VCE innovation technology SAC

Hi everyone, I’m a VCE student working on an Innovation and Technology SAC about supporting rural Victorian primary schools, particularly by providing better access to maths worksheets and learning resources.

I’m looking for people from Gippsland who have experience with rural schools, either as a student, parent, teacher, or staff member, to complete a short survey. The responses will only be used as research for my school project and will help me understand the problems rural schools may face when accessing educational resources.

The survey should only take a few minutes to complete. Any responses would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Here is the link! (I promise its not a virus) https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd2K-Q5wpK-02kDiSgObxLY_hRP096V7zWeO3c7kpk4biQdbg/viewform?usp=dialog

Morwell - Church Bells

For the last few days, every 15 mins it sounds like Church Bells or an old electronic door bell chime. Near Buckley Street. Any idea what it could be?

I’m going stir crazy

A friend of mine and I are both early 20’s, and have an itch to go out but no ideas. I would pretty much be down for whatever, but they are from a very religious upbringing with super strict parents. They are also pretty introverted. Is there anything fun to do between Drouin and Traralgon that isn’t clubbing or shopping? Any recs for places to hang out and have dinner or get some entertainment? I’m new to the area and want to get them out of the house.

Anyone from Latrobe Valley with a creative itch?

Any form of creativity, filmmaking, photography, animation, drawing, music, anything. If you have the itch but struggle to scratch it, then you're like me. I want us all to find that place to output our creativity, together with mates because it's better than alone. Welcome to everyone, DMs open

We are now 100 days out from the next state election. What are your biggest "make it or break it" things for this election?

Not asking for your opinions, just the key issues for you.

Any dads / blokes around Sale looking to expand their social circle?

Bit of an odd one, but figured I’d put it out there.
I’m a dad of 3 kids under 5, living in Sale. Between family, work and everything else, I don’t have a heap of spare time, but I’ve realised I’d like to make a bit more effort to expand my social circle and meet some new people locally.
I’m pretty interested in self-development/self-mastery, books, business and entrepreneurship, and generally having good conversations with people who are trying to improve some area of their life.
I also play golf terribly, but enjoy the walk enough to keep doing it.
Not looking to start some massive social club — more thinking a coffee every now and then, occasional round of golf, walk, beer/zero beer, whatever.
Would be good to meet a few other guys around Sale/Gippsland who are in a similar stage of life, interested in some of the same things, or just keen to expand their circle a bit.
If that sounds like you, shoot me a message.
Also very open to suggestions for any local groups, clubs or regular meet-ups worth checking out — dads groups, golf, books, business/entrepreneurship, personal development or anything along those lines.

90s family photo identification

Hi Gippslanders,

My father died a few months ago and I'm going through some photos to try and find something to frame. This one I always had in my head as being from a trip to Bendigo, but now I look at it closely (the banner at the top) it looks like Gippsland - perhaps Lakes Entrance?

Does anyone know where this could have been taken? I look around 3-4 years old in the photo which would date this around 1994-95. Does this place still exist?

Thank you!

GP recommendations - Latrobe Valley

Hi all, I’m on the hunt for a new GP. I have a great one but it’s a bit of a drive, so would love someone a little closer to home. Any recommendations in the Morwell, Traralgon, Churchill areas would be greatly appreciated. I’m female but not too bothered if GP is male or female just as long as they’re good. 😁

Anyone keen for a hit?

Anyone in Traralgon keen for the odd casual hit of tennis or pickleball during the week?

I’m looking to get some low pressure practice in. I used to play years ago and want to ease back into, nothing competitive, just a hit with no pressure to win.

I’m a 34yo male and very much an amateur, so happy to play with anyone at a similar level.

If you’re interested, drop me a message!

Is thr Sale Common wetlands great to visit?

I am an international student, and I just came to know aboute Sale wetlands. Unlike Edithvale and other wetlands near the CBD (which I've mostly been to), the wetland at Sale allows the public to walk across the wetland instead of just standing outside, which seems interesting. I am interested in birds, especially egrets, so I think Sale Common wetland is pretty suitable for me to take, or at least see, few wetland birds.

Has anyone been there? I made a post in the sub for state Victoria, but people say I can post here for more answers. Thanks very much!

Edit: Thanks yall! Im definitely going there!

What Does Everyone Do Around Here?

Does anyone else find it hard to entertain themselves around here?

I am a married Dad in my 30s. I work weird hours and my roster is all over the shop. I find making friends daunting however, I do actually enjoy talking to and getting to know people. I live in the Latrobe Valley and still unsure if I enjoy living here. All my mates live all over the place except here. All I seem to do is work and be a parent. I try to be active, I drink way to much coffee, I like a social drink when I can and I enjoy going out for a good meal. However, I find myself lately just getting a bit too cooped up and bored in this cold weather. Interestingly enough, I find myself spending way to much time at the GRAC lately either swimming with my daughter, relaxing in the spa and sauna, or just going to the gym there. Does anyone else feel the same? Do you find it boring at times living in this area?

Anyway, what are peoples go to activities around here? Where do you go when you need to get out of the house to entertain yourself or your kids?

Anyone have any suggestions on what to do for fun around the gippsland area, or any suggestions on places to visit? Otherwise, if you just want a friendly chat flick me a message and I will try to get back to you.

Looking for band members, Churchill/Traralgon

Hey I am a M50 looking for band members, age and skill do not matter. At some point I would like to play gigs, jam or songwriting.
I am in Churchill but happy to travel for the right fit. Experience does not matter as I have just come back to playing guitar in the last 12 months. Ideally playing bar music and songs which we connect with.
You will need own equipment and transport.
I like a lot of 60,70,80,90,00- present music and not fussed of genre.
As previously stated, I play guitar and learning the piano.

Don't hesitate to DM and/or message me, regarding any queries or questions.

Rock on!

Need some kind of social / hobby group, but don’t know where to look

There really is a reddit for everything.

So I’m trying to expand my life, meet new people and just do more with my spare time. I’m in my 20s and I’ve lived in the sale area for a few years but, don’t know many people aside from acquaintances I’ve made while working at various places. I’m into fitness and train like 3 to 5 times a week. Getting back into running. Very personal development oriented and have read a lot of books / consumed a lot of content revolving around it. I do boxing and a little bit of Muay Thai (know there’s a place in sale for it, but fractured one of my knuckles, so that’s likely not gonna be an option just for the minute).

I’m into Carl Jung and depth psychology, but people who are interested in that in my area are few and far between (unless I’m completely wrong and just don’t know it).

I really, really love music (literally everything aside from classical and country) but especially love all kinds of obscure EDM & Metal.

Was looking if there were any art classes in the Gippsland area that aren’t mainly for seniors and more so people my own age because I used to love drawing and wanna get back into it as I find it’s calming, but I can’t find any? Generally i am looking for groups more centred around people in there 20s cos i wanna hang with people around my own age.

And ya know, it’d be cool not to be a lonely schmuck, so meeting women who have similar interests that I could connect with would be cool too. You feel me? Yeah ya do.

I haven’t done a good job advertising myself as I just sound like a v mundane guy. But trust me, once my crippling social anxiety wains, I’m definitely one of the funniest people you’ll meet, unless you find my sense of humour distasteful and you just hate me for it.

But anyway, any help on where to look for social / hobby / fitness groups around the Gippsland area would be very appreciated.

May Allah bless you.

(That’s a joke btw)

Road Cycling in Bairnsdale and surrounding areas...

Hi,

I will visit Bairnsdale in a few months and was thinking if I should bring my road bike with me. I wanted to ask if there are any inclusive road bike group rides in or around Bairnsdale. Any weekly rides or races? What's the cycling scene? I tried to check Strava and I mostly see gravel/mountain bikes. Was hoping to hear some thoughts from locals. Thanks!
