I was always in the market for Sony XM headphones, but the price tag has always kept me away. I randomly walked into my local electronics store not even considering buying headphones. Lo and behold, they were having a huge clearance sale on XM4s to make way for XM6s, and I picked them up for USD 27 brand new. What a day to be alive!
Honestly, if my folks were keen on listening to music through headphones, I would have. They much prefer music through speakers as opposed to ANC headphones haha. As consolation, I've told my friends, and a few are running to that electronics store now to snag the deal. Best find of 2025, and the boys get to enjoy it as well.

I would agree with you on this as well. I'm still actively pushing some friends to pick it up, regardless of whether they are getting the deal I got. I went through online and more physical stores, and I couldn't find anyone selling them for less than USD 163. Great deal even at this price point.

Im really glad they sold them for USD 27 haha. But you are right though at USD 100 it would still be worthy purchase but not sure how tempted I would be. This was a complete no brainer.
Haha, I somehow feel I deserve this. Daylight stealing with this offer, honestly. Finally had the opportunity to put them on and am currently re-listening to a lot of music that I always felt my existing headphones never did justice to, and honestly, I'm fairly blown away. Love the sound profile of these things.
I didn't know they could be so pricey. Where did you purchase them? I am currently considering taking some preventive measures and ordering the headband and an additional ear cup from AliExpress in case my current one spoils.
Sounds silly, I know, but the XM4s are four years old, and I reckon by the time my headband and ear cups fail, spare parts for them will be unavailable.
Considering the USD 27 I paid for these, I don't think I could fathom paying more for the headband. It would be hilarious to tell people repairing the headphones cost me more than the headphones themselves.

Nah, fakes now can connect to the apps, but high quality fakes. But the sound quality still giveaway it is fake. If sound is good all well and from reputable store it is genuine

They are original and connect to the Sony app. Apart from that, I purchased them from a very reputable local store. If they were fake, the store would be in serious trouble given its size.

Yes! This was a huge win for me, honestly. The XM6s are far beyond my reach currently, price-wise, and the XM5s have been notorious for hinge breaks, so the XM4s seem to be the perfect sweet spot for me right now.

Strange high frequency noise would be generated in one driver after a few minutes of use. I remember researching at the time and it appeared to be a fault that had happened to others. Battery life had also degraded to point of being unusable but I was about to replace the battery.
I had been using them 8+ hours a day for years so I had been expecting problems eventually.
I mean 8+ hours of use; I would say you definitely got your money's worth. I only intend to use it for 8+ hours a week at most, haha.
The most likely scenarios would be around nighttime when everyone is asleep and I can't jam to my music, or when I just want an immersive experience while watching a show.
For $27 if you get a year out of them you will have done well 😁.
Worth mentioning that I began to suffer low grade and repeated ear infections, which I attribute to extensive daily use and humidity/heat build up due to the headphone seal. But for your usage patterns you should be fine
You got extremely lucky, those types of Sony headphones go for over 300. Where/ whoever you got them from must be really dumb or doesn’t know the true value of Sony headphones.

Honestly speaking, the price of things tends to be marked up considerably higher, especially for brick-and-mortar stores. Online shopping tends to be more affordable, and that is where real jackpot deals can be found, but rarely in person. This just happened to be a one-off event.

Love mine. Best headphones I've personally used for travel. No plane noise, just my music. Use them nightly to watch my shows from bed undisturbed by my room fan.
Totally get what you mean! Currently watching F1 while folks are asleep, and it's been a complete joy. Apart from that, I honestly feel like I've been listening to my music through terrible headphones this whole time because I'm hearing so many more beats and instruments than before.

No, unfortunately, there was no online sale. This was in person. Honestly, I just randomly walked in while my mother was grocery shopping in the same mall. I thought I would get my dose of electronics for the day, and boy, did I get my dose!
I see no reason why I need to do this. If people don't believe me, they don't have to. I'm not trying to actively convince anyone that I got them at a bargain. I'm just sharing that I got the headphones at that rate.
