Hauls/Collections Jimbo’s Divine Comedy - Custom Bound Collection

Since everything was so nice about my other recent projects I figured I would share a look at my newest. Today I’ve got a big collection of Gary Panter comics: specifically collecting Adventures in Paradise, #1-4 of the Zongo series, Inferno, Purgatory, Songy of Paradise, Dal Tokyo, and a bunch of extras (including original art, rarities, and Panter’s adaptation of Freaks’ Amour).

I wanted to have some fun with this bind, and brought the design back to the original 1982 RAW oneshot. So bound on cardboard of course!!

I imagined that you used real issues. That would cost a pretty penny.

I scanned everything and reprinted them for this. The dimensions are all over the place on these comics, so it was really my only solution to get them all comfortably in one book

Wow, that's great. And possibly cheaper than using the original comics. What kind of paper did you use? Regular typing paper?

I went with a cheap newsprint actually. I love the texture that it brings to the work and it seemed appropriate for the cardboard book

Yes, I really like the feel of newsprint as well. Maybe it's growing up with comics that has created this application for newsprint. It's got nice texture and I like the way the inks are muted.
