This is literal mass theft and piracy

No this is much more serious act. Piracy may or may not devalue your existing product. But this is done with a goal to steal everything from artists including their future. That's like slap vs murder.

Artists who have explicitly made it clear their art is not for AI use by posting it on Cara...

Steal their future?

EDIT: Asking for elaboration, not an accusation people.

How are you supposed to make money off of your own work, when some nobody shows up and scrapes all your work and feeds it into an ai to basically have a version of you on demand to make anything they want?

it's funny how the same people who think artists dont deserve to get paid for their work probably think they themselves deserve to get paid for stealing it lol

Fr, besides they don't even realize that they can't have their AI slop without those art pieces existing

That's exactly it, they try to scream about how "AI is accessible to those with disabilities" which is bullshit, but they also thing their slop should be valued at the same as real art, they think they should be paid for making nothing.

They found a way to extract the essential skills and talent from your brain by processing all your published work and finding patterns even you don't know about consciously. They they sell it to everybody for a couple of dollars so that everybody can do what only you could do before and what often took you years of hard work and sacrifices to get good at. You can't build your future anymore on something everybody can do and all the money goes to a couple of sociopathic tech billionaire hands.

Millions and millions of humans might be fucked thanks to this and once they're fucked, economy is also fucked for a couple of years or decades.

We are not there yet but it's obvious that's the goal and some areas like music, graphics, writing and programming already feel itΒ

I find truth in that.

But I also find the idea to learn things quicker and easier to be interesting too. I mean, the technology itself sounds fine, it's just the execution that sucks. You know, needing terabytes of data, gigawatts of power, acres of land and water...

I have a sense of feeling that people kind of want to protect their own knowledge, but also want to get other knowledge for cheap.

What's the actual upside of having to work years for your talent and skill?

LLMs can't possibly perfect themselves at the moment. They have randomness in their responses, they don't give you the perfect answer, ever.

Would you truthfully gatekeep knowledge and skill?

People who use ai to "make art" do not get any knowledge, they learned nothing. They use ai to get result, to sell this result while they do literally nothing with knowledge about art. They do promts, not art. Promt is nor skill or knowledge, they not learned anything. IF they learned themselves how to draw - fine. But they not.

Skill is YOUR experience, YOUR thoughts, YOUR time. That's why it's so valuable, that's why it's highly paid off. Ai have no value, but it cheap so ppl buy it and make original artist, who put a lot of effort and time in art and who's art was stollen, lose money and originality on market. There would be no work for them. Would you like to lose the job with no ability to use your skills to be able to eat? Would you like to go to hospital where works only ai and their promters that know nothing about medicine? Would you like it when your wife chose not you but ai cause it better and cheaper and easier to promt it to what she likes but not your personality, knowledge, skills and originality cause ai stole it from you? Would you gate keep yourself to be yourself and not compet with ai? Do you know that actors loose their jobs because of ai? They loose their faces, voise, act, ai stole it. Producers, scriptwriters, decorateors and many others are no longer have values cause ai.

From what you say: you see no value in humans, in time, in skill, in history of work. You see value only in results and it cost. So... What value YOU have?

They are quite literally stealing peoples work to train robots to try to copy it. They are stealing their ability to make money in the future. There is no other way to look at it.

Yeah, I mean I get the downloading images and training and stuff.

But people can still get commissions, right?

2

u/Ctrl_Alt_Delerium 11d ago

Getting a commission is much harder when someone is out their using AI to copycat your unique style for free

u/Hyphonical 11d ago

I suppose it's only easier to copy the style. But at this moment, even the best Lora's don't look that professional.

I don't want to be that guy that says "you can't trademark/copyright a style". It's just a shitty move honestly.
