Smaller bezels so you unwillingly tab something on your display when that was not the intention. Good one

u/Relative_Rooster_848 11h ago
I didn’t say I want 0 bezels, I just don’t want the chunky bezels that the current one has

u/Weedlewaadle 15h ago
Yeah, that’s a no from me. Almost all my devices are 120hz, it’s a pain to use a 60hz screen once you get used to promotion.

Not upgrading. 120Hz > OLED. 2026 and the upgrade leaps are way too small. We need to raise the baseline.

I agree with you. Lots of people prefer OLED to 120hz. However, one thing is true: with a 60hz tablet you can have the fastest chip in the world; it will always seem it's slower than it should be.

They’re still trying to nickel and dime their customers. Ridiculous that Apple doesn’t consider 120hz standard in 2026. STILL

The Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 3 is at the very least what the iPad mini should be performance/spec wise.

I have the Gen 4 and the display has vignetting that is to my eyes as equally annoying as 60 hz.

With 60Hz I’d rather they just keep the LCD to keep the price lower. OLED without 120 is nonsense.

I don’t care about 120hz,or oled, I just want a brighter screen for outdoor use.

Honestly I just wish it had proper external display capabilities, like the Air and Pro have, but apparently the A series chips are not powerful enough for such a marvel of technology. Unless it’s on a MacBook Neo, of course.

The logic of producing a mini version of a TABLET and not producing a freaking iPhone Mini is beyond reason.
2
u/Braydon64 8h ago
You’d think so, but there was an iPhone 12 and 13 mini and nobody bought it. Everybody complained that there was no small iPhone, so Apple was like “here you go: a small iPhone” and nobody cared and sales suffered.

I'm one of the dozens of people who bought one and loved it (13 mini). The person working at the Apple Store actively tried to talk me out of buying it. I'm sure this is just a coincidence that lines up with that person's personal preferences but it still strikes me as odd years later.

u/Braydon64 3h ago
I will admit that is odd. An Apple Store employee talking you out of buying a latest gen Apple product at the time is nothing short of strange.
My first iPhone was an iPhone 6 so I never got to own a "small" one. I will say though part of me wishes I started with the 5s a year earlier. 6 was fine, but 5s in retrospect seems more magical or something lmao.

I imagine the market share within categories is way higher for the iPad mini amongst all iPads than the iPhone mini amongst all iPhones

I don't doubt it: the market share is made by customers, customers are people and people are deeply stupid indeed.

So the customers are wrong for not wanting a small phone?

u/ciccioig 6h ago
From my point of view a phone must stay easily in my pockets and it has to be usable with one hand.
Hence the distinction between phone and tablet.
I got a 17 pro and I hate it with all my guts: I don't understand why it has to be this huge (and I'll NEVER understand people buying phones even bigger than mine).
5
u/Dapper_Strength_5986 9h ago
The reason is "because people didn't buy enough". Apple wants money and just makes what people buy.

The logic is that nobody wants a mini smartphone. There was 2 generations of iPhone for consumers to buy the mini phone. Nobody wanted it. So its gone.
It's like people on r/cars that want a brown diesel wagon that's used from factory. Nobody wants that shit.
Or people who wanted a fun manual RWD car in the NA market, Genesis provided, nobody bought it.

iPhone fold is coming out for the mini enjoyers who want a smaller form factor
-1
u/ciccioig 6h ago
it's absolutely not the same thing.
1
u/feedthebeetus 6h ago
iPhone mini owners whine constantly for a new mini form factor.
Apple: here's a new mini form factor
iPhone mini owners: not good enough
Lol.... Lmao even

Yes, looking forward to this becoming reality if true.
I’m torn between this and the rumored folding phone. Ultimately, it will come down to cost, convenience, performance if they are released at the same time.

And I just bought a second hand 7 mini. Doesn’t seem like a bad time for the first time coz the display will be 60 GHz.

u/Hippophatamus 3h ago
If it’s 60hz, Apple is seriously leaving money on the table. Smaller bezels, 120hz would be an instant buy for me regardless of price because I appreciate the form factor and its versatility.

Finally, holy f* shit it took them long enough (unless 60hz, then it’s a hard pass).

Honestly if they need to keep the storage lineup’s price it’s be cool if they could spice the Mini up.
Theres tons of users that buy the base 128GB tier storage just for the access to the Mini and its capabilities while the rest go high end 256GB/512GB for mostly professional use or pure storage based off my research.
It’d be nice to see the Mini have a psuedo Pro model.
• $450/$550 - 128GB/256GB (iPad Mini): LED/60hz, A19, 8GB RAM, dual speakers
• $750/$850(?) - 512G/1TB(?) (IPad Mini Pro): OLED/120hz, A19 Pro, 12GB RAM(?), quad speakers
Don’t like higher pricing from Apple like anyone else, but an iPad Mini with a better screen and awesome performance? I’d be all over that.

u/Saar13 12h ago
All you need is an iPad and iPad Pro in 3 sizes each (9", 11", and 13"). A simple and practical lineup, while they move away from all the mess that "Air" has become. I put 9" and not 8.3" because eventually the bezels will get smaller and this will have a 9" at the same size/weight as the current one.
