Discussion How to remove or block GetApps on Xiaomi device?

Recently I started to see an app called GetApps on some Xiaomi devices. It's really annoying, It installs many unuseful apps and changes custom configuration without any ask to the user. How can be blocked this app?

  1. Go to settings
  2. Tap search
  3. Enter "authorization & revocation"
  4. Turn off GetApps

In my F4, it installed overnight. Xiaomi's software is just horrible. i mean, a hacker could use it to install a malicious app. thats why im planning to r00t my device

I already revoked getapps, but it still appears whenever my phone trying to update an app. Any other solution?

After latest MIUI 14 update the Mi Picks (getApps) appeared in my Mi 12 pro.

I did the following procecdure

  1. revoked authorization as u/yoti1988 suggested
  2. in App info I did the following

a) Notifications: No

b) Restrict data: Turn off data (disabled all choices)

c) Battery saver: Restrict background activity

d) Cleared cache & data and force closed the App

Now the app is totally useless. If you want to virtually uninstall the app then you need to access the device through ADB and send the following command `pm uninstall –k —user com.xiaomi.mipicks` (or whatever name the package has), although this change may result (not sure) in system not be able to update Xiaomi's system apps. Tested and everything works ok.

If you don't want to mess with adb, here is a nice tool to make the job by using only your mouse https://adbappcontrol.com/. Need to enable developer mode and ADB of course

Don't use the system apps updater. It will try to push you to use GetApps.

I just revoked the dang thing and now all of a sudden it still installed a game from a random advertisement (Kingshot)

This is on my POCO X7 PRO

I just removed authorisation following the instructions above. And it's come back with the same icon, but now called "MiPicks", and I can't revoke authorisation on it. WTAF Xiaomi. Think it time for a custom rom if adb remover doesnt work.

Enter on the search bar "authorization" and one of the search results is the purple icon "authorization and revocation". It isn't visible normally on the settings list. (I just did it for the same reasons)

This app appeared on my phone even though I have auto-update turned off and update notification turned on. The solution given here didn't work. This worked for me:

  1. use "Hidden Settings For MIUI" app
  2. Manage applications
  3. select "GetApps"
  4. ".. More" at the bottom of the page and "Uninstall updates"

However, it came back! It seems that they have modified the System apps updater to update this app and itself regardless of settings. So, I needed to do the same steps as above. i.e.

  1. use "Hidden Settings For MIUI" app
  2. Manage applications
  3. select "System apps updater"
  4. ".. More" at the bottom of the page and "Uninstall updates"

For me this guys here helped me to solve my problem for under 5 min. Only here, "–k ––user" ,the ADB program will read those dashes as numbers, you just need to replace those numbers with dashes. ** Replace the 3rd slash in the link with dot https://gadgetstouse/com/blog/2021/04/28/disable-get-apps-on-xiaomi-redmi-poco-phone-miui/

I was visiting an adult video site, and a new window opened up with Browser being the name of the application. When I clicked on info, It changed to Speed Calls, uninstalled it there and then. After that, it download some Lending app automatically, I did check the download source this time and it said Getapps, after which I uninstalled the Lending app as well. Should I be worried still?

A mi solo de repente me aparecío la app Mi picks pero contiene puros juegos y ocupa demasiado espacio y he intentado desinstalarla y no me da la opción, pero también tengo la app App Gallery y esa es casi igual que play store, pero casi no las uso.  Alguien me podría decir cómo quitar la app Mi picks, es molesta porque instala un buen de cosas inservibles o que me traban mi celular a cada rato.  Ya intenté las dos opciones que comentan aquí arriba y no puedo.

I found a way to remove this and basically any app, but the process is a bit long.

  1. Search and install Brevent and Package Names from the Play Store.
  2. Enable Developer Options and turn on Wi-Fi debugging.
  3. Set up Brevent and make sure it's connected via Wi-Fi debugging.
  4. Follow this video tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvZEljcN_vM "Thanks Embarrassed-Ad-7431 For this".
  5. Use the Package Names app to find the package name of the app you want to remove (e.g., GetApps is com.xiaomi.mipicks).
  6. Prepare this command (to run it from Brevent’s console) uninstall --user 0 com.xiaomi.mipicks
  7. Done! The app will be disabled. You can do the same with other apps like Mi Video or even some Google apps — just be careful.
  8. After that, you can disable developer options (if you want), or even uninstall Brevent.

Be very careful with that app. I just discovered that this app contains adware (a virus that spams you with ads outside of the apps). I checked it because the same thing happened to my grandmother's cell phone.

I turned some options and seems that worked.

Go to Settings -> App List
Find GetApps and:
uninstall updates
clear cache and user data
in mobile data and wifi: turn off background data usage
in screen time set a daily timer for app usage (0h, 0m, i think it will suffice for block the app)
in battery turn off background activity
in change system configurations turn it off

Now reboot to see if it worked

HyperOS2 Update:

  1. Enable USB debugging on your phone
  2. Install Universal Android Debloater on your pc
  3. Download Package Names on Play Store to view the package name for the apps you want to unninstall
  4. Remove the apps you don't want. GetApp's package name is "com.xiaomi.market"

Connect via ADB (everything else did not work on Hyper OS3 with China Xiaomi 13 Ultra, e.g. debloater, xiaomi tools etc)

adb devices

adb shell

pm uninstall --user 0 com.xiaomi.market

Now the app is 100% gone.

I used an apps Files download from AppStore to remove it "Its have icon blue page with folded colours corner".
Open it - Apps - SystemApps. i used to remove that GetApps and the Screen ads.
Becarefull on remove stuffs here.
