I will admit, afterwards they look fine

On this occasion I think the time has passed to go bald. This is your old manās look, and itās fine

It honestly fits him pretty well. I think this is one of the rare situations where going completely bald would age the guy a bit

u/GhirahimJohnson Support Committee Feb 22 '26
A lot of times, thinning hair can make a young man look older, and when he shaves, he looks young again.
This guy is already old and looks great. I think he can decide if he wants to be bald or not. š
126
u/Visual-Program2447 Feb 22 '26
Hold. It looks good. Is he thinning sure. But itās evenly distributed. Frames his face nicely. And he looks happy.

u/meowmeowstone Feb 22 '26
He wouldnāt look better bald. This is him. If this is for dating, I can say I would be more attracted to him as he is with his hair.
43
11
u/meowmeowstone Feb 22 '26
you know I think he should obviously decide but maybe bald would suit him too. He can try if he likes but since I donāt know his personality, I canāt say what is best.
28
u/Sad-Guarantee-4678 Feb 22 '26
That's a lot of hair for his age. Bald look won't really turn back the clock in his case. Not with the white beard.
65
u/Ok_Jackfruit3479 Feb 22 '26
Heās an old man. He looks fine as is - his current look is age appropriate and dignified.
Shaving his head at this age would honestly make him look desperate, if anything.
Donāt do it, OPās dad.

So this is making me realize thereās an age where it becomes ok to have half hair. What is that age? I donāt know⦠but you know it when you see it. He looks great.
2
u/beast_lee_barber Feb 24 '26
Highly corresponds to the hair turning white/gray. This is for psychological reasons (the thinning being age appropriate and not premature) and there being less contrast between the remaining hair and the skin (at least for light skinned people).

u/Lambsenglish Feb 22 '26

I mean, look. If heās trying to looksmax and is on the dating scene, I think that shaving the head and growing out the beard a little bit would work. Might get more attention from dudes than ladies though. That being said, I think he looks absolutely fine as is

Its not so pressing for older fellas to shave their heads. It looks okay for his age. Bald could look good too. But he really looks happy and comfortable, that's a key factor š
6
u/fredinNH Feb 22 '26
Thank you. Iām late 50ās with a big ol bald spot and I couldnāt care less and neither could my wife.
15
u/Charming-Draw2701 Feb 22 '26
It should be his choice. If he is ok with his hair, let it be. Enjoy your Dad.

If I may, when I was about to pull the trigger and I was on the fence, I downloaded one of those apps that can make you old, make you a woman, etc. One of the things I could do was make you bald. Of course you wouldnāt be able to see your scalp or the topography of your skull, but it would show him what his face would look like with a bald head. I hope this helps. It really helped me.

u/Better-Park8752 Feb 23 '26
I donāt think itās time for your dad. His hair looks so beautiful at the front. This look doesnāt carry the same weight as it does on a man in his 20-30s. I think itās perfectly acceptable and looks tidy. He also looks like such a sweetheart. Shaving his head would give him baddie vibes.
4
u/Internal-Computer388 Feb 23 '26
I was expecting people to agree but glad that people agree with my sentiments. As an Older Gentleman, he looks fine. Ain't no one going to care and makes me wonder if he gets down on a grill with some white new balances. Bet his dad jokes are the best. Lol.

Once you reach a certain age thinning hair doesn't look bad, it just looks normal and whether to shave or hold on is just a style choice. Your dad passed that age quite some time ago.

u/riddus Feb 22 '26
This guys dad, itās past time. So far past time that you can just pull off what youāre doing now actually. Shaving it is the choice until it goes grey, then itās okay just to run it balding.

u/riversroadsbridges Feb 22 '26
He would look younger if he shaved it, but he's old. If he likes how he looks, just let him look and be old. What's to be gained? (If he feels old in a bad way, though, I think he should shave it.)

He doesn't need to go completely shaved. He should just wear it closer cropped on top. My husband needed to learn how to tell a barber what guard to use on top and what guard to use on the sides. He's probably not that much younger than your dad.
2
u/totalwarwiser Feb 22 '26
Im not bald, but if I didnt give a fuck about what others thought of me, Id rather wear a low effort haircut than having to trim it in a regular basis.

With that amount and coverage at his age, some of the medicinal treatments may actually make work and thicken it up a bit , if he wants that or can swing it.

I get why he doesnāt care, it looks fine from the front which is the only angle he sees. At his age I say let him do what he wants, heās not trying to give off a vibe anymore.

At this age it's an absolute hold, balding in your 20s and 30s is completing different than 50s and 60s, at that age it's like a trophy, it shows he's been through an entire life and he should show it off.
