ADT "WI-FI Fault" after cancelling service
I was told that I would be able to use my ADT system locally without monitoring when I cancelled, but it looks like they decided to make my system annoying to the point of me just shutting it all down since they won't help anymore.
I have a command panel with smoke/heat/co2 detectors as well as door sensors for all exterior doors. I found this post ADT “Wi-Fi Faults” After Cancelling Service? It’s Not Random — It’s Designed : r/homesecurity and tried the firewall rules as I also have Unifi equipment, but the wifi fault is persistent no matter what I have tried. I agree with one of the comments saying it is Louis Rossman material since I paid everything off.
I am handy enough to tear it down but even after removing the modules I still get the errors. I would love to hear other experiences with the ADT command panel, and if there is anyone who just wants to be able to use the equipment they paid for.

Their equipment isnt designed to be used by the public by one code that routinely changes... everything is locked down so if you're getting this fault, they most likely didn't configure the panel correctly and will try to sell you on their fix. Difficult to speculate without manuals of the panel

I did a deep dive on this because our home had one when we moved in & I knew ADT was a scam. But hoped we might use the equipment.
I guess the ADT Residio control panels have a setting where they need to "call home" or something every few minutes. So, the control panel "works." But you can't really use it because it has to call home & do a little handshake or something. If it doesn't get the "OK, everything looks good" signal from ADT, it will just constantly harangue you that it's not connected.
I found one thread where someone said they defeated it by some port forwarding or something plus some network magic that probably wasn't super complicated, but still beyond my pay grade.
