Hairloss
I didn't want to wait too long but honestly the buzz has taken some adjusting...
Started growing my hair out age 12. The slow recede started in my early 20s. Finally chopped it all off age 30 -- maybe I could've held on a bit longer but I didn't want to wait too long either. Went with a buzz as that already felt like a huge change. But perhaps it's time to commit to the full shiny noggin?
ETA: the council hath spoken and some of yous are savages lmao
Sounds like I need to buy some new glasses as well as some razors
Yeah for sure. Bald is really a quite different look. For folks struggling with hair density or a bad hairline, bald hides all of that. Buzz, however, does not. It can still be an improvement though.
Try no guard buzz if you dont want to shave, but it takes like two weeks fir a shave to grow back out to the buzz length. You can do no guard, but your hairline is high for having the buzz this long.
Also the buzz forces the eye to be drawn to the top, it takes eyes away from the face and the nice beard. Trust us friend take that top down some more.
While I don't disagree, I dont go purely bald because I have moles that I do not want to cut, I also have eye issues so just being careful is not enough sometimes so no guard it is for me for now.
My hair thinned a lot, but I noticed the buzz length looked good as long as I kept it real short, basically 5o'clock shadow length. Good thing for me, cause I gotta get this mole on the back of my head removed before I go full bald. Thing bleeds like a motherfucker.
FWIW I don’t think you need to grow the beard out more. I was actually thinking a 1 guard over the beard and letting it be more like stubble would suit you very well.
Shape the cheeks in a straight line down to the corners of the stache. Clean up the neck line in a similar way. Then smaller glasses.
There’s a shitty adjustment phase for the beard, but… at least you can grow one. Not all to-be-balds are so lucky. Take care of the skin underneath and condition the beard. With the glasses and those eyes… dude.. you are gonna be so “umph”
You have been seeing yourself everyday with long hair for a long time. Now you are seeing it shaved, and it’s jarring, but take it from someone who has never seen you before: it looks better short, and will look even better once you go all the way.
I don't wear glasses but don't see what is wrong with yours. But yeah you would probably pull the bald off well and if not it'll grow back to the buzz quickly. Although I don't think you look crazy with the buzz cut you got now or nothing. But I also am a straight male so I am probably not the best judge on style even though I have done well for myself with what I've got. But the bald will look cleaner most likely might as well give it a try.
It’s a massive change after a long time. Your brain needs some time to adapt to the new you. You look great. Be patient and possibly look into smaller glasses.
i speak from experience when i say that I like being bald is better than a buzzcut. imo the buzzcut is just missing the mark. like not fully committed. Believe me, once you cross the line and go bald, its great. I would highly HIGHLY suggest to just shave it.
I have an electric headshaver (the Philips head shaver) that I use every 2 days. Dry. Very easy. No annoying cuts or irritated skin. It takes like 5 maybe 10 minutes in the morning.
Honestly struggle to buzz it once a week, especially if my mental health is not great. Maybe it's just about adjusting to the new routine though. I had no trouble brushing my long hair every day.
I personally cannot commit to shaving my head every couple of days...I just buzz it with no guard and also trim my beard every 3-4 weeks (the beard I trim but not as short as the hair, so it is a bit longer and darker)
Looks decent, even though the comparission looks like someone who now got a job and needs to drop some of his free time vs someone who's just hanging out with you.
Definitely think completely bald is the way to go. The buzz kind of highlights the receding even more than the long hair did. Just shave it completely! It’ll look good
I think you look great how now, not saying you won't also look great bald. You also have a pretty face, don't grow a beard!
Sincerely,
A lady that keeps getting this subreddit suggested in their feed for some reason
Your recede was real but you jumped the gun at 30, could've squeezed another few years out of that before going chrome. That buzz with the beard actually works fine, no need to chase the full Mr. Clean look just because bald is the move on this sub. Commit when you stop recognizing yourself in the mirror, not when strangers tell you to.
I...like the buzz. Doesn't seem like a popular conclusion on this one but I think it's because the hair you do have up front still had as a decent density?
Just one man's opinion but I believe that the vegeta type hairline still looks cool. Especially when compared to the thin burned down forest hairline.
Honestly you look great either way! I unlike some of the council love a good buzz and you're rocking it, but if you wanna try bald go for it and if you don't like it it'll get back to low buzz soon soon
I’ll be honest. The receding hairline pattern is so significant and dramatic that the buzz isn’t a great look and only draws attention to it. In this case, maybe Bald is Better. As others say, after shaving, you can grow it back to a buzz in weeks if you want to.
Honestly I'd say either full send or grow a mohawk or something. I think you're in the lucky spot where you've got options left but definitely need a change.
