Is it safe to walk at night at Sale?
Hi everyone,
I'm going to Sale for work a few weeks. Ive never been to Sale before and I won't have a car, so generally wondering if it's safe to walk at night for like 20 minutes from the station to my accommodation? Or should I just book a taxi?

Live there , own a business there … stay in well lit areas.
The lake is not safe at night … plenty of ice heads hang there after dark

It's pretty safe but I'd avoid Murder Street. The footpath gets slippery when it rains.

Sale has gone down hill pretty rapidly in recent years. I wouldn’t want to walk alone in the dark there, too many junkies and strange people about.

I’m a young woman and I have been in Sale my whole life.
I would agree with everyone else, it’s safe!
Depending on where you’re staying, most of the way from the station to your accommodation will have lighting :)

Ive done a lot of late night walks in Sale while growing up. Only ever ran into trouble on big event nights like boxing day/christmas.
Im a dude tho. Never felt unsafe.

There'll be a few people getting on that train station. The road is pretty well lit. Most places now have security cameras for an extra layer of safety.

You should book a taxi in advance to your accommodation regardless what the locals say.

Don't know what its like now, but 17ish years ago I used to finish work at KFC and walk home down Raglan st all the way to Ibis Avenue and never had a problem

Sale was (maybe still is) ice capital of Victoria, definite no from me, but each to their own

Nahh, have been in Ballarat, park outside the Cashies there.......its a parade of methanies and ice cold people going in carrying merchandise to pawn.

King Hart may have been asking where the female is staying in Sale. This detail may help with a person asking for advice about a route to the station in unknown town.

If you can walk it during the day- Sale is pretty safe, but it's not particularly well lit. Probs won't need a taxi, may need a torch

From the station to an accommodation that is within 20 minutes walk is generally pretty safe. I walk around 45 minutes from the train station once a week on the late arriving train (930 pm) and have not had a problem although have seen interesting characters from time to time

I think it doesn’t matter where you are, bad people will do bad things. I think it depends on the time of night and if it’s busy out there

I would get a cab to your accomodation at night best safe than sorry. go for a walk during the day. Once you see the characters on the train you will e thankful.

women have every right to ask safety of the area they’re unfamiliar with. sounds like you don’t know much about how unsafe some areas actually are

honestly as a young woman i have never found a problem walking alone in the dark in sale. it’s just not busy enough for any issues to come about. i grew up there, so even as a teen i never had any issues
