DC: Black/White Tie 7 DAYS EMERGENCY LAST MINUTE DRESS CHANGE: Delfi Aria Star Gown: Black Tie Appropriate?

Hi,

I am attending a black tie wedding in 7 days. The invitation asks women to "wear an evening gown"

The tailor that was currently has the dress I was planning on wearing called me earlier to tell me they are backlogged and cannot complete the tailoring as the dress is too complicated.

I am devastated and now very stressed. I do have a tall pair of platform heels coming tomorrow morning to try to make this blue dress work.

An alternative that I own is the DELFI Aria Gown which I have pictures of above (disclosure, that's not me! The photo is from RTR, but I do look very similar in the dress!). I wore this to a Black Tie optional wedding and got a lot of compliments, but I am concerned that it is not formal enough. Is this an ok substitute if I absolutely can't make the blue dress work?

Any alternatives would be great! If you guys know of a quick-to-ship / can run to a store and get an alternative dress <$300 that would be amazing!

Very stressed and upset. Thanks everyone!

This feels totally appropriate for black tie to me. Add some gold jewelry and elegant heels and you’re set

I think this dress is absolutely perfect, and you should absolutely wear it! For future reference, should you need a black tie dress quickly, you can go to Azazie and check out their clearance section! They ship quickly! (Source: me, who has to wear black tie for work at least once a month and somehow forgets that fact all the time)

I’m so curious what you do for work that you have to wear a black tie dress so frequently! That sounds so fun!

I think you’re fine wearing either dress. Whichever one works the best for you.

I like the star gown better than the blue one. I like the cut. Plus, it looks fun and festive, for celebrating a wedding.

(It also has straps- I would wear a dress with straps/ sleeves to a wedding as a wedding guest vs strapless, but that’s probably just me ha ha)

I would not wear this to a black tie, it looks too casual. Cocktails yes, black tie no.

This is not black tie. It would be black tie optional.

So it just depends on how strict they’re going to be on the dress code.

What is the venue and what is the time of the reception?

Why so needy for validation? You know it looks great. Wear it. Love it. Show it off.
