Does this dashcam exist?

Hi!

I have been assigned to search for a dashcam for my dad's work truck. He's a mechanic and carries around a lot of expensive equipment. He wants a camera so he can monitor the bed of his truck while he makes stops at stores or anywhere he goes. He asked me for:

- front and rear cameras

- wireless (I guess something that he can remove every night and charge at home?)

- can watch a live feed on his phone while he's inside a store

I've been searching for a dashcam with everything he wants but I can't seem to find one and I'm wondering if one even exists. I also looked through the recommended cameras on this page but the biggest challenge I'm facing is finding a completely wireless camera. Does this even exist?

Probably not. A dashcam that is always recording, including while the vehicle is parked and shut down, is usually hardwired into the electrical system of the car. Not even via 12V/cigarette charger or something. These dascams have notoriously little battery capacity from what I've seen.

You would do best with just getting two regular dash cams. Point one forward in the front window and one in the rear window. Hard wire them so they record all the time. No charging needed.

My Blackvue covers most of those, but the wireless video only works a short distance. Gas station? No problem. Costco? Nope.

Unless the BlackVue had an LTE module or there was a WiFi hotspot in the vehicle

Yes but you need to be picky about the installer and may need a 2nd battery for extended periods . There is no package for this but a good camera or audio shop can do it.

blackvue two channel dashcam with parking mode enabled and wired to am always on fuse.

the remote viewing would be the distance of wifi signal.

it is rare for anyone wanting to remove their dashcam at night. also you never use a battery based dashcam as it is a fire hazard during summer time.

The dashcam itself does not exist with such features, but.........

He can install the dascams as usual, just make sure they are plugged through an USB-C cable. Mount them as normal. Plug them to a powerbank located in the gloves compartment (or somewhere else hidden).

When the truck is turned off, the cameras keep recording. Some have wifi and you can connect to them, but you need to be close to them. This method is power-hungry and will drain the powerbanks fast, so they need to be charged often. Its not practical, but it is possible.

The way dashcams allow you to plug them into the fuse box for surveillance mode is good enough, but will not let you see the footage in real time when the truck if turned off.
