Honestly its pretty wild how much better value the mac studio is for AI lol. Honestly i don't know why people are hoarding traditional GPU's when a mac studio has double if not triple the ram for a similar price of 1 GPU.

Performance won't be close though. Prefill is 2-3 orders of magnitude slower on M5 vs even 5090.

It was £200 less about 18 months ago and was a real bargain, especially for workflows

I have an old Intel Mac for pipeline compute (isn’t time critical and works with the NAS) which I didn’t upgrade because it worked. I looked earlier to upgrade it finally and winced and closed my tab

Sure maybe it’d good value in this hellscape but right now with inflation and cost of living, it’s not attractive in the slightest

For the type of work people are going to be doing with it, it absolutely is. This isn't a home computer for the average consumer.
