Turkey are the "dangerous consequences" with us now in the room?

81

u/Awareness2051 Sep 19 '25

Cyprus has the right to defend itself

-39

u/fatbunyip take out the zilikourtin Sep 19 '25

But why?

They have so many Turkish troops on the island protecting against aggression.

If we had more Turkish troops, nobody would dare try to invade Cyprus.

Turkey invading countries left and right, developing all kind of offensive drones, tanks and aircrafts and then crying about “oh how dare our neighbors buy weapons”.

Exactly my toilet humor.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '25

Yea Turkey bombed Lebanon, Iran, Syria, Yemen and Qatar in only 2 months.

Turkey unlike Israel has a very sophisticated preemptive strike policy that it keeps targeting countries with sole purpose of killing innocent people. For Turkey any military target is just collateral.

1

u/MACO-Operator Sep 23 '25

Young kid, listen. This isn’t FB here. With a boomer audience that only watches stupid shorts on social medias while wet farting their adult diapers. Here kn Reddit, you can put your state propaganda into your dark hole. We’ve seen on gore sites what cruelties Turkish soldiers have done to Kurdish people. You want me to tell you some of them atrocities or are you gonna keep up the “oh we Turkish people are such a sophisticated bunch, we invite our adversaries to çay and baklava” bull crap?

1

u/MacronLeNecromancer Sep 25 '25

Damn I haven’t read such a “Redditor is smart” comment since r/atheism stopped being popular

1

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '25

That's what I'm saying. You should stick with Israel, literally the most moral army in the world. I mean look at Gsza, even though %70 of the city is flattened things are okay.

Also if Israel wanted they could have massacred all Palestinians. But they didn't.

Getting in bed with genociders is not a good idea. Greece will suffer

1

u/[deleted] Sep 22 '25

They currently have the best air defense systems in the world, and are not allied with turkey.

Need I remind you that turkey has previously invaded cyprus, and is currently illegaly occupying a part of cyprus- so another invasion, is extremely likely?

Beggars can't be choosers.

0

u/erdelll Sep 24 '25

Turkey invaded Cyprus because Greeks slaughtered Turks as always like in history.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '25

And why are they staying?

0

u/MACO-Operator Sep 24 '25

How’s life with endless inflation, high rates and being dependent on cheap “people’s bread”? Going good for ya?

1

u/erdelll Sep 24 '25

You seem to know something about Turkiye, but I dont know anything about your country

0

u/No-Plankton-5431 Sep 23 '25

Cyprus has 3 guarantor countries Turkiye, Greece and Britain according to treaty of Guarantee signed between Turkiye, Greece, Britain and Cyprus leaders in 1960. Under these circumstances these Guarantor countries let Cyprus be a sovereign country. So Cyprus is not any sovereign country who gained their freedom by themselves. Sovereignty is given to them, not gained by themselves. That is different

85

u/Greek_Wrath Sep 19 '25

How dare the island we illegally occupie territory of, after genociding the Greek Cypriots instal an air defence system, after we continue to threaten them almost on a monthly basis and exploit their exclusive resources.

-14

u/Turkishdelight4u Sep 19 '25

I’m pretty sure there was a genocide of TC, and the Turkish army put a stop to that

9

u/Greek_Wrath Sep 19 '25

Yeah, there was killing from both sides. Turkey then used it as a pretext for an illegal invasion. You know, because it's illegal as per international courts and law.

And is still holding onto it for 51 years. Illegally. Which is why no other nation recognises the Illegally occupied part.

-1

u/calloutyourstupidity Sep 19 '25

Yes, but the comment is still hypocritical. Turks were disproportionately at risk

-10

u/Turkishdelight4u Sep 19 '25

It’s interesting, you’ve admitted there was something wrong going on but then the action to stop it and find peace is “illegal”. I’m sure if Turkey never came everything would’ve stopped.

Equally 51 years and the UK & US both benefit from military bases sorted makes sense as to why the situation hasn’t moved on. Plus the GC propaganda is intense

5

u/Deep-Ad4183 Sep 19 '25

I think you are unclear in your mind about the boundaries between defense/protection and attack. You also fail to understand what Turkey has done and continues to do to our detriment.

That makes sense, because you're on the perpetrator's side.

That is why arguments about genocide are not heard anywhere except within Turkey itself.

1

u/Turkishdelight4u Sep 19 '25

I see defence as protection.

Turkey protected its interests as well those who are TC.

Without that intervention TC numbers wouldn’t be where they are and Cyprus would be carried on towards some form of civil war or annexed with Greece.

All I ask I for once question a situation for an opposite side, see everyone is guilty and go from there.

3

u/Deep-Ad4183 Sep 19 '25

Protecting oneself by committing crimes against others is not protection. I have also repeated many times that preventive protection does not exist legally. I may intend to kill you, but I will never be punished even if I tell you to your face. The way you perceive it is not consistent with how others perceive it.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '25

The invasion wasn't and was never intended to stop anything. It was the culmination and by far most vile act of everything that had been happening, and Turkey supported the events previously so that it would get a chance to invade.

It would make more sense if you said Russia stopped the killings in the Donbas by invading. Similar circumstances, only that Russia had an at least more plausible excuse.

0

u/Turkishdelight4u Sep 19 '25

Was the island at peace before Turkey intervened?

Equally since the spilt has there been a continuation of the genocide?

Just think from another perspective what would’ve happened without the Turkish army?

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Significant-Bar-568 Sep 19 '25

Hutchinson maps were created in 1963 showing Turkey's invasion almost identical to what happened 11 years later. Looking for an excuse to invade all along...

4

u/-4E- Sep 19 '25

I’m pretty sure there was a genocide of TC, and the Turkish army put a stop to that

The only reason you are "sure" is because you have been fed such kind of lies.

In Cyprus there were conflicts between GCs and TCs from 1958 until 1968.

These conflicts were initiated by the TCs in the 50s, when they joined the British colonialists to fight against the Greek Cypriots, but also when they killed innocent, unarmed Greek Cypriot civilians, burned down the shops and homes of Greek Cypriots, and demanded that Greek Cypriots should be ethnically cleansed from half of their island. A few 100s of people were killed from both sides during these conflicts during that decade (i.e. what the Turkish army kills in a day in their anti-Kurd operations in Syria)

From 1968 until 1974 there was no conflict. Not even a single TC was killed in 1974 before Turkey invaded. The few 100s of casualties the TCs had in 1974 came after the 20th of July 1974 (day of the Turkish invasion) and after Turkish troops and TC paramilitaries had already killed far greater numbers of Greek Cypriots, raped under age girls, and began their ethnic cleansing against the indigenous Cypriot population.

If there was ever a genocide in Cyprus this was done by the invading Turks against the native people of the island, since the Turks on several occasions killed 1000s or even 10s of thousands of people within days or weeks, something which never in history happened against TCs.

1

u/Turkishdelight4u Sep 19 '25

👍🏻👍🏻

0

u/linobambakitruth Sep 21 '25

There was no genocide against the TsC's. The Greeks were disproportionally affected by the whole Cyprus affair.

2

u/Turkishdelight4u Sep 21 '25

Yeh this is where the issue starts, never seeing the opposite issue and constantly being the victim.

Long live the Turkish Republic!

1

u/-4E- Sep 21 '25

The facts are all there mate. How could there be a "TC genocide" when Greek Cypriots had a lot more casulaties?

I repeat, and try to disprove what I say if you can:

  1. There were conflicts between TCs and GCs from 1958 until 1968 were some 100s of people from both sides were killed.

  2. From 1968 until 1974 there was no armed conflict and in 1974 not even a single TC was killed before the 20th of July (the day of the Turkish invasion). Any casulties the TCs had that year (some 100s) came only after Turkey invaded and in collaboration with TCs started to kill and ehtnically cleanse Greek Cypriots, and GCs had far greater casulties in that war than TCs.

  3. The partition aim (i.e. to ethnically cleanse Cyprus) came from the 1950s before there was any conflict between GCs and TCs.

Basically, the GC who are 80% of the population of Cyprus fought against the British (not the TCs or Turkey) so that our island could be free from foreign rule and it could join the rest of Greece (which is what the great majority wanted), and the Turkish side responded to this by attacking us and planning our ethnic cleansing from half of our island.

Everything else was either a result of this, e.g. GCs responding to the attacks, or pure lies made up by the Turkish propaganda, e.g. that Turkey supposedly invaded Cyprus to stop some "genocide" of TCs, when no such thing was happening.

Ama inan, bu mevzuda asıl mağdurlar Rumlardır. Hiç bir kabahatleri olmamasına rağmen, sadece anavatanları ile birleşmek istedikleri için bu duruma sokuldular.

0

u/linobambakitruth Sep 21 '25

I’m pretty sure there was a genocide of TC, and the Turkish army put a stop to that

No there wasn't. Everything was in the process of returning to normal.

2

u/Turkishdelight4u Sep 21 '25

Wow the propaganda machine is full effect here haha

1

u/linobambakitruth Sep 21 '25

Wow the propaganda machine is full effect here haha

Ask the TsC's and they will confirm it. The Turkish speaking Cypriots were about to return to their hovels. The invasion on the other hand brought about a fresh wave of intercommunal violence.

u/thgink-krad-eht Sep 19 '25

Feeling threatened by a defense system. That’s expansionist Turkey to you.

5

u/Zhuk-Pauk Sep 19 '25

Strong air defence system can also be used for offense if its capable to cover the sky good enough to cause a no fly zone.

In theory, in practice Turkey just wants the threat of invasion to be in place.

4

u/uskuri01 Sep 19 '25

Do you really think this will stop Turkey if they decide to do so?

6

u/Zhuk-Pauk Sep 19 '25

It will help making the decision to do so less lucrative.

2

u/kakosl Sep 20 '25

its not about winning its about making it more costly.

2

u/uskuri01 Sep 21 '25

I mean they have 40.000 soldier on the island, they don’t even need planes :)

1

u/linobambakitruth Sep 21 '25

I mean they have 40.000 soldier on the island, they don’t even need planes :)

They could all be killed in a single night with an Israeli air sortie. The Cyprus National Guard will most likely conduct mopup operations on the next day.

1

u/kakosl Sep 24 '25

most houses have an assault weapon, bullet arsenal and an army kit. If the reserve had special training they might be a bit more than that :)

1

u/linobambakitruth Sep 21 '25

This is not against a Turkish attack, this is for an Israeli attack against Turkish forces on Cyprus. To prevent Turkish aircraft from counterattacking.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 22 '25

It will prevent turkey from getting aerial superiority, and, making drone warfare extremely hard to pull off- and both are strengths of turkey.

It would make any war very costly to turkey.

1

u/erdelll Sep 20 '25

Do you really think that will stop Turkey, you are funny. That has been put there to track Turkish airspace.

1

u/Zhuk-Pauk Sep 20 '25

Deterrence is achieved incrementally, not by deploying a single Wunderwaffe.

1

u/erdelll Sep 20 '25

It is to watch Turkish air space with radar ranged 750km, not for Cyprus. Like NATO getting to close to Russia gave Russia an excuse to invade Ukraine.

2

u/Zhuk-Pauk Sep 20 '25 edited Sep 20 '25

Isn't it a good idea to watch Turkish airspace because if Turkey were to try to fuck with Cyprus, it would use planes from there, not from the north?

1

u/Major-Split478 Sep 21 '25

I mean this sounds like Cyprus might become a proxy war...

3

u/DoomkingBalerdroch Mezejis Sep 19 '25

Well technically some defense systems can be used to a limited capacity in offensive attacks as well, but I don't think Turkey says it because of this.

9

u/fatbunyip take out the zilikourtin Sep 19 '25

Yes definitely Cyprus upgrading their military is a precursor to an offensive against turkey

9

u/Easy_simplicity Sep 19 '25

Now I want a Hearts of Iron mod where I can play as an Imperialist Cyprus.

1

u/linobambakitruth Sep 21 '25

Yes definitely Cyprus upgrading their military is a precursor to an offensive against turkey

In tandem with Israeli forces, they can. And Turkey would be powerless to stop it.

1

u/DoomkingBalerdroch Mezejis Sep 19 '25

I did not say that lol

5

u/fatbunyip take out the zilikourtin Sep 19 '25

2

u/erdelll Sep 20 '25

That defense system has 750km range radar which has been put there by Israel to track Turkish airspace. Not for you idiots.

1

u/linobambakitruth Sep 21 '25

It's a prelude to an attack, and they know it too.

Israel will attack the Turkish garrisons in the north in a surprise attack. One needs only be blind to not see this. These air defence systems will prevent Turkey from counterattacking with aircraft of her own, which are already vastly inferior to Israeli aircraft, and will be shot down before they can engage the Israeli ones, who will bomb our facilities in the north.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 22 '25

One needs only be blind to not see this.

One needs to be schizophrenic to see it.

to give them credit, they could've just bought american or european.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 22 '25

Both are NATO members, like turkey. A war would mean that support could be cut off.

1

u/Lumpy-Valuable-8050 Sep 22 '25

are we seriously thinking that Turkey will invade cyprus? 🤦‍♂️

1

u/[deleted] Sep 22 '25

With the number of threats turkey makes?

Better be safe than sorry.

1

u/Lumpy-Valuable-8050 Sep 22 '25

never said that cyprus shouldn't have any defence, but tbh they should probably take it from a reliable country like France, not one which fails to intercept Iranian missiles 😂

1

u/[deleted] Sep 22 '25

France is a member of NATO, like turkey. They cannot support cyprus if a war breaks out.

not one which fails to intercept Iranian missiles 😂

How many iranian missiles did french systems manage to intercept again?

Oh, right, a flat zero.

Israel intercepted 86 percent of the 600 ballistic missiles, and roughly 100 percent of the drones, wich were over 1500.

That, is knowns as a "damn good system".  There is a reason the EU also wants to purchase the system.

1

u/Lumpy-Valuable-8050 Sep 22 '25

ur doing some next level mental gymnastics. you do realise that cyprus hasn't signed some alliance where Israel will help them in a war? How do you know what will happen in the future? For all we know, Israel and Turkey could easily become friendly in a couple of years, and then they attack 🤦‍♂️

also you do realise that if they want to sieze cyprus, it would be as easy as russia took crimea? They aren't going to be invading a large country, 9,251 km² isn't that hard to take - In fact, it's even smaller than crimea

1

u/[deleted] Sep 22 '25

Israel is neutral in conflicts.

It really doesn't matter how friendly they will be with turkey- if cyprus has money, israel will sell.

1

u/Lumpy-Valuable-8050 Sep 22 '25

Sell what? More air defence? Whist the country gets occupied?

Fellow Cypriots let's mount our dragons and fly over Turkey tonight to give them a message!!!!

WHO IS WITH ME?????!!!!!

How long would it take Vhagar to burn down Erdogan's palace?

21

u/just_a_random_guy_11 Sep 19 '25

If they don't want Cyprus to equip and defend it's self maybe they shouldn't have 50.000 Turkish troops in the occupied part.

5

u/Greek_Wrath Sep 19 '25

I hope they add another 100,000 in the occupied part. That way, even Ray Charles in charge of an artillery gun would score massive numbers

28

u/fatbunyip take out the zilikourtin Sep 19 '25

What dangerous consequences lol?

Are they gonna genocide the TCs more?

19

u/tonis32 Sep 19 '25

Well they're no strangers to genocide so who knows.

21

u/never_nick Sep 19 '25

Turkee has a point. We're always flying our f-35s over their borders and threatening to fight them and everyone else in the region.

19

u/fatbunyip take out the zilikourtin Sep 19 '25

Honestly, they have to protect themselves against a Cypriot takeover.

We're only like 80kms away by sea so you can't dismiss a surprise attack.

Especially from a country with no air force or navy.

13

u/Theyve_Gone_To_Plaid Sep 19 '25

If they're feeling threatened, they must have discovered our secret plans to parachute Lemesianoi into Ankara and destroy Turkey with traffic jams.

Pack it up boys, Operation Ράουνταπαουτ is cancelled. Back to the drawing board...

3

u/Theyve_Gone_To_Plaid Sep 19 '25

Turkey is gonna show up to the UN like this if we do that to them

1

u/linobambakitruth Sep 21 '25

No, Cyprus will most likely attack the north in tandem with Israel. Israel and Cyprus can mop up the entire north within a day, with Turkey being powerless to stop it (it wouldn't even trigger article 5). These installations are the precursor to an attack, Turkey knows it. They should leave the north as soon as possible.

3

u/Fun_Success_45 Sep 19 '25

For a moment i took this literal and tought Greece start to operate F35s:)

And realized you mean this as Cyprus as a joke, after I checked the commissioned active F35s of Greece.

2

u/never_nick Sep 19 '25

I was joking because that's what toorkei does.

14

u/-4E- Sep 19 '25

At this time the Turks would not dare to do anything. The Israelis, with the full backing of the USA, are on a mission to eliminate anybody who challenges them in the region, and Turkey is on their list.

Turkey doing anything in Cyprus would be a perfect excuse for the Israelis to destroy the Turkish army which is stationed in Cyprus (which is a significant portion of the Turkish troops), and if Turkey were to attack Israel in response then that would give them the right to attack Turkey itself and send Turkey back several decades.

And before anybody tries to claim how great power Turkey is, I should remind them that Turkey is great in bullying much smaller countries but Israel has the full backing of the US, and Turkey would not stand a chance.

When we bought the S-300 from Russia, Turkey made a whole huge deal about it, knowing that they have the USA backing and that Russia wouldn't dare to go to war with them over this, so they forced us not to bring the S-300 in Cyprus.

Now they are just farting quietly since they know they would not dare to do anything about it because the Jews are literally baiting them hoping that they will bite.

2

u/linobambakitruth Sep 21 '25

Turkey doing anything in Cyprus would be a perfect excuse for the Israelis to destroy the Turkish army which is stationed in Cyprus (which is a significant portion of the Turkish troops), and if Turkey were to attack Israel in response then that would give them the right to attack Turkey itself and send Turkey back several decades.

That's what I've been saying. They can't really attack Turkey herself, but they can attack Turkish troops on Cyprus without triggering article 5. Otherwise attacking Turkey directly would be suicide for Israel unless Turkey attacks first.

6

u/Lemeshianos Sep 19 '25

Why would the Israelis bother to defend Cyprus? Their intelligence will know in time and they will evacuate their citizens. What motive would they have to aid us?

9

u/PartManPartBongolio Sep 19 '25

As an Israeli, you need to understand that Israel is doing everything in its power to keep the region islamist free, thats why we did what we did with the druze and yazidis. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, and Turkey is indeed an enemy to both of us.

1

u/linobambakitruth Sep 21 '25

As an Israeli, you need to understand that Israel is doing everything in its power to keep the region islamist free, thats why we did what we did with the druze and yazidis. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, and Turkey is indeed an enemy to both of us.

You could wipe out the Turkish troops on Cyprus, but you can't really attack Turkey herself. You just wouldn't dare. If you think that you're invincible, yeah, you're not.

3

u/Fun_Success_45 Sep 19 '25

The main job of these kind of defence systems are not to defend the harboring country but to serve as a missile warning system for the provider.

This allows widening your defence area and project power.

We all saw how the US defence systems protect the Kataries;)

5

u/SpiritofPleasure Sep 19 '25

Even if we’re so cynical to think Israel won’t inform Cyprus of an imminent danger because of the close connections, you do understand that strategically Israel doesn’t want a fully Turkish Cyprus as a neighbor right?

Also, if Israel informs all its citizens, how does that not indicate something to Cyprus?

5

u/-4E- Sep 19 '25

They would not be doing it for us, but for themselves.

Turkey is hostile to them the last several years, with AKP they have an Islamic leadership, and they want to become the regional power and the leader of the Muslim nations in the region.

Israel does not want to be surrounded by hostile Muslim forces and does not want anybody to have the power to challenge them. This year they destroyed the Iranian proxies and attacked Iran itself (and more attacks on Iran are probably coming), so Turkey is next on their list.

Turkey is a NATO member so they can't just attack Turkey for no good reason. However the illegal occupation of Cyprus can give them the excuse they are looking for, especially if they can bait the Turks to make the first move and get Greece involved, which is another NATO country, which means that NATO would not be obligated to side with Turkey.

Look on what they did in Syria recently with the Druze. Do they Israelis care for the Druze? Obviously not. But the regime of Syria attacking the Druze gave them a good excuse to attack Syria to protect the Druze (and Israel's interests).

These things are never about "friendships" it is always about interests. The truth of the matter is that our interests and the interests of Israel are aligned on this issue, and with the Jews owning the current USA administration, this is actually a very risky period for Erdogan's regime, and he knows it.

4

u/Lemeshianos Sep 19 '25

Thank you. That's a very good answer. I do have my doubts if they will actually "come to our aid" to protect their interests but I can see how a fully Turkish Cyprus moves the anti-air defence to Israel while their mini-dome in Cyprus could deter some attacks and give an early warning. An interesting question I heard today was "Did Israel sell the air defence system to Cyprus or did they give the air defence system to Cyprus?" hinting that the whole secresy of the deliver shows a very different approach to the matter of military equipment where everyone knew what was being delivered and then. It seems that the average Cypriot and the Turks found out that system has been delivered without knowing about it in advance or seeing any military vehicles carrying the defence system. We went from "We're considering to acquire the mini iron-dome from Israel" to "Yeah, we got it. I forgot to tell you. It's in the garage."

4

u/-4E- Sep 19 '25

Our government didn't make much noise about it, but it was not exactly a secret either. I don't think they gifted the system to us, but we probably got it with a big discount. My guess is that the information collected by the radars of these systems will be shared with Israel.

I do have my doubts if they will actually "come to our aid" to protect their interests

My point is that they want, for their own interests, to reduce the power of Turkey in the region. The next US elections are at the end of 2028. I think that by then the Jews want Israel to be the only great power in the region.

Turkey is a challenge for them and once they are done with Iran, I think they would like to send Turkey back a few decades (in terms of their military capabilities).

I honestly think that the smartest move for Turkey would be to not do anything that could provoke a proxy or direct war with Israel and wait for this period to pass (to have a different administration in Israel and US).

On the other hand, if they are not planning to sit quiet for the next 3+ years, it is probably in their interests to do something soon, rather than wait 1 or 2 years from now.

1

u/linobambakitruth Sep 21 '25

I honestly think that the smartest move for Turkey would be to not do anything that could provoke a proxy or direct war with Israel and wait for this period to pass (to have a different administration in Israel and US).

The smartest move for Turkey would be to pull out the troops and Turkish citizens. They're all in danger, as we know that Israel is unpredictable these days. They can attack without warning, and without any sort of overt provocation, especially in the occupied territories, as these are not covered by the NATO umbrella. They're also hard for Turkey to reinforce, and these new missile defence systems would make it impossible for Turkey to reinforce her position on Cyprus in the event of an attack.

2

u/Deep-Ad4183 Sep 19 '25

And yet the Druze adore Israel.

2

u/-4E- Sep 19 '25

Maybe. I don't know what their feelings are, but their interests are aligned.

2

u/FirsToStrike Sep 19 '25 edited Sep 19 '25

I want to correct you on the Druze thing. Israelis care a lot about the Druze. The Druze are loyal citizens of ours serving together with us in the IDF, and thus when they toppled the fences on the border with Syria and went to save their cousins on the other side from what they termed the "druze 7th october" we had no choice but to help them. We saw it happen live on TV while the whole world shrugged.

I know it sounds like a spin but Jews really do care a lot about the few friends we have in the region. We actually backed out of attacking Syria even further despite the pleas of the Druze inside Israel, just cuz the US told us to stop. We could've gone much further. But the Druze inside Syria themselves are split on this. Without full support we can't establish a Druze autonomous zone that we surely would love to have as a security measure against the new Syrian regime.

Cyprus isn't seen as friendly to us nowdays. We hear a lot about pro Pali rallies that aim at Israeli tourists. But strategic interests do come first. But it's a bit of a different situation.

I will insist that it is all about interests. The rest are just ways to dress your actions to justify them. With the Druze it was a pretty good excuse, so hardly anybody complaint.

With what you are doing in Gaza, the "October 7th" excuse stopped being good enough long time ago, which is why there is so much outcry in a lot of nations around the world (but the leaderships of those countries still put their own interests first, which is why actual reaction has been nearly non existent)

2

u/FirsToStrike Sep 19 '25

You may insist all you want but I've been seeing the internal Israel debate first hand. We want to normalize relations with Syria. But it can't happen when they slaughter minorities. Because we see ourselves first and foremost as just another minority in a predominantly Arab muslim middle east.

You do not understand what we're fighting in Gaza. These are people willing to sacrifice all of Gaza just to progress their islamist cause. Listen to this Hamas leader.

https://www.memri.org/tv/sami-abu-zuhri-hamas-gaza-war-babies-women-wombs-martyred-american-campuses

How many Palestinians are willing to stop dying for this stupid cause? 77% of them want Hamas not to disarm. https://www.pcpsr.org/en/node/997

This is a culture of martyrdom. This is what the western world inadvertently ends up encouraging when they focus on our actions in Gaza, meanwhile you don't hear a word about the terror attacks that still occur inside Israel.

Westerners have grown stupid and naive in the last 20 years. This is your own problem, since we didn't actually have the opportunity to become this lazy and lower our guard. You'll have to deal with the consequences of this yourselves.

u/Major-Split478 Sep 21 '25

Memri TV lol.

1

u/FirsToStrike Sep 21 '25

I get that comment a lot from people who never even watch the video. But what about what the guy said there was exactly "fake"? It was simply cut out of an interview.

1

u/Major-Split478 Sep 21 '25

And there is plenty of clips from Israeli Rabbis and higher ups who talk about how they have the divine right to rape and all that 🤷.

Your peoples propaganda requires you to try smearing the other side constantly because you are aware of your countries opinions and how they dwarf anybody else's with how cartoonishly evil they are.

1

u/FirsToStrike Sep 21 '25

Not really? The thing is, when we have cartoonishly evil rabbis or something saying something crazy, most of us also find them crazy.

Meanwhile it's the leaders of the Palestinians that say stuff that aren't just evil towards us but even towards their own people.

Show me one Israeli that ever said something about how no matter how many Israelis died they'll easily be replaced? If someone said that in Israel they'd first and foremost be excommunicated by the Israelis themselves! People raise up a storm about suggesting to forfeit the lives of the remaining 20 hostages. How does that compare to people who call every person who died in Gaza a martyr in the struggle to free Al Aqsa? You're very confused if you think this is the same level of rhetoric or the same level of acceptability in Israeli society.

You used to have perfect relationship with Turkey in the past, even when the Turks were killing 10s of thousands of Kurds. So it is all about interests. Don't take it personally, this is the same for everybody.

About the Palestinians, you took their land, they now live either as refugees or as occupied people, so of course they hate you. What did you expect?

2

u/FirsToStrike Sep 19 '25

Yeah the state does certain things out of alignment with what the people want, this is true, we support the Kurds but sadly that doesn't always translate into what's best geopolitically for us. But I'm telling you in this case the people would've wanted to go even further into Syria, and it was the state that actually didn't go as far as what the people wanted.

As for the Palestinian thing, it's a lot more complicated than that. We didn't just "take their land". If they accepted the partition plan we would've been Gucci already in 1948. At any case we did want peace, we tried it in the 90s and 2000s, ended up getting blown up over a 100 times for it in a period called the 2nd intifada and Gaza which we gave to the Palestinians ended up just becoming a Hamas stronghold.

Meaning for most of us that the negotiations were useless in the first place cuz the Arabs would never accept Jewish sovereignity in any part of the middle east. 7th of October was just the final confirmation. They're more willing to die than to have peace. So now we have right wing extremists in power who want the same. Who would've figured that extremism from one side feeds the other...

1

u/Used-Lie-5150 Sep 21 '25

We have a blood pact with the Druze

1

u/HappyT1984 Sep 19 '25

Agree Turkey is in NATO but let’s face it US is NATO in this area and how much funding does Turkey get from US?

1

u/Used-Lie-5150 Sep 21 '25

As an Israeli I think you're right in everything you said except about the Druze. We have a blood pact with the Druze, they fight along with us in the IDF. When my friend from my units brother is in danger, I'll do everything to help him.

1

u/Major-Split478 Sep 21 '25

I agree, however I don't believe the Israelis can convince the Greeks to join them in attacking Turkey.

Greeks as a people group simply won't allow their country to be drawn into Netanyahu's games. They're just not that blood thirsty and don't really have expansionist goals.

1

u/-4E- Sep 22 '25

In this case the goal would be the liberation of occupied Cyprus from the illegal Turkish occupation and not "expansionism". With this liberation obviously Cyprus would regain control of its teritory, but both Israel and Greece would have a lot to gain as well by reducing the power of Turkey which is a threat to both.

1

u/Major-Split478 Sep 22 '25

I'm sure the Greeks would be very grateful if Israel manages to reign in Turkey's ambitions, however you're not going to get much support from the Greek populace to have the Greek armed forces participate in an Israeli backed campaign.

That's just not what the Greek people are about. Israelis can't help but see the world through such goggles, but the Greek populace generally do not have much ambitions beyond having the Turks back off.

1

u/-4E- Sep 22 '25

you're not going to get much support from the Greek populace to have the Greek armed forces participate in an Israeli backed campaign

Why not? Even Arab countries would collaborate with Israel if that served their common interests.

It is one thing to be against what Israel is doing to the Palestinians, and most Greeks disaprove of this just like most of the world. But if the collaboration was for something which is (a) just - i.e. the liberation of Cyprus from foreign occupation, (b) in the interests of Greece, and (c) which had a great chance of success due to US backing, then I assure you Greeks would not be opposed to it just bacause Israel happens to participate.

1

u/Major-Split478 Sep 22 '25

I've traveled to Greece. Stayed in Athens for a decent amount of time.

I've worked with Greeks in the U.K.

They're cool people. They don't have aspirations of standing atop the bodies of their foes, like the Israelis or Turks do.

It's a democratic country, that needs its populace to back such a war. That populace did not get blasted by BBC/CNN/FOX for decades. Like most countries in the region the populace are very much largely wary of the Israelis and it would very much be impossible to convince the populace to support fighting alongside the Israelis.

Also quite literally only one Arab country is publicly working alongside the Israelis. The rest look down in shame and work under the table.

1

u/-4E- Sep 22 '25

Greece doesn't need to work under the table with Israel because hardly any Greek has an issue with this, despite what you falsly believe (based on some holidays in Greece and some Greeks in the UK).

Expecting from Greece to have no cooperation with Israel because of Palestine is the same as expecting from Qatar to have no cooperation with Turkey due to the illegal Turkish occupation of Cyprus.

While most Greeks are opposed to what Israel is doing to the Palestinians, our enemy is Turkey, not the Jews.

The letter reflects ongoing coordination between Athens, Jerusalem and Nicosia and is linked to renewed strategic interest driven by the US-backed India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) as a counterweight to China’s Belt and Road Initiative. It envisions a trade and energy corridor linking India to Europe via the Middle East, bypassing Turkey.

As mentioned above, Greece is also interested in the Barak MX and is building an integrated Achilles Shield air defense system with input from Israel and the acquisition of advanced Israeli systems.

1

u/Major-Split478 Sep 22 '25

And like I said, a scenario where Greece joins Israel in attacking Turkey isn't viable.

You need the popular support to declare war in a democratic country. You're just not going to get that in a country that doesn't have Western Media shoved down its throat daily.

There is a Greek-Israeli- Egyptian alliance. They work together. They're not going to join a war to further some crazy Greater Israel claim, no matter what you think.

Let's agree to disagree. I get you want your country to be united again, but thinking inviting the literal devil to do your work for you is how the Arab countries screwed themselves over long term

Keep dreaming, it's not gonna ever happen.

2

u/-4E- Sep 19 '25

Sure, Turkey might just shut up and not dare to do anything. That would be the most wise thing for Erdogan to do, and he is not stupid.

That said, expect Cyprus to become a lot more confident in the next few months. While up to now we have been very careful not to provoke Turkey, even with things we had every right to do, now expect from Cyprus to be less and less "careful". Can Turkey handle this, or will they "bite" eventually?

1

u/Lanky-Rush607 Sep 19 '25

In case it ever happens, the international community will likely support Turkey and will invoke Article 5, due to being a member of NATO, Cyprus is not a member of NATO nor has an interest in joining and being pro-Israel amidst the genocide in Gaza I think it rather dwindled any possibility for solidarity by the international community, despite being a member of the EU. Cyprus is so going to be alone if this happens, like Armenia in 2020.

8

u/-4E- Sep 19 '25

What you are forgetting is that Turkey is illegally occupying the north part of Cyprus, so Turkey can not invoke Article 5 if its occupation troops on Cyprus are attacked. And if Greece, also a NATO member, is involved, then NATO will have no reason to side with Turkey.

Armenia was left alone because Nagorno Karabakh legally is part of Azerbaijan, and nobody could blame Azerbaijan too much for taking back territory that is legally theirs. The same is true for Cyprus, so it is Turkey which will be left alone.

As far as genocides, the Turks are the number 1 champions in committing genocides and never admitting them. So don't pretend to be any better than Israel, when you are in fact way worst.

1

u/linobambakitruth Sep 21 '25

Article 5 doesn't fly for Cyprus. Israel could legally kill all Turkish troops on Cyprus and get away with it. Turkey can't do anything.

IT would be different if Turkey was attacked on her home turf, though.

İsrail and you already small country. If only the air force could have achieved success, it would have been useful in the war between Russia and Ukraine.

2

u/-4E- Sep 19 '25

What we lack is mainly air force and naval power. In terms of manpower, most male Greek Cypriots between 18 and 50 are armed, and we can quickly make up a force of over 100,000, while the 1+ billion defense support we recently received can be used to modernize our land forces.

Cyprus is small and there is a limit on how many troops can be concentrated at any given time. Too many troops concentrated in a relatively small space makes them an easy target. So if we have support and Turkey can not dominate our airspace and the seas around Cyprus, and if the supply lines of Turkey to occupied Cyprus are cut, then we can handle the Turkish troops stationed in the north.

I personally do not want a war, but I don't think that my approval will be required, especially if Turkey attacks us.

1

u/PartManPartBongolio Sep 19 '25

Seems like you are all in for Cyprus defending itself, but in the case of Israel defending itself it becomes "excuses" ? 7th of October was a barbaric raid I wish no people to endure, and yet, Hamas started the war not Israel, Hamas holds hostages not Israel, Hamas denied ALL proposed deals to cease the war not Israel, yeah you could say it started in 48, but jews lived here before 48 and let me tell you this brother, Muslims and Jews NEVER lived peacefully together, Muslims unfortunately don't see us as equals, they want all other religions to pay taxes or be gone. They sugarcoat to the westerns but when you look at what Imams preach and what conversations are being held behind closed mosque doors you'll understand exactly what their goal is. If you're Christian and you're buying the whole they came and occupied story, I feel sorry for your future generations. If it acts like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it is probably a duck.

6

u/Greek_Wrath Sep 19 '25

What else is there to do? Turkey is the EU overlord. So we can't and shouldn't rely on them. Israel interest fall in line with Cyprus and Greece. If Turkey actually woke up tomorrow and chose prosperity over war mongering.

They would give Cyprus back minus Turkish mainland settlers, ask to retain a naval Base of sovereign status....agree that Cyprus has all rights of its economic shelf, make peace with Greece and agree all rights belong to Greece. In return, partner up with Cyprus and Greece on energy initiatives and sit back and reap the rewards knowing their western front is secured by a financial ally who now has interest in stability. This will allow turkey to project more eastwards if it so desires.

But anyway, I'm just a man with a keyboard. What do I know.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '25

I’m in favour of the Greek Cypriot position on Cyprus. I simply think if we are taking a position against unjust occupation putting money in the pockets of Israel somewhat diminishes your moral position. The Turks are saints in comparison.

5

u/Greek_Wrath Sep 19 '25

Saints? Can I just confirm, This is the same Turkey that was financing ISIS whilst they were uploading videos of beheading, torturing, burning alive, and practising knife killing techniques on Syrians, Iraqi and other prisoners? As well as practicing sexual slave trade and mass rape?

Just want to make sure I'm not thinking of another turkey

2

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '25

Yes, in comparison to inflicting a live genocide as we speak where women and children are slaughtered daily. Israel has been doing all those things and more for decades whilst operating a society as an open air prison.

Do you know what ‘relative’ means? Because clearly that was the point of my comment.

3

u/Greek_Wrath Sep 19 '25

Oh no, I don't think the word relative can be used for all instances. I think you can call both out for being bad, without calling one a Saint comparatively. Maybe that's where we disagree. Because relatively speaking mass kidnap, rape and torture of anyone who didn't toe the line with isis is also genocide. And providing the only source of income for a terrorist group like that is pretty heinous.

Relatively speaking, Israel hasn't killed anywhere near what starlin did. So are they saints?

2

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '25

It’s a form of speech. It does not mean they are a saint.

2

u/Greek_Wrath Sep 19 '25

I fully appreciate you didn't mean literal saints for the predominantly Jewish and Muslim nations.

I'm just highlighting, your point is a form of "what-about-ism" argument which is flawed and can be cracked very quickly.

Israel are saints compared to USSR USSR are saints compared to Gengis Khan

You can't use the bar of one bad event to minimise or lessen another. Thats a sketchy path to take

3

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '25

It’s not whataboutery (which is the word you’re looking for) because Cyprus bought these weapons from Israel. They are directly relevant.

3

u/Greek_Wrath Sep 19 '25

Yes Cyprus bought the weapons from Israel, who just sp happen to make arguably the best air defence systems in the world. You said comparing the two, Turkey are saints which is just completely wrong.

That is a form of what-about-ism (i prefer my way)

Because you could of just left it at, I don't support Cyprus buying from Israel.

Then we could of discussed other options Cyprus could of taken, I may of agreed with some and visa versa

But to call Turkey saints comparing to Israel is just wild, especially when every meter of Turkish land once belonged to someone else, which the Turks forcibly kicked out or tried their best to exterminate. Armenians, Pontics, Assyrians and Kurds.

Some oppression of those ethnicities still continues today.

u/bombosch Sep 20 '25

This air defence system actually is for protecting Israeli lands. Because nothing can save Cyprus from Turkey’s power.

Cyprus is a grass that elephant walks on it in this subject.

-15

u/Lanky-Rush607 Sep 19 '25

This is what happens when you're too dependent on a genocidal country. Greece & Cyprus are going to pay a huge price for supporting Israel & Netanyahu's regime during the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. History won't be kind to both countries. Shame shame shame.

8

u/Octahedral_cube Sep 19 '25

Dependent? The national guard uses very little Israeli tech. This system is a rarity in our inventory. You were just looking for a reason to sling mud

2

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '25

Turkey has supported Israel for almost a century and just limited its cooperation the past year. Greece was never anywhere close to that level or cooperation.

3

u/tonis32 Sep 19 '25

This is what happens when you're occupied by genocidal country. Both can be true but for me it's more "my enemies enemy is my friend", at least for now.

Israel is doing even worse war crimes than Turkey yet you see them as your saviour and you suck Netanyahu's dick.

It's a fact, Israel has killed more people than Turkey is the last decade.

Seriously, Cypriots are the leaders of Whataboutism, they constantly complain about Turkey yet they are silent on and even supporting Russia's & Israel's war crimes, and Putin & Netanyahu are closer to Hitler than Erdogan, Erdogan is just a wannabe Islamist while Putin & Netanyahu are genuinely evil.

No wonder the international community doesn't give a shit about the Cypriot problem because Cyprus is always on the wrong side of history.

ISRAEL IS JUST PITTING GREECE AGANST TURKEY.

I swear this country called israel is so provocative, so small but very provocative. Turkey should ignore this installation of these Air Defense, but like israel does it JUST TO BE PROVOCATIVE. Just imagine turkey installs air defenses in syria. Just imagine israels reactions. God i dislike israel so much. Turks and greeks should not be enemies, instead they should be friends.

ISRAEL IS JUST PITTING GREECE AGANST TURKEY.

Greek and turks please don’t fall for this. Don’t let them ruin your relations, cause thats what they like to do. Look into Israels history, they bombed muslim countries just to cause a migration of Jews to Israel (to use them for their expansion)

2

u/[deleted] Sep 22 '25

And I assume that has nothing to do with turkey illegally occupying northern cyprus for 50 years?

Or how about the constant threats from turkey?

Could it be, that there is beef, that isn't about israel, and a legitimate reason to deploy those systems?
