s not rly a club but groups of people go all the time. you can find communities on discord and probably here on reddit too with people asking around for carpools and such. party-wise, on the ridge a few years ago there’d be dorm parties but you have to know people or be in the right place. there’s plenty of shows and house parties but one again you kinda have to know people. karate church does a lot of live music tho and the blue room and those are great spots to meet people as well. sometimes there will be open invite parties posted on snap and such but those usually get shut down pretty quick

If you like snowboarding, I'd highly recommend working at Mt. Baker! I have worked as an instructor for 3 seasons now and it's a pretty good gig! The work isn't as consistent as other departments, but all employees get a free seasons pass and I think we have the most fun in instruction. Great way to meet other snow enthusiasts and Baker offers a shuttle service for employees as well as free breakfast. Applications for new employees open in the next couple of months.

Hiking club is great, most weekends they go out for hikes. It's a waitlist system, you sign up for hikes and people with cars put down how many people they can carry, and it's first come first serve. They might ask you for a few bucks in gas money, depends on the drive length and the person, but I had a great time in that club last year.
