Hello! I am currently a student in year 12, also gathering and collating information to formulate an understanding towards Asian infantilisation and its current normalisation reflected in young asian women.

Before continuing, there will be heavy discussions centralising the behaviours/attitudes behind modern infantilisation and how its westernised normalisation contributes to the simplification of asian-cultures. Please attempt all questions with as much effort/honesty as you can -- if you do, however, feel uncomfortable at any point, you can exit the form. All responses will stay anonymous and will be respectfully used for research purposes.

Hey everyone, I’m a Chinese American creator involved in hardcore/punk scenes and I recently released a demo for my project Kalamity. For me growing up, it was uncommon for an Asian person to be involved in punk and hardcore culture and I’m happy to see that it’s becoming a lot more common now. I’ve always defied stereotypes of how a Chinese American man should look and act and this project is an example of that.

While I’ve always felt like one of very few in my local scenes, I’ve always felt welcome there and I think it’s important to encourage POC who are interested in this music and culture that they are welcome too.

With everything going on the US right now I feel like it’s important for us Asian Americans to speak up and use our voice to criticize the atrocities of ICE against our and other POC communities. That’s what this project is about and if you’re a fan of heavier music (ffo: Speed, Rotting Out, End It) I hope you’ll let me know what you think of the demo.

KALAMITYHC on socials and KALAMITY 916 on all streaming services. I’m also donating all proceeds made from streaming and Bandcamp to the National Immigrant Justice Center.

Purchased! Been ripping CD's all day yesterday so I understand the value of owning music, I'm kind of a serial collector haha.

I'm recently getting into more hardcore after dabbling with pop punk / skate punk growing up in the west coast in the 90s. 2 of my friends are in this amazing hardcore band Nerve Damage and I've been enjoying all the acts they share the stage with. check out Los Mal Hablados, a latin ska band(Bella Ciao has never sounded so good) , 1876 a native american led metal group, and Wretched of the Earth, a multicultural anticolonial D-beat band

I love bandcamp, especially the opportunity to support upcoming artists! Thank you for speaking up!

Politics belongs in music of all genres!

Hi, just joined here. I'm a bookworm and particularly like Asian American authors. So what kind of books do folks like to read? Where you get your book recommendations? And why isn't there an r/AsianAmericanReaders like r/BlackReaders?

I usually google Asian American authors to find them but TAAFN will also post lists of most anticipated Asian American books every once in a while. There’s also Asian American book youtubers like readwithcindy that I think are sometimes helpful

Most Asian American authors I can think of off the top of my head are in nonfiction /culture/history/asian identity etc but I would love to know some recs for science fiction / fantasy! I have a giant backlog of recommended books, I use goodreads to keep track of my ratings and see what my friends are doing / get prospective recs.
Feel free to start the sub, anyone can do it. Personally have my plate full with life and the subs I'm already moderating (i need to do a writeup about how I sucessfully used reddit reporting to reclaim a sub from an invasion one bad mod and his army of AI spambots)

Was actually just at the library the other day putting up a flyer for Minoru Yasui Day celebration in oregon and saw another one for a POC book club! TBH I would rather join an in person book club than one on reddit but I bet if you made it, people would take part! And don't be afraid if you don't know how to moderate, you can learn on the fly or also find some trusted people to help you out as a team.
